  • New HDD in my Dell INSPIRON N5010 laptop, will I go to 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM HARD drive

I bought the DELL N5010 laptop about 4 years back, and currently it is more under warranty.
2 days back my hard drive crashed and could not start or install the OS as there are bad sectors on the hard drive has. I plan to buy a new hard drive.

Which one should I go for a 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM. I would go to 7200 RPM, as it is faster, but I read on the internet that the 7200 RPM generates more heat then 5400 RPM and my laptop is already facing heating problem. I had replaced the fan about 2 months as my laptop used to close because of the heat. The problem of heating has not changed, but laptop does not stop :)

Anyone using the DELL N5010 laptop with a 7200 RPM HARD drive and he's fine?

Any kind of recommendation will be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Sach

Thanks for the recommendation. The sales in the shop man also recommended the same thing. I bought Seagate 5200 SSHD(Solid State Hybrid Drives) which is still better than the conventional hard drive. :)

    Kind regards

  • Dell inspiron N5010 stops when starting in 10-15 seconds

I am facing some kind of problem with my Dell inspiron N5010 laptop. Whenever I take my laptop to some place let home College will stop start, when I turn on my laptop it starts but after that 10-15 seconds it stops, also when I try to keep the system in the bios it still stops within 10-15 seconds.

Twist in the problem, is that if I keep my laptop idle for 20-30 minutes, it starts to work fine (I never remove battery or just left my laptop ram idle)

Another thing is that I face ths portable computer wheonlyn problem is done by me in my backpack or you can tell when the laptop is subject to movment.

I've noticed this trend seriously. For 15 days I did not move my laptop on my desk and it works like any normal laptop computer, but today when I took it to my place of friends, and when I tried to start it it starts and stops within 15 seconds while the startup I've done the same left witouth slowed even kidnapping ram or battery or charger for 10-15 minutes and then it starts to work very well.

Why is this happening, it is there is a problem I have material or just a bad connection.

    Hello

I have the same dell inspiron n5010, which stops immediately when turned on. doesn't even go beyond the DELL welcome screen! All my attempts to clean the fan/vents and reapply the thermal paste on cpu/gpu dint solve the problem, more than doubling the cpu/RAM/HDD. Also disconnect all mainboard modules like hard disk, dvd, wifi/Ethernet, sd cards and leaving naked force mainboard solves the problem. Conclusion; MOTHERBOARD IS DEAD! RIP

Technicians will eat your money and some even miraculously make it work but the problem is still there and of course that the night will come back! REPLACE THE * BOARD OR GET NEW!

  • Dell Inspiron 15 HDD 2000-01 42 error code

Dell Inspiron 15 HDD 2000-01 42 error code

A few weeks ago, my laptop was working fine but the next day, my laptop wouldn't pass the Dell logo when turned on. I ran diagnostics on it and gave me the following results:

    Test results: Fail

    Error code: 2000-01 42

    Validation: 123661

I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me exactly the problem with the HARD drive, I need to replace, or there may be a wiring problem?

    Thank you.

    Zaharaq

Error code 2000-0142 indicates a failing hard drive / has failed, you can try to remove and reinstall the hard drive, and then re-run the diagnostic tests and see if you receive the same error.

If the same error is received, the hard drive has failed and you need to replace it, followed by reinstalling windows, then loading the drivers and applications.

    Bev.

  • Inspiron N5010, Windows7 Home Premium, will not start

    Inspiron N5010, Windows7 Home Premium

I was getting messages that the battery had not enough power to power the computer, so I bought a new battery.   Rayovac, which fits perfectly.  I have let it charge the battery for a few hours, then tried to start the computer, plugged into a power outlet.  The computer does not start.  I received a message as follows:

    Windows Boot Manager

Windows could not start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.  To solve the problem:

    1. You insert the Windows installation disc, and then restart your computer.
    2. Chose your language settings and then click "next".
    3. Click on "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this record [and I don't have], contact your system administrator [I guess that's me!] or the manufacturer of the computer.

    Status: OxcOOOOOOe

Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is not accessible.

    -----------------------------------------------

I removed the battery Rayovac and re-inserted the old battery from Dell.  Same result.

    With no battery, same result.

I have attached a USB external HDD which is a clone of the internal HARD disk.  This time I had some kind of message, I don't remember the details, with a button to make a recovery.  I chose that, a new screen came it was a recovery, it was late, so I let it run all night.  This morning, if I clone USB HDD attached or not, the only screen I get when you turn on the computer is mentioned above.  No other option 'valuation '.

I know that the main internal HDD and have both the clone USB HARD drive partitions "Valorisation", but I have no idea how to use or if their use is appropriate in this situation.

When I turn on the F2 key HARD drive internal is listed and properly identified.  I'm not familiar with the other things that are listed, but none of them are obviously reported as having a problem.

I ran hardware tests extended the F12 key repeatedly, all tests pass, so I hope that the problem comes from the OS itself, not a hardware problem.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

On another computer, follow the instructions here to download a Digital River .isos and create a bootable USB:

    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/download-Microsoft-Windows-and-Office/Download-Microsoft-Windows/Windows-7-SP1-ISO-download/

When you have this USB does perform a Startup Repair see page 267 of the Windows reinstallation Guide:

  • Dell Inspiron N5010 8 beeps on start up

    Hello

I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 and it fell out of my bed, since, then it stopped working. Whenever I try turn it on it beeps 8 times in the series.

I went through various discussions in dell community in this regard and have done the following tests.

Test of LCD (D + market) : this test runs fine, able to see the colors strong and when restarted, it gives again 8 beeps

FN + market : it does not work. I have seen in discussions, this should run a diagnostic test. But in my case, nothing happens, 8 beeps continues.

A few posts proposed to remove the CMOS battery for a while and place it again. Who did too much work.

Reconnect the cable to the LCD screen and try, problem still exists.

Can anyone suggest me what might have gone wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

Then to do is replace the video cable - if this does not resolve the problem, it's probably that the motherboard has been damaged in the fall.

  • Thickness of Lenovo IdeaPad Z500 HDD; Replacement of SSD

    Hey guys,.

    I own a Z500 IdeaPad with a ST500LM012 HN-M500MBB 500 GB HDD by Samsung.

I would like to do an upgrade with a 1 TB of HDD, I would put in the HARD Drive Caddy (replacement CD/DVD drive).

And I also intend to get an EVO 840 Samsung SSD, I place in the main HARD disk location.

BUT the HARD drive I have now is 9, 5mm thick. And the EVO 840 is 7 mm thick. I have problems in the main HARD disk location?

And are there opportunities that I can fit a 12, 5mm disk in the location of main HARD drive or the HARD drive caddy?

I'm terribly sorry for my English is not my mother tongue.

    Thanks in advance.

medo994 wrote:... HARD drive, I have at the moment is 9, 5mm thick. And the EVO 840 is 7 mm thick. I have problems in the main HARD disk location?

Answer: Page 71 of the Hardware maintenance manual provides 9.5 mm hdd/sdd can be used. If you have the Player 7.0 mm it can also be accommodated.

medo994 wrote:... And are there opportunities that I can fit a 12, 5mm disk in the location of main HARD drive or the HARD drive caddy?

Answer: For the housing of the primary hard drive, the cage hdd/ssd mounting is designed to 9.5 mm, so a 7.0 mm or 9.5 mm hdd/ssd will fit. However, a 12.5 mm will not match. The caddy, you see the caddy if it can accommodate a hard drive of 12.5 mm. You may need to check the side of the caddy against the STRANGE to see if it will fit in the odd-NUMBERED slot.
