the desktop icons will reappear after reboot

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on Asus g60 laptop that I just bought.  I always hide my icons the desktop, but for some reason some they keep reappearing after I restart.  I do not think that this happens every time, but it happens at least at every restart of the 3rd.  It gets really annoying.  Even the "Show desktop icons" box is checked.  Help, please!

Well, I tried what l1willia said, but it does not solve the problem.  I ended up uninstalling Power4Gear Hybrid and it seems to have solved the problem.  What piece of garbage that the software was lol

Thanks for the comments and if it does not solve the problem permanently, I will reply to this message.

account d) log your computer with a user who has of administrator rights.

I can't find mention of the graphics accelerator intel in the list of applied patches.

    Suggestions:

    1. go into "View Update history" > mark down the KB # of you February patch.
    2. If your Windows Update is set to Auto, change it to manual.
    3. do a system restore. Choose the date before you install the latest Windows Update as your restore point.
    4. If everything is back to normal after the system restore, ask a question in the Windows Update forum. Ask if this KB # is required to install or if you can ignore that.

  • The desktop icons to change the order after reboot

Original title: the icons on the desktop in the Land of window 8

Hello my friends. Before entering my question, I would like to thank all those who more graciously helped me with the many difficulties that I had with my old Dell XPS 8100 Studio, running Windows 7, Service Pack One, who went from the realms of the puffy clouds, halos, and * cherubs Flyin 'around pluckin' at the age of harps. Unfortunately he succumbed to Cyber Devils and digital demons that has infected. Even after the Pixel priest to perform an Electrosisim filled with the anointing of the Holy soldering, the pose of the figures on Ctrl-Alt-Delete, an attempt to restore to an earlier time, the computer was found dead of CPU. So at 2:35 on July-11-2013 with a tear to the eye and a hand shaking, I pulled the plug on my old Dell XPS Studio 8100 paper weight for 3 years and he passed quietly in the mist of the net and internet wholesale in the cloud. :)) So now I have a new ASUS computer and it runs Windows 8, and a few things are not as they were in Windows 7 like the arrangement of the icons on the desktop. Now, in Windows 7, I could resize, change the image and place the icons where I wanted to, and as long as I box unchecked her "snap to grid" in the settings under view they would remain locked in their assigned positions. Good, assuming that the parameters for the icons were the same as they were in Windows 7 in Windows 8, I went to the subject to carefully arrange my icons. When I had finished my task, I went in the view and the box unchecked that pesky 'snap to grid' and everything seemed fine until I had the need to restart the computer. After restart my office came on the screen and I couldn't believe my eyes, all of the icons that I had planned so carefully were in their original position they were before them, I changed? I went quickly into the display and don't you know that the "Snap to grid" box was checked. I tested this confusing situation several times, and any time the results were the same? Now, once more I seeks the advice and wisdom of you Wizards of Windows and Microsoft Magi digital defenders of the net in the hope that you might have a solution to my situation. Sincerely yours, Esq. Tiffany Amber Snow "Help me Obi Wan, you're my only hope"

    Hi Tiffany,

This problem may occur if there are a few themes that are installed on the computer, which interferes with the operation of the desktop icons.

Perform the steps mentioned below and see if it helps.

a: Right-click on an empty space on the desktop and then click on Personalize.

b: Then click on Change Desktop Icons option present in the upper left.

c: uncheck the option allow themes to change desktop icons.

d: Click apply , then Ok.

Answer please if you have any questions.

  • Uncheck show desktop icons can I him repeat these steps, and then select Show the desktop icons are the same icons that I had before reappearing?

If a right click the office click on view, then uncheck show desktop icons and restart or turn off and turn on my computer can I repeat these steps, and then show the desktop icons check will be the same icons that I had before reappearing!

Yes. This control simply allows you to show or hide. It does not change the contents of the desktop (C:\Users\\Desktop) user-defined folder. Good luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Crazy" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com Windows help - www.rickrogers.org

  • The desktop icons do not respond after the use of IE

    Hello

Anyone got a solution for this? When the computer is turned on I can use the icons on the desktop, no problem. However, after I used Internet Explorer from the desktop icons don't respond well the pograms can be opened from the start menu. As the recent problem I tried uninstalling some updates recently installed, without solving the problem. Using Windows Vista and IE9

After that I used Internet Explorer from the desktop icons do not respond

Does that mean exactly?   For example, what do you see?   For the best answer to this question, you could use ProcMon and know what modules are involved when you do what these are.   ;  )

However, without using ProcMon you can check with the Manager task or resource or ProcExp monitor if there is always a hidden background iexplore.exe processes running or anything related to IE which started as a result of your using IE.   If so then try to kill these processes.   Etc.

Related to this, you could also consider what you used IE before your symptoms occurred.   This means that would understand that make your "desktop icons" and change it to something more neutral.   For example, if you had clicked on was a shortcut Internet (aka the .url file) that requires a network connection, change for people who only runs locally, such as about: blank.   So if you could close the window that has opened and always use the shortcut you would have refined your description of symptom to involve the network connections.

Related to that, would be your security package, for example, some are trying to act as a hidden proxy to "analyze" the HTTP traffic.   Then the problem would not be IE but the hidden proxy.  Etc.

You can't wait for a "fix" until you have a fully understood symptom.   More details and diagnosis is necessary IMO.

  • My Windows 7 desktop icons will be a small box around them, the box is white and has perforated lines. Not a big deal, all simply boring.

My Windows 7 desktop icons will be a small box around them, the box is white and has perforated lines.  Not a big deal, all simply boring.  It is usually around the last icon I used.  But sometimes randomly will appear around, most frequently the trash.

Have you tried to go to customize and change your theme?  Maybe redefine things will help the issue.  You can also try re - install (or looking for a newer version of) your graphics card driver.  You can normally find this by going to the manufacturer of your computer site, click Help, and then by entering your model number.

  • missing desktop icons and reappear at the start?

I have a desktop PC with i7 and 16 GB. It runs on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Whenever I start my PC, all the desktop icons appear normally and quickly at the beginning. Then at the end of the initialization, all the desktop icons would change the folder symbols of gray before returning to their normal color symbols, one or both. The PC works fine otherwise. So, what's up with that?

When google, many seem to have a similar problem, but none offer a REAL solution. Care to help? Please provide only the answers that have been soundproofed/accepted as a solution to the problem.

    Hello

It is regrettable that the steps in my previous post did not help to solve the problem. This problem could occur due to the corruption of the file system or damaged user account.

Please follow the steps mentioned below:

    Method 1: run (SFC Scan) System File Checker because this could be a problem with corruption in the Windows system files. System File Checker is a Microsoft Windows utility that allows users to search for and restore corruptions in Windows system files. Consult the following link;

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-us

    Method 2:

You can create a new user account on your computer, and then check.

    Create a new user account
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/create-a-user-account

If you are not faced with the same question in a new user account, you can check the link below and use the steps provided to screw a corrupted user profile
