The DATA EXECUTION PREVENTION won't let me continue my game.

DEP refused to turn it off for my game program.  DEP MUST be disabled for me to continue with my game. This is not the first time that this program has fubared my games.  I want to turn OFF DEP for THESE GAMES, or GET RID OF THE adj. (I'd rather my computer, only to not be able to run my games.) these games are played for more than a month and is very frustrating to get to a point and then not be able to continue.

I have a problem with the current game is Kings Bounty The Legend. (I have not see why this series, widly available game is to be screwed by this lame security program.)

I appricate your time and attention to this problem.
Thank you

  • Data Execution Prevention will not let me turn off for nothing

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) blocked one of my games to open. I followed the steps to turn it off, but when I get to the window with the option "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select", it is grayed out and won't let me select it. I am the administrator (my account is the only one on this computer), so I don't know why it doesn't let me do. I have looked everywhere and can not find someone else with the same problem. I have Vista Home Premium, 64-bit, if that helps at all.

    Hello

First of all, I suggest you to see if a Data Execution Prevention of the game compatible version is available by visiting the website of the software publisher. If the Publisher has not released an updated, compatible version DEP for the program, you can turn off DEP for the program that was closed. You will be able to use the game, but it might be vulnerable to an attack that could spread to your other files and game.

I would suggest trying the following steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: Open the elevated command prompt, follow the steps to open the elevated command prompt.

    a. click the Start button.

    (b) in the Start Menu, click programs principally made, followed by accessories.

    (c) in the menu accessories, right-click on command line option.

    d. in the drop-down menu that appears, click on the "Run as Administrator" option.

    e. If you have the User Account Control (UAC) enabled, you will be asked for permission before the opening of the command line. You simply press the button continue if you are the administrator or insert password etc.

Step 2: Try the following steps to activate the Data Execution Prevention, using commands.

    a. in the elevated command prompt, type bcdedit.exe/set {current} nx OptIn and press enter.
NOTE: If for some reason that this command does not DEP after restarting the computer, then use the command bcdedit.exe/set {current} nx AlwaysOn rather.

    b. you should get a success return message.

    c. close the elevated command prompt.

    d. restart the computer to apply.

Note: Once you are done with step 1 and step 2, try to add the data execution prevention program and check if it helps to open the game or not.

    Hope the information is useful.

    Hi, Tractor1o1,

If you choose to protect all programs, you can always turn off DEP for individual programs. If you think that a program does not run correctly when DEP is enabled, check for a compatible version of the DEP program or an update from the software publisher before you change your DEP settings.

  • Why does the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) stop Windows DVD maker work & burn a DVD of my videos?

My operating system is Windows Vista.  I used Movie Maker to make of my recordings of camcorder home movies, but when I try to burn a DVD with Windows DVD Maker, the program closed its doors with an error message - Data Execution Prevention (DEP) has apparently stopped the program for preventing possible dangers for my computer, maybe because he was "bad memory usage".  I tried to turn off DEP for this program, but it won't let me.  How to work around this problem?

NB I have not used the DVD maker for about 20 months, but it worked fine then!

  • Data Execution Prevention ended at Half Life 2 (hl2.exe)

I bought half-life 2 and install it on my new Vista pc. So I finished the installation, and I open up half-life 2. It takes a strangely long time to load, and the second it seems to finish loading, it closes, saying that he had a problem and hl2.exe had to be closed. In my taskbar, a small message will appear, indicating that the prevention of execution of data is completed half-life 2, click here for more details. So I clicked on the little bubble, and he showed a lot of things on the data execution prevention. And so I tried to disable it to hl2.exe and hl2_launch.exe, and then I restarted my computer. Once rebooted, my computer, I opened hl2.exe again. Same thing has happened, data execution prevention blocked hl2.exe. (And I'm sitting at my desk thinking, "Hold it.") Didn't I just put hl2.exe and hl2_launch.exe as exceptions in the data execution prevention? ") So I googled until I found another way to help." Then I went in cmd, it ran as administrator and copied and pasted the code from a help page - bcdedit.exe/set {current} nx AlwaysOff

and you press on enter. I restarted my computer again. When it restarted, I opened half-life 2 and whadd' are knows, I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. So what the hell is happening? Is it my computer? Or did Bill Gates? Help, please. It seems that I can't turn off DEP, and I can't add a program as an exception, even though my computer says I can. Oh yes, and I am the administrator, with all the privileges on my computer.

    Hello

As you have already given an exception to this game and the problem persists, it must have some other programs interrupted during the launch of a game. Try to disable all non-Microsoft programs and then play the game to check its operation.

    1. follow step 1 to perform a clean boot to disable all non-Microsoft programs: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
    2. restart the computer and launch the game to check its operation.
    3. If the game works fine, then follow step 2 to step 6 to find out what is causing the problem: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
    4. follow step 7 to start the computer as usual.

You can also check if the problem continues in a new user account.

  • Windows Update gets closed by Windows Data Execution Prevention

Running Windows XP Pro with SP3.  Windows Update is set to warn me of updates.

For the last two days, whenever I turn on, a popup appears saying

-Microsoft Windows data execution prevention.  To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program.  Name: Windows Update.  Publisher: Microsoft Corporation.

It gives me a "close this window" button, but if I click on it it just reappears.  The offending executable seems to be wuauctl.exe.

I checked and the only wuauctl.exe on my system is where it should be, in \Windows\System32\, although there are also a large number of \Windows\pchealth\ErrorRep\UserDumps entries all from when I first encountered the problem.

What has gone wrong and what I would do to this topic?

    ger1atric,
I suggest that you make sure you have Latest Windows Update Agent.  If you do and are still getting the error, then try the steps listed below.

If your computer is set to apply DEP to all programs and services, the DEP error message will have a change settings button. If an update of the program is not available, follow these steps to add an exception for the program of the DEP error message:

    1. When you receive the error message, click change settings.
    2. Click to select the check box next to the program, and then click apply.
    3. When you are prompted to restart your computer, double click on OK and restart your system.

You can also add an exception for the program by using System Properties in Control Panel. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, click run, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
    2. Click the Advanced tab, click performance, and then click settings.
    3. In the Performance Options, click the Data Execution Prevention tab, and then click Add.
    4. In the Open dialog box, locate and then click the program.
    5. Click Open, click apply, and then click OK. When you are prompted to restart your computer, click OK.
