  • Dimension 5150 - ideal for the installation of extra memory Modules

    Greetings-

I'm looking for advice on the ideal placement of some extra memory modules.  My intention is to increase the original 2 x 512 MB memory by adding 2 x 1 GB which should theoretically give me a total of 3 GB.

Currently, my Dimension 5150 has a module of 512 MB at the location 1 and another in the Groove 3.  My dilemma is - in which slots should I put the additional modules of 1 GB?

For more efficiency and recognition, it would be preferable to use connectors 1 and 3 for modules of 1 GB and then move the 512 MB modules in slots 2 and 4... or should I just go ahead and put the two new modules in the slots of alternative 2 and 4?

The optimal placement tips will be appreciated.

I have a penchant for this old DELL PC, who recently returned to me after many years and I would use it in the company of another DELL later models... because its worth it.

    Best regards, Vicko

If I did that, I pull the current memory, install the new memory and run some diagnostics above to ensure that the new memory is good.

I then add the memory current po and run diagnostics and ensure that games memory agree between them.

I've had times where bad corresponding memory worked well and moments where he does not understand that is why I suggest this approach.

  • Satellite A100-998 - support 2 GB RAM modules?

    Hello

I'm looking to upgrade the memory of my laptop. The vehicle currently have 2x1GB modules in the expansion slots. The manual says it takes PC4200 200 pin memory, but does not specify if it will accept 2 GB sticks as this http://www.ebuyer.com/product/164911. It does not mention of the sticks of 256 MB, 512 MB and 1 GB.

However, I see no reason why he would not support the higher capacity, if I wanted to move to 4-GB memory total. Can someone confirm that this will work? Thank you!

    Andrew

    Hi André,.

According to the specs on the page of Toshiba, Satellite A100-998 supports 2-GB memory modules. This means that you can install the 2 GB of memory in each memory slot for a maximum capacity of 4 GB.

For example, I recommend high-quality Kingston modules. I always buy Kingston modules for upgrade and never had any problems.

    Can I replace it with 2 x 2 GB PC6400 (800 Mhz)?

    Hello

I checked the specifications of Satellite A210-18 and it supports up to 4 GB of memory. This means that you can replace with 2x2gb modules.

But according to the specifications it supports only DDR PC5300 speed up to. PC6400 will work, but they only work with PC5300 speed. All that, but they work!

  • Satellite A300D PSAH8A replace the memory module

    Hi, everyone, I have a satellite A300D *(PSAH8A-01K00H) has only 2 G of RAM.
I want to upgrade my RAM to 4 G, but not very well what RAM (I mean DDR2 or DDR3), how fast is compatible with the motherboard)

Someone can give me some advice or a website to find its material information, would be much appreciated thanks in advance.

    Lee

    Hi mate

Notebook´s RAM upgrade depends on the chipset.
Means that you should check the properties of the chipset.

But as far as I know the laptop must support 4 GB of RAM, and AFAIK you could use DDR2 modules RAM 800 MHz.

PS: this information must also be placed in the user's manual. Then maybe you should check this too ;)

    Hello

It of not difficult to remove or Exchange the memory modules because you only check Chapter 8 and 9 of your owner's manual. In the user manual, you can find a detailed explanation how to do this with a few photos and what you need to the modules of RAM.

You can easily remove the memory modules.

Remove the screw that is blocking the Bay, and you will have access to the module.

  • Question about the use of the memory modules

I have a dilemma between the use of a new 1 GB memory (what I intend to buy) with more speed
and by using the 1 GB + my old 256 with less speed
    which option will contribute more?

    Hello

The fact is that if you use 2 different memory modules with different properties (of lower performance) so the laptop can run with lower performance. This means that the 256 memory module slows down you memory. The best way is to use the same modules having the same properties.

  • Satellite P200D-12f - can I use the 800 Mhz RAM memory modules?

    Hello!

I have a satellite p200d-12f pspbqe model laptop.
It has RAM 2 x 1 gb 667 mhz in it.
So the qustion is: can I put 800 mhz RAM in my laptop? My motherboard supports 800 mhz ram?

    Thank you!

    GLIST

    Hi mate

The speed of RAM depends on the chipset FSB!
If the chipset would support 800 Mhz module RAM would you also with 800 Mhz.

But if the chipset does not support FSB 800 Mhz then you RAM modules would be locked at the speed that is supported by FSB

So you can use 800 Mhz but this makes no sense if the FSB is slower.

    You check the chipset properties!

  • Satellite L50 - B - 1 HM - how to replace the memory module?

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite L50 B - 1 HM, product number: PSKTAE 072017CE. It has 8 GB of RAM but is expandable to 16 GB.

My question is, should I buy a 8 GB memory module? (and I would add up to 16 GB).
Or should I buy a 16 GB memory module to completely replace the memory of 8 GB?

Memory 8 GB Toshba module I've found is the following: P000577360

    Thanks in advance

    Kind regards

    Hello

Googling around, I found also specification for your model of laptop and if I understand it is just your machine can be upgraded up to 16 GB for you can use 2x8GB.

Compatible 8 GB of RAM for your machine has PA5104U-1M8G part number.

I n t have this model of laptop, so I put t know if there is coverage of RAM placed on the lower side of your laptop. If this isn't the case, RAM could be placed under the keyboard so RAM upgrade must be performed by the Toshiba service provider. Removal of material or to open the case of the laptop on your own is the warranty.

    Be careful about this.
