  • Disable the creation of Automatic System Restore Point? -SOLVED

Is it possible to disable the automatic creation of System Restore Point (to prevent Windows to create points of food every day and after (re) install programs / Windows updates)?

I want to manually create System Restore Points because the automatic creation uses too much space, because I install new programs very often.
Note that I still want to use system restore. I don't want it to be automatic.

    Hello

Well, Yes, you can shut down the computer to automatically create restore points by disabling the system of protection under the system restore. System protection is a function that creates and records information about your computer's system files and settings regularly. The system protection also saves previous versions of files that you have modified. It saves these files in the restore points that are created just before significant system events, such as the installation of a program or device driver. They are also created automatically once every seven days if no other restore points were created in the last seven days, but you can create restore points manually at any time.

Again, I suggest you to create a restore point when you turn off system protection. Basically, to store restore points, you need at least 300 megabytes (MB) of free space on each hard disk with the system on Protection. System Restore can use up to 15 percent of the space on each disk. As the amount of space fills up with restore points, System Restore deletes older restore points to make room for the new. The system protection, the feature that creates restore points, is enabled by default. We recommend that you keep System Protection turned on for all hard disks that contain important files so that you can use system restore if you need to.

    Hey

    > So I tried to restore the system restore point that is known, but the system fails to restore at this time there.
And why does it fail? You get an error message or what is exactly happening?

Generally speaking, it of necessary to write an accurate description of the error. Something like it doesn't work or it fails isn't useful and could mean everything.

Have you ever tried a recovery facility?

  • Frequent blue screens, load error popups, no more access to the Windows Firewall or system restore.

ORIGINAL TITLE: Many many problems at once.

I get frequent crashes and Blue Screen of Death, and error loading of pop-up windows, so I can't access Windows Firewall or system restore. What happens here? I deleted the last hardware (a second printer) and a P2P program.  I ran AVG antiviris and Superantispyware programs several times, same mode without failure, but nothing have mounted there. I also have a report of error that Windows Firewall / Internet Connection Sharing Service cannot start due to a missing path.  Which maybe can be causing all these problems? I think of reformatting my hard drive, but it's a last resort.

I could not run the system restore, even in safe mode. Last good known Configuration did not work, either. However, clean boot seems to have done the trick. I no longer get the popups on start up and I can access firewall Windows, which is now on. Oddly enough, my EVG and Superantispyware programs wouldn't let me download the latest updates. Since they are free programs, they offer very little help to solve problems, so I uninstalled both of them (at the same time as Windows Defender to avoid conflicts) and installed Windows Security Essentials which works very well. My last problem is one is the crash suddenly, but to be honest I him have not lived since the clean boot. Hoping that...

Thank you very much for your help. I was almost to the point of reformatting my hard drive, this is not a walk in the Park, no matter what they say.

  • Cannot connect to the network or perform system restore after installing updates have been

WIN 7 Home Premium running on a gateway PC connected to the internet via an ethernet connection using a RealTek network adapter for the past 5 years with no problems. Running Avast Pro antivirus / internet security.  09/02/2016, Microsoft and Avast downloaded and installed updates on the PC.  After the PC auto-redémarré as part of the Microsoft updates, I couldn't connect to the internet.  Connect to the network now says unidentified network - no network connection.  The adapter looks like to she always sees the (watch 100 Mbps) connection, but no data packet move.  Device Manager indicates that the unit is working normally.

I ran through the resolution of the problems of Windows network. I checked the cable was attached, reset the home modem, reset the adapter (toggle), uninstalled/reinstalled using the latest adapter driver available.  I have disabled the Windows Firewall because Firewall Avast wouldn't start.  I disabled all the Avast settings to see if it eliminated the problem.  I tried to run the system restore before the updates but continue to spread the message that there was an unexplained error and restore failed.  All this was done in Normal mode. I restarted mode safe and had the same problems without success.

I was able to clear the problem by manually uninstalling updates of security Windows which were loaded on 09/02/2016 through the programs and features Control Panel. Then I did the repair of Avast program operation.  I rebooted the computer and the internet connection worked. Then I reinstalled manually updates Windows security on the Windows Update program.

  • How can I increase the recovery of Windows system restore drive 7?

I have windows 7 ultimate and I read someone's question on the increase in the recovery of the system and I was wondering how to find it on my laptop and desktop? Because if I can and have better if restore points I ever need to go back which would help in the right now with my laptop, that my restore points back only 7 days. Which is weird, this laptop has been used longer than 7 days and I for 2 days.

And it is the same for windows 7 Home premium? So I could show my father and my brother as well :)
    Thanks Cortana :)

System Restore saves as many restore points as he shared.  When the allocated space fills, more older restore points are deleted to make room for the new.

Although SR in Windows 7 is much better than XP, I would always go back much more than a week.  Windows 7 warn you: on the first screen of the system restore, you will notice a link that says "search for affected programs.  Click here to get an idea of what problems might arise if you go ahead with the restoration.

Also, the list of restore points that shows initially cannot be completed.  Check the box "Show more restore points" to see the rest of them.

Here's how to adjust the space allocated to the restoration of the system (all Win 7 versions): http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/how-much-disk-space-does-system-restore-require

Here are answers to some common questions about the system restore.

Remember, the system restore saves its restore points on the same drive that is "protection". If this disc fails, both your system AND your backup disappeared.  Best practice would be to save the backups on an external support.

If you want to stay with built-in tools, see, for example:

    Hi valex1009,

VGA is a port analog HDMI is digital. For use with system, you would need a signal converter, as shown in the image below:

You can buy online (from sites like Amazon or ebay) or of any local store. And here's one: http://amzn.to/16nnphV that might help.

Availability of a part may vary depending on your region.

  • Location of the files after a system restore

I recently had to do a restore of the system on my computer (Windows XP). My files still exist somewhere and I don't know how to locate and return to their 'present '.

Good!  This clears things up a bit.  Apparently you have been using the account administrator for your files and recently your user profile is damaged.  When a user profile is damaged, Windows creates a temporary user profile that seems empty (as you discovered).  Whatever you do, don't give in to the temptation to just drag your files where they are currently directors / My Documents in your current profile because it is a temporary profile that will be deleted when you log off the coast and with it will go all your files.  The recovery is quite simple and intuitive.  Simply follow the instructions in one of the following KB articles:
