The choice between 3 sound cards.

I use system of integrated sound of my computer (chip Realtek 888) for about 4 years, but have always wanted to have the best sound quality.  Based on the comments I've read on this forum, I narrowed the choice up to three cards.  It was not mentioned on this forum, but it has big plug and generally good reviews.  The three cards are listed below, with their advantages and disadvantages, as I see them.  What would be your advice.

My main uses for the card will be digitizing vinyl records, vinyl record, band 1/4 ", CD and tuner for now, voice recording (will have to pre - amp mike and mike, but will post on this in the future), will be expanded to live music, recording in the future to short/medium.  I wish only in stereo, not 5.1, 7.1 etc..  While I would like entered S/PDIF, the ASUS card is overwhelmingly the best choice for other reasons, I can't live without S/PDIF inputs.

Please keep in mind that I have VERY good hearing and it is very well trained.  Really, I have the audiometery test results to prove it.

1 E-MU 0404 PCIe

PROS: good to excellent care, have seen E-MU, spoken regarding this forum, is the PCIe and PCI not (even if I have some free PCI slots open) bus, has S/PDIF out AND in, threw connect IO I use comes with drivers ASIO2, a MIDI i/o (that I don't use), the price is the lowest of the three councils.

CONS: Only one year warranty, no Windows 7 drivers (E - MU said to use the Vista drivers and I use Win 7-64, but they are "followed the narrow issue" and will let us know when a version is released), employs a suite of cable which has 1/4 "TRS jacks-necessating a TRS to RCA for my equipment, some critics say that the cable breaks on its own after a while.

2 M-Audio Audiophile 192

PROS: good to excellent care, drivers have support 64-bit for Windows, has ASIO drivers, have seen about M-Audio in this respect on this forum, has software routing entries and exits, he seems a chip of the op-amp can be changed (but not mentioned in the literature of M-Audio), a S/PDIF in AND out, price decent.

CONS: All drivers are old-11/14/2009, extension cable is said by some to have occasional problems, extension cable a 1/4 "TRS jacks-necessating a TRS to RCA for my equipment, e/s TRS jacks are spec'ed as balanced, but M-Audio was told they will detect automatically asymmetric and operate accordingly.

3 asus Xonar STX

ADVANTAGES: best record of the peloton, most recent 64-bit Win 7 drivers of capacitors Nichicon Fine gold bouquet-2/14/2011, (from "Big Whoop", however they are what I used when I rebuilt the right of my McIntosh MC 2205 amp channel), three-year warranty, (only) taken RCA output, has supposedly EMI shielding on the critical parts to protect the analog signal (but shield is open on one side?) DAC Burr-Brown 1792 A, extensible op amplifiers.

CONS: uses a TRS stereo to dual RCA cable for inputs, only S/PDIF output, the higher price of the Pack, some say because it is made by ASUS, it is not a professional quality card, I've never seen mentioned on this forum.

Dogs is good wrote:

Of course it does - it wouldn't have a shield in the opposite case, it would be a conductor. And this isn't at all the same thing. Join the screening at both ends for the points on the ground usually makes things worse, not better. To work properly, a shield of screening has only to be connected to one place.

And no, ASUS are not cards pro audio. Personally, I would choose the E-MU, and I wouldn't worry about the extension cables too. all you have to do is ensure that when it is connected, they don't move a lot and they are certainly going to be fine.

  • Are in conflict on the purchase of a sound card

    Hi all

I am a student that had a digital video production class this fall for my Digital Arts (graphics and Animation) major. The issue raised in this case, it's what I have to ensure the best audio possible results for my classroom work and portfolio. I don't know that I buy a pair of high-quality headphones. A major candidate is the Audio-Technica ath - Mx 50

My questions come from either Realtek ALC892 of my motherboard just for quality video production with Adobe first Pro CC 2015 and hearing among others. Even if it is enough, it seems to be other benefits of a dedicated card for other uses outside this class one, as for the games. My concern is of diminishing for the money. There is so much confusion that the sound cards are now worth. Some say yes, then that others (including some on this forum) are skeptical. Instructor at my school that teaches audio production seems to think that a dedicated card might be a good idea. It's however opinion of a person.

As a warning, the lion share of the work will be done on the school's computers. My concern is any work done away from the school on my own machine. If was to get a dedicated card, the best choices are the Asus Essence STX II and the Creative Sound Blaster ASHLEY. My PC runs the suite Adobe Creative complete Cloud and Windows 10 Pro.

    Thank you!

a party larger decide what parts, is budget, precisely how you want it to be and what are your ears at the hearing. It will take months, usually years, for someone who works with audio to develop good ears.

you want to find the equipment that is described under the name specific or neutral. which means that the equipment (speakers, headphones, sound card) is not changing the audio source. There are several websites which gear reviews, some use same eq graphic showing how the original sound is changing. most of the speakers and headphones will change the audio to varying degrees, even if it means trying to be precise that its almost impossible for speakers to reproduce the original signal perfectly. several headphones and speakers are designed only for the listeners of averages, so they will voluntarily change the sound or EQ profile. the m50 AT are very popular, but also very well known as a heavy bass. they are also the headphones closed, which is good for keeping the sound of annoying others around you, but open-back headphones is generally preferred for mixing.

Initially, you should be fine with a good pair of headphones and use the integrated realtek audio system. If you want to get the best results, you can search an audio dac interface or the helmet. using an audio external USB / card its interface/dac keeps electronic interference from the computer to a minimum. several regular consumer cards sound or a helmet audio dac is altered as well, in an attempt to sound "better", making them more accurate.

you want to go out like asus, creative, beats consumer products and search for audio brands pro like Sennheiser, AKG, Audio Technica, and Sony, to name a few. most of the audio brands pro are consumer gear too, if it's not as simple as choosing a certain brand. for audio interfaces, Focusrite Scarlett models are popular, there is also a presonus, m-audio and more. small portable headphones dac is more popular, but its rare to find any big name pro audio attached to them. However, some are seen as accurate/neutral. your school, they might already have an audio interface connected to your computer to use with your helmet, or you could ask if its OK to take a listener dac or external audio interface.

  • The editable Tecra 9100 sound card?

Can someone tell me if the sound card on the Tecra 9100 is editable? And if so, where to find a new. And how to open the laptop in order to proceed to the place of the sound card.
    Thank you, Peter (of Germany)

    Hello

I think the Tecra 9100 uses a stand-alone sound table
Yamaha YMF753 - 16-stereo sound blaster pro compatible system (WAVE und MIDI) bits
It could be removed and replaced without replacing the entire motherboard, but that part can be ordered from the Toshiba service partner.
But it looks like you don't have many experiences from these exchanges of witch.

So I recommend you to contact a technician for these replacements.

Surely, Toshiba supports XP audio driver for Tecra 9000 series.

  • What is the difference between a graphics card of GEForce with ddr3 and the other with ddr5 and are they

HP Pavilion Elite 590uk with windows 7 64 bit.

What is the main difference between the GEForce GT420 installed and the GTS450.

I know the 429 is DDR3 and the 450 is DDR5 what - what, can I replace the 420 to 450 and how do I

    Hello

There is a large performance difference and energy consumption.  Look at this comparison.

The 420 is a narrow card requiring only a single slot where the 450 is a map more wide which will cover the next adjacent location.  Look at the diagram for the motherboard of your PC. The GTS 450 requires a PCI-E power connector 6 pins provide the extra power for the card.

Open your PC and a few measurement in parallel with the PCI-E x 16 slot to see how long of a video card will fit. The adjacent slot on the PCI-E x 16 slot must be vacant.  Look for a PCI-E power connector 6-pin.

  • No sound after reinstalling the CD driver for sound card

It all started when we do receive some music before of Powerpoint. We tried to update the driver for the card of its Soundblaster Audigy by shape to reinstall the CD we have obtained with the computer. It is reinstalled, but now we have NO noise at all. I tried to restore to an earlier time, but this has not fixed the problem. Check all the cables. To remove and reinstall sound card. Deleted SP3 and reinstalled because someone said that it would fix the corrupted files.   When we run difficulty It Now of microsoft, he says that everything is working properly.  Device Manager, I removed everything that I could see that had to do with the sound and reinstalled. Help, please. It's so frustrating not to make any noise.

It does not say that the audio now works in Device Manager? If you double-click the audio inputs none of them see one! or X? If you want, I could check here with teamviewer. You will see what Im doing. If you decide to get this facility then run it. Give me the ID and the password, it gives you.

Is its edge card, if it's not (and there is a soundboard on board, it is disabled)?

The audio realtek manages it say that there is no device plugged into the system.

Check with the manufacturer of the sound card documentation to see what this cable.

  • How can you identify entries available sound card?

The "Sound Input Configure.vi" requires a device identification number that seems arbitrary.  The express VI for sound cards, 'Acquire Sound', pulls a description of each available on the PC input device somehow.  Is it possible to programmatically draw the name of the card sound (s) to a string for a distributed executable?  It is somehow in this express VI!

The relevant VI who gets this information and fills this control of the ring is the following:

    \vi.lib\sound2\_SoundAcquireConfig.llb\InitializeInputDeviceRing.VI

The two subVIs there which are of use are "Get Num Devices", which gets the number of available devices and 'Sound Device Info', which returns information about a device number. These screws are in the LLB lvsound2 located in the sound2 directory. These screws can be used on their own.
