The HDD in Latitude D630 upgrade to 1 TB?

Hello

I have a question and can't find the answer in the docs of Latitude D630 published.

I think to upgrade the HARD drive in my D630 and can't help but notice the Western Digital 1 TB drives. Question is simply whether someone knows if this HARD drive would lie in the D630?

I am aware that the 1 TB drive has a profile that is slightly larger than the low-capacity discs (12.5 mm 9.5 mm as far as I can tell). But I can't find anything in the docs Dell to indicate the authorized maximum hard drive form factor.

Thank you

Pete

No, it doesn't - you need a thinner drive or 9.5 mm.

  • Update the Bios on Latitude D630?

I just upgraded my Latitude D630 by installing Windows 7 Home Premium and increase the RAM to 4 GB. The installation went well and everything seems to work well. I notice that the version of the BIOS is currently A04, but the latest version of Dell's A19. I would win anything performance update the BIOS to version A19, or am I better leave well enough alone?

It is best to leave it alone. BIOS updates must be made before the hardware upgrades, but extra memory is not new material. If it all works, you are fine. Some updates to the bios are problems that you don't have, or you don't need improvements. Given that your model is of 2008-9, there rarely need a bios update.

Dell says this about this bios which is 2010 with an update in 2013.

Dell recommends the customer to review details about the update to determine if it applies to your system. The update contains changes that impact only certain configurations, or provides new features that may does not apply to your environment.

  • Upgrade the HDD on the Satellite U200

3 months ago I bought a Toshiba SATELLITE PRO U200 Jarir Bookstore in Saudi Arabia and I now want to move the HDD of 80 GB to 160 GB.
However, I note that 1.46 GB the drive hard EISA is partitioned and is not assigned a drive letter. I guess that's the operating system or something like the laptop came preloaded with Windows Vista Business.
I have the DVD of restoration and would normally just mount the new drive and boot from the DVD following the same procedure as a normal PC. But I can't copy the EISA partition on the new disk. How to pass on the new disk?

    Hello

Why not to duplicate the entire HARD drive on the new. There are enough programs fulfil-> www.ubcd4win.com.

Otherwise just install your new HARD drive in your machine, perform a restore of the system on your new HARD drive, copy your files on it and that's all. Don t worry about the partition, if it s on your old HARD drive and restoring the system should probably create it on the new hard drive.

You won´t know until you've tried it. :)

Please give some feedback after your restored your system, would be interesting to know if the recovery has created a new partition "EISA".

    Welcome them

  • Upgrade the HDD in Equium M50-192

    Hi all

I have a laptop Equium M50-192 with the HDD 60 GB MK6021GAS inside.
Does anyone know if I can improve it with the hard disk of 120 GB MK1646GSX.

I found the site http://www.storage.toshiba.eu and I checked the two discs; but I don't know if the MK1646GSX disk has a compatible interface type.
I am confused about the differences between ATAPI/IDE (60 GB MK6021GAS) and Serial ATA (120 GB MK1646GSX).

Basically can anyone tell me if the 120 GB MK1646GSX will work instead of the 60 GB MK6021GAS?

    Any help gratefully received.

    Zoe

    Hello

There is a big difference between the IDE HDD and the SATA HDD interface!

Equium M50 supports the IDE interface and only IDE hard drives are compatible.
You can use a HARD drive that supports IDE ATA-6 interface.

In addition, you should know that the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation. This means that not all HARD drive sizes are supported.
In my opinion the 120 GB should be ok but it s just my personal suggestion. You know? ;)

  • Need help of the correct SAS 2.5 upgrade option "HDD for PowerEdge T620

I want to add the disk to an existing Dell PowerEdge T620 (service tag GTPKDV1) storage. The vehicle currently has 7 300 GB SAS 2.5 "hot, two virtual drives (300 GB RAID1) and RAID5 1116 GB replaceable drives. There are 16 bays.

Browsing the Dell store for server upgrade parts I am surprised not to see that two form factors for of 2.5 "10K rpm SAS drives. only 300 or 900 GB. Nothing to do with higher speeds or more capacity! And I'm not even sure, one of the search results is really 2.5 "because the Web site product description does not indicate the size at all.

    300 GB of the manufacturer: 15NM6 | Dell reference: 342-2016 (accessories.dell.com/.../productdetail.aspx

900 GB of the manufacturer: TPMWF | Dell reference: 342-4143 (http://accessories.dell.com/sna/products/Hard_Drives_Storage/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=bsd&cs=cabsdt1&sku=342-4143&mfgpid=225343)

The 900 GB is described as a hybrid drive. What is a drive hybrid? Isn't SAS, SAS?

There are several results that seem to be variations on the 300 GB 10 K 2.5 "disk SAS6. They are all the same product? Why the different reference numbers?

The H710p wouldn't even try to use the 300 to rebuild the 1.8 TB drive failure, as the reader will not be perceived as a Hot Spare for this virtual disk. A 300 GB global Hot Spare would be able to rebuild any 300 GB or more small disc. If the Global Hot Spare is a 1.8 to it should rebuild one of these virtual drives.

  • Dell Latitude d630 and Windows 7

Does anyone know why Dell does not support Win7 on a Dell Latitude d630?

This machine was built with Windows Vista 32 - bit o/s on 24 November 2008. The date of the original invoice was on May 22, 2009. Win7 was not released until October 2009. The guy I bought it from had installed Win7 and I don't have the disks of backup or restore with it. It works fine except it doesn't have enough RAM, (which is not a big deal). The problems occurred when I tried to update the drivers and found that there is no driver for this model with Win7. When I called Dell, they said that they do not support Win7 on this laptop.

So I was just curious to know if anyone knew why? I won't lose money, upgrading the RAM if Win7 is going to be a problem.

Although W7x86 lists 1 GB as the minimum, I found 2GB for the sweet spot minimum.

More RAM is always a good investment, and even if you decide not to run W7 on this PC (I hope that your friend bought the license outright to pass on to you), more RAM will be beneficial to XP, Ubuntu or another OS, you decide to run on it.  However, more RAM is unable to completely cure your slow, because this might be a result (partially or totally) infections by malware, software problems, corruption of the file system or a bad hard drive... a reinstall to your specifications may be in order.

You can also try searching the forums (or Internet) to get an idea of real world experiences.  I think that there should be no problem... I managed a few s D830 (similar systems - a step towards the top, but even age/line) at work who has installed and have run W7 flawless.

I have a Latitude D630 with processor T7700 and I thought to upgrade to a T9500, the same socket and the same chipset so that we should not have a problem...  Right...  Well well not so fast... I would bet the farm that I needed a Micro-FC-PGA package type, since that's what had my D620... I executed the Lavalys Everest just to be sure and BIG Surprise... It reported a CPUID of 6FBh and CPU Stepping E1, which correspond to the type of Micro-BGA package...  Balls and no pins...  Has anyone out there exchanged a CPU on a recent generation D630?  If so, was he balls or pins?

    Hello

I have HP Pavilion DV6-6169se, and I'm looking to update.

Can I know what is the available upgrade options?

    Thank you.

    Hello

    Since the following specifications:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02866520

    My suggestions (using this order):

    1. RAM: you can go to 8 GB, this will improve a bit.  Please use the following site to scan your machine. It will tell you exactly what you need and where to buy, or you can also use the information to buy elsewhere:

    http://www.crucial.com/USA/en/systemscanner

2 replace the HDD with a SSD: you can see many improvements during startup, downtime, open applications and save files. If you run applications that require a lot of Scriptures, SDD is much faster than the HARD disk.

3 CPU: upgrade CPU on laptops is a delicate issue. Please check the list before I go buy. The first manual on the following list a unelistede CPU is supported:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us & LC = in & Product = 5116493

    Good luck.

  • Computer laptop need to change the HDD in the SDS?

Have 3 questions related to the Toshiba SSD!
    1. what laptop need to change the HDD in the SDS?
ATA, http://www.toshiba.com/taec/adinfo/ssdfacts/ so 1.8 and 2.5, I look at who is the same dimenssions and right?

    2. I have this model Toshiba R200-S2031, is it possible to change drive HARD 80-SSD 256 1.8 inches? I understand that my model has 1.8 IDE I can't take 2.5? But replace IDE ATA is possible that they are the same size?

    3. If I R500 with 64 SSD drive, can I replace it it with greater SDS and the same size of thumb? Let's say I have 2.5 64 GB SSD ich so I could replace it with 500 GB SSD?

    tnaks for answers.
and Toshiba - thanks to make small laptops, really enjoy.
you want to update faster, but I LIKE THEM!
    Thanks Toshiba!

    Husbands

    (1) as a general rule, all laptops can be upgraded to an SSD. If the connector on the SSD is the same as the original hard drive connector, it should work.

    (2) I believe there are 1.8 "PATA SSD available, google is your friend.

    (3) I think the R500 is using a connector ZIFF customized for the SSD drive, then you will not be able to install a standard SATA or PATA 2.5 "SSD Drive. I don't know if you can buy SSDS with the connector ZIFF, once again, google can help you.

  • Satellite L755 - how to return to Windows 7 using the HDD Recovery folder

    are how you today

    I own a toshiba Satellite L755.
I have recently upgraded to windows 7 to windows 8, and now I do not have windows 8. I want to go back to windows 7.

Many people say that it is possible using the HDD Recovery folder that I have on my D drive and it s 13.5 GB.

What I need is to know if its possible and if you can you explain to me how its done.

I searched the Web for an answer for tha last 4 hours and I thank you

    > Many people say that it is possible using the HDD Recovery folder that I have on my D drive and it s 13.5 GB

A lot of people said you can use HARD drive recovery in order to put the system back to factory settings.
This true s but this is possible ONLY if the system has not been modified.

In case you have changed the system, you could go back to the factory settings using the recovery disk!
Recovery disk may be created using the preinstalled tool called Toshiba Recovery Media Creator.

Have you created this disc in the past!

  • Can I put the HDD on Portege R400?

    Hello

I would like to ask, if it is possible to upgrade the drive HARD internal on Portege R4OO. I would like to change my internal 80 GB 4200 RPM HARD drive to any thing with 5400 or 7200 RPM, is this possible? I think, that I have Toshiba MK8007GAH there and is 1.8 "HARD drive, somewhere I can buy 1.8" HDD at 5400 RPM or higher?

    Thank you

    Hello

You can upgrade the HDD on the Portege, but the HARD drive must be compatible!
You have a 80 GB (4200 RPM) Slim PATA (1.8-inch) MK8007GAH) HARD drive.

In my opinion, you can also use a 100 GB and 120 GB HDD with higher rotation. This should t be a problem.

Check this box and come back and display the result.

  • Satellite U205-S5002: cannot retrieve the Express Media Player after upgrading the HARD drive

So I bought just a new Toshiba Satellite U205-S5002 I love it. One of the great features that interest me was the Express Media Player feature.

My first step was to upgrade the hard disk and 160 GB and 2 GB ram.
I placed the disk and ram in my old laptop and sold it.

Before that I did, I made a copy ghosts and ghost of the hard drive to the new drive. Well come to find out...

Toshiba is not provided with this software preinstalled, so I followed the instructions to burn my recovery disk Express Media Player and the boot on the new disk.
So this is where the saga begins...

After 15-20 seconds, I get a soothing blue screen (NOT of blue BSOD you mind) who says:

    /!\
An error occurred during the recovery of "Express Media Player".
    -------------------------------------------------------
Please pick up the image again from the beginning.
    Press any key to exit.

It is typed exactly as it is on the screen. So, I see some other forums saying: you must have the free space of the disk so I resize the partition that allows 200 MB of space. Always the same... then try 2 GB even... then the 50 GB, same problem...

OK, so obviously not a question of space. I read while I might need to erase the drive... so I delete the partition, this same error... then I run the recovery disk and tell him to wipe the drive, wait 1 1/2 hour, it ends. No dice! So I decide... ok... Well lets try another disk... I have restored my ghost image... and burned the image again... same question... so I decide to the recovery disk and I'll try to reinstall windows in the factory and make a record...

Well, it does not work as well as you think... the image is incomplete... windows works fine... but the c:\Toshiba\ExpressMediaPlayer folder is empty!

I'm happy that I have ghosts my original directory. But I decide allows to Express Media Player a shot more now that I have restored to factory... always the same error... I then decide a trial more... I'll erase drive 1.5 hours, I'll restore from toshiba dvd provided but leaving plenty of space at the end 2 GB (I have a lot about people who tell you to base just around 200 MB)

5 hours later... moment of truth... Well Yes you guessed it... I don't know anything else to try... I have a bad image?
You need one that I can download what has worked for them for sure? Or have - I have completely found myself by replacing the HDD with after market and which is originally a kind of compatibility issue?

    Thank you in advance.
    Gabe at supergeekz dot com

    Hello

    It s a great story!
I put t know how to start so maybe first some info on the Express media player.

As you said, and has already proposed the Express media player has been preinstalled on the second partition.
If you want to install this media Express on the HARD disk drive, 150-200 MB of free space must be available. This free space must be on the end of the HARD drive and there must be unallocated.
To get these free space on the HARD disk, 3 third-party products should be used as for example the Partitions Magic 8!

I'm not going to write a story how to recover the Express media player because Toshiba has already created useful documents, which described complete installation!
I found these documents in the knowledge base of computer Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=EU&ID=TIC2
