  Check and make sure that you have followed the method to allow the game through the protection of execution of data (DEP) below.

  As you have tried to turn off the DEP which resulted in a command prompt to turn to launch the game, I suggest to create a new user account and install the game and check.

  I am trying to use a program that I just installed yesterday called "Sculptris" this program allows to create 3D Sculptures. When I click the icon, DEP closed Windows program and says that the file is checked as an .exe program. I tried many attempts to stop DEP in Windows and even try to keep the DEP, with the exception of this one program. All of my recent attempts have failed, and I don't know where to go from here. If anyone knows how I can stop off DEP, or even just for a single program, that would be greatly appreciated. I tried to cut the DEP from the prompt, but still access is denied.   Here's the question.  I play Day of Defeat: Source steam.  After one of their updates I started getting errors when I leave the game.  He told me that DEP closed the program.  I go to settings to turn off DEP for hl2.exe (the program for the game that crashes), but get an error saying that the program SHOULD run with DEP.  Now, just check the number, I take on my laptop that I use for the trip.  Running the same OS and I have exactly the same problem.  I fought back with this trying to get DEP to allow this program to run, but he used.

  I'm at my wits end at the moment.  I contacted STEAM on this subject, but they keep linking me to windows help links and have no idea why I can't add it to the list of DEP exceptions.  STEAM insists that it is a Windows problem, even if I'm having this problem on my desktop AND my laptop.

  Both systems are well above the recommended game system configuration, two systems working for several years with this game up to now, the two systems running the same operating system.

  What antivirus/antispyware/security products do you have on the machine? Be one you have NEVER on it
