The mouse has left open the attachments in Windows Live Mail, all ideas, Windows 7

I can't open an attachment from my email.  Not particularly a but all one.  Old attachments have also stopped working so it is not just new.  Mouse works fine in other programs and in the mail with the exception of the spare part program.  Thank you

Believe it or not, a simple reboot fixed.  I think I do not re - my computer quite often.  I do it only once a week.   Thank you for your time and effort, I had already done all of these things without success.

You do not open PDF files in Word. You need a PDF reader.

    Create a file association.

    1. download and save the attachment to the office.
    2. right click on the saved file.
    3. Select: Open with on the shortcut menu.
    4. click on: choose [default] program.
    5 Foxit or Adobe select:
    6. check: always use the selected program to open this type of file.
    7. click on OK.

This should allow you to open these attachments directly from email address now.

    If you need a drive:

Adobe is more "well known", but Foxit is much lighter and my personal preference.

    jerryedgar,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers forum.

To open a pdf file, you must have the Adobe Acrobat reader software installed on your computer.  This is a free program that can be downloaded from Adobe here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/ remember you select the operating system and the version that you have installed on your computer.

Once you have Adobe Acrobat reader is installed, all you have to do is double click on the file name to open it.
