The necessary BIOS upgrade assistance

I currently own a Compaq Presario C700 laptop (C751NR / product number KC590UA #ABA) with 2 GB of RAM installed. 2 GB seems to be taken maximum supported RAM even if the BIOS detects 4 GB. The InsydeH20 BIOS is version F.22. Update the BIOS to version F.35 will allow me to add 2 GB of additional RAM on this machine?

The reason why I just downloaded the update and installed, it is it's just not that simple when you run Linux.

Thank you!

Hello:

If you read all the BIOS date of issue of your model on the link below, you will see that none of them add support for more memory.

http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/previousVersions?softwareitem=ob-90323-1 & CC = US & DLC = in & LC = on & os = 2093 & Product = 3646600 & sw_lang =

The max is 2 x 1 GB, and it does not appear that an update of the BIOS will make a difference.

In addition, you must run an operating system supported for flashing the BIOS on HP computers laptop consumer.

  • Satellite U400 - 112 (PSU40E) - Safe BIOS upgrade - SOLUTION

    Dear all,

Trying since long upgrade for the bios of my laptop favorite... Toshiba Satellite U400-112 (PSU40E)
I have Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) English and BIOS version 4.00(until yesterday).
The problem was that, in windows 7 (32 & 64 bit), the tool flash never started the process of update due to several incompatibilities.
There is a solution (in fact a workaround solution) to be honest and works 100%!

    My solution is:

    (A) download the latest bios upgrade version appropriate for your laptop, save it (tomake it is easier in the root of the C:\ drive) and unpack it in a temporary folder (for example: bios).

    (B) use the Hiren's Boot CD a real support from a USB or CD (download and burn a CD or follow the process of CD copy on a USB key).

    (C) boot the laptop from the CD or USB flash and in Hiren's Boot Menu, select the version of mini Windows XP.

    (D) allow completely Windows XP startup and then run the tool to update the bios flash from the temporary folder. The update procedure make it exactly as it is described in the manual of the bios update. (If you are not experienced)

    (E) it will update the bios, and then he stops himself. Then you can start normally your operating system, remove any CD or USB key mounted on it.

I hope you find it helpful and convenient.

    Best regards

    Ioannis

To be honest I updated the BIOS on my U400 (running Win 7 32 bit), A210 (Vista) and Tecra A10 (Win 7 64 bit) using the victory as the BIOS version and never had any problems in running the tool

you have a problem here as Dell does not have Windows 7 drivers available for your model of laptop etc, etc.

  • Satellite M40-276 - memory not detected in the Bios upgrade

    Hi people!

    New kid on the block!

I have a client with a toshiba Satellite m40-276. I've updated his memory to give it a little more to play with...

Went into the bios to see if everything was OK but no projected additional memory. I removed the new and old memory and put in the new 1 GB module and restart the computer.
The bios has not yet changed the size of the old memory?

Went to windows and of course that the memory has been detected it normally?
I added the other memory module and went into the bios again, but no change it?

Windows, however, recognized that the two modules?

His computer is the same bios to factory and has never been updated.

My questions are... why the bios doesn't recognize the upgrade memory? It will help in upgrading the bios?

Enjoy all the suggestions I can get on this issue.

    Thank you

    bookie56

Generally, if you upgrade RAM using tested compatible modules, that should be recognized correctly.
We do not know what modules you use, and I guess that there is a compatibility issue.

RAM on Satellite M40 276 can scale up to 2 GB of RAM and compatible modules are:
    DDR2 400/533 256 MB (PA3389U - 1 M 25)
    512 MB DDR2-400/533 (PA3412U - 1 M 51)
    1 GB OF DDR2 400/533 (PA3411U-1M1G)

  • Tecra M5: Are there special precautions with the Bios upgrade?

Are there special precautions he takes while uprading BIOS. I'm just afraid because both failover system report people after the upgrade, is it true?

    Hello

Of course you need a few special steps if you want to update the BIOS!
The update of the BIOS is risky! If you use the bad BIOS or bad BIOS update procedure, you may damage the motherboard or module ROM BIOS!
This is why you should always read the details of upgrading the BIOS before you start the update.

Finally and above all many people update the BIOS without any reason. That s is really stupid.
In my opinion you should not update anything if you have no problems!
Therefore, never change a running system ;)

If the Upgrade Wizard of Windows 10 becomes blocked or unresponsive to 99%, wait at least 4 to 7 hours. If the installation program does not progress, close the wizard and restart your computer. Follow the instructions to upgrade manually by using the tool of creation of media or file ISO for Windows 10.

If you encounter an error about enough space to perform the upgrade, see the instructions:

How to install Windows 10 on devices with limited space

When you make significant changes to your computer for example updated operating system, you must always back up. See the links to resources on the backup by clicking the link for each version of Windows you are using: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1

    Retry the upgrade manually:

    then

    then

    • Turn off (preferably uninstall) your Antivirus utility before you perform the upgrade.
    • Reboot several times, and then try again.
    • Disable the general USB peripherals (for example - smart card reader). You can do so from the Device Manager.
    • If you have an external equipment, attached to the machine, unplug them (example, game controllers, USB sticks, external hard drive, printers, peripherals not essential).
    • Support your default BIOS reset BIOS.
    • Check if there BIOS updates available for your system, and then to apply them.
    • If you are using a SCSI drive, make sure you have the drivers available for your storage on a USB device and it is connected. During the installation of Windows 10, click on the advanced custom Option and use the command load driver to load the driver for the SCSI drive. If this does not work and the installer still fails, consider switching to an IDE based hard drive.
    • Perform a clean boot, restart, and then try again.
    • If you upgrade to the. ISO file, disconnect from the Internet during the installation, if you are connected in LAN (Ethernet) or wireless, disable both, then try to install.
    • If you are updated through Windows Update, when download reaches 100% disconnect from the LAN (Ethernet) Internet or Wi - Fi, then proceed with the installation.
    • If this does not work, try using the. ISO file to upgrade if possible.

  • The ROMMON upgrade is necessary when upgrading ios in ASR1K

The ROMMON upgrade is necessary when upgrading ios in ASR1K

The ROMMON upgrade is necessary when upgrading ios in ASR1K

    I'd do it.

My logic is very simple: the IOS update requires a reboot, Yes?  The ROMmon update requires a restart.  So why not upgrade the IOS and ROMmon in a remake?

I see really no operational reason DO NOT upgrade the ROMmon.  It must, in all cases I've seen, 20 seconds to upgrade the ROMmon.

ERICO, exchanging, I'll be able to boot from my SSD, but I don't always get to choose which drive I want to start, right?  That's right

If you install Linux on the disk hard inheritance after Windows 7 has already been installed on the SSD drive and use the GRUB boot loader, it should be doable.
