The question of recovery of the Z60m?

I bought a really nice Z60m outside Ebay, its like new condition and Im very happy with it.  I have a question that I would like an answer, if anyone knows.  Seems like the guy I bought to had her wipe 'Tech' operating system, which is fine, except that the problem is they don't just wipe the XP partition, they took the road easy and wiped * EACH * partition, so I have more no recovery partition.

What I have is a HARD drive completely clean and my XP COA on the bottom.  Now what I want to do is to create a set of recovery discs off my T42 wife (who also runs XP Pro) and use them to recreate my Z60m new back to the factory.  I guess my question is: can I do this?  Keep in mind I have COA legal s for XP Pro on two laptops, so it is not a question of the legality of the OS, just a matter of fi T42 rescue disks or recovery discs will work on the reconstruction of my Z60m.

I expect to have to download all the drivers Z60m lenovo site and install them later...

Any ideas on this or better ideas that I have?

sfraden, welcome to the forum,

It can work, set your SATA settings in the bios in compatibility mode and go. Yes, you will need to clean the drivers etc and no doubt use TVSU to get some things working. It will probably work if it isn't - sorry.

Hello again.  I have 2 questions 1 is probably stupid... but you know the old saying... "no question is stupid" or something along that line. :

    1. my D: Recovery shows 2.59 GB free of 25.6 GB.  I guess the 25.6 GB is all the HP stuff put on the computer before delivery and the information used to create a recovery disk, correct?  That do with the 2.55 GB free so be it.

    2. it is not a question of recovery, but I need an answer because it drives me crazy.  Sometimes I get a small box that contains the following information: Adobe Flash play setting Local storage... includes the address of the web site and an application to allow or deny the addition of KB to my computer.  What is this and how can I do?  I do not recognize the address of the site.  If I do not need this thing, can it be disabled and how?

1 do you think is the so-called stupid issue, or both.

    Thank you.

Another question: what is a recovery partition?

To answer your last question above. A recovery partition (D:\Recovery on your machine) contains all of the files to reinstall the OS original and all the drivers/software-PC Restore laptop back to factory settings. It can also be used to reinstall the drivers or software if you accidentally delete something, and then later decide you want or need it.

Created from the files of recovery disks can also be used to reinstall to factory, but takes a little longer to complete recovery partition installation. More big difference is that the discs can be used if your laptop does not boot from the hard disk partition. It also lets you install a new disk hard if you need to replace the drive home due to the failure.

    Reinstall only drivers/software: Windows 8

W/system recovery disks or the recovery partition: Windows 8

  • The question of recovery of the flash!

    Hi guys.

I am new to Oracle and I had little confusion. We use oracle 10.2.0.4.0 on windows 2003 server 64-bit. I just configured the flash recovery area.

Can I use log_archive_dest_1 and whole parameter db_recovery_file_dest? We have the setting two defined as follows

    location of string Log_archive_dest_1 = 'g:\oracle\flash_recovery_area\STUTEST', valid_for =
    (ONLINE_LOGFILE, ALL_ROLES)

    db_recovery_file_dest string G:\oracle\flash_recovery_area

When I check list log I get the following message
    SQL > archive logs list;
    Database log mode Archive Mode
    Active AutoArchive
    Destination of the archive g:\oracle\flash_recovery_area\STUTEST
Sequence of journal online oldest 8119

I think that the destination archive should give USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST?

  • The question of recovery NB200 - 10 p:

Hello! I also have a problem with recovery for NB 200 10 P. When I got the laptop on the D drive, there was 1 folder called HDDRecovery and a file called something like R1080... The problem is that I accidentally renamed this file R1080... and now my recovery does not work. I think that's the reason because I bought this laptop only 3 days ago. Can someone look at and tell me the name of this file and its extension so that I can change and do right. Plssssss! I would be grateful!

    Hello

Unfortunately, I m not NB200 owner so I can't tell you the name of folder to HARD drive recovery, but I have a different opinion.

    You can start the laptop?
If so, you could create a recovery disk (you need external CD/DVD drive) and was able to recover the device using this disc.
As far as I know this will create the partition recovery of HARD drive again.

  • Satellite A660 - question of recovery of the system and Windows software

    Hi all

I recently bought a new Toshiba laptop and created a set of disks for backup use Toshiba Recovery media creator.
Now, this laptop is proved to be defective and was exchanged by another.
There was a slight difference in the software, what the faulty version was preloaded Office 2010 starter and the new Office 2007 trial 60 busy days.

As I have already created backup discs of the defective model (i.e. same spec/model number) can just recover the system using the device backup discs?

The reason why I want to do is that I prefer the Office 2010 Starter version (as opposed to the trial version). Software recovery disks that you create on this computer in particular connected serial number is or can I use them on the new machine to replace the identical specifications?

    Thank you

Generally you can use it if the two laptops have the same part number (model number PAxxxx).

Before that, you create an original DVD for the machine, you now have. If something goes wrong, you can use the original disc.

  • Question on recovery disc HARD on NB200 - 10 p

Hey guys, I need your help.

I installed Windows 7 on my NB200 - 10 p, but it has messed up the recovery. After having tried like 100 times to run the recovery and return to XP, nothing worked and I wiped the partition tables of HARD drive with the idea of installing XP Professional which I own, but loading the installation program displays only the USB and it does not recognize the HARD drive. I had done a backup to a folder named a? Hddrecoverya? that contains the wim for default windows files (checked with 7-ZIP and they contain all the default drive C :).) I copied on a USB key and he ran, but the recovery is stuck on "waiting for odd vacancies...." ».

So my question is how to make a USB bootable from the files I have on my HARD drive and run the recovery? Can someone also make a screenshot of the default C:, D: partition table and the recovery partition so I can recreate it?

    http://WinToFlash.com/

This utility will make a bootable USB key and install a copy of XP on the thumb drive. Let us know if it worked.

As an alternative, you can download a Microsoft utility that will do the samething for Windows 7 (but not XP). I had more success to get Windows 7 to install from a USB I have with trying to get XP to install from a USB key. Although Windows 7 is not quite able to do all the things that XP can do, it's the wave of the future. XP won't ultimately be supported by Microsoft, and so we can get with the program and start using Windows 7.

Moreover, Toshiba has released a utility that works something like the fact of Microsoft Update, but the Toshiba updates for netbooks using Widnows 7 (again not for XP, Windows 7 only). It will you check netbook, and then download and install all the updates it has for your particular netbook.

Let us know what you did and how it worked.

  • A few questions about recovery on P100-400

    Good evening everyone,

I have a few questions on the recovery of my laptop...

So I thought that if the only way to clean my entire drive is to use the recovery DVDs?
I ask this question because I think the computer becomes too 'heavy' applications, with which he came. So I was wondering if I can format the hard drive rather than get it back.

If I format the drive I lose warranty? Is there any future problem with genuine software?
It is possible to install Windows XP Pro (and not the real windows xp media center) with the original operating system product key?

    Thank you.
    Best regards.

    Hello

I'll try to give you some answers and I hope this will help you.

    > I thought then, if the only way to clean my entire drive is to use the recovery DVDs?
    > I ask this question because I think the computer becomes too 'heavy' applications, with which he came. So I was > I was wondering if I can format the hard drive rather than get it back.

I don't understand what you mean I can format the hard use rather than retrieve it but you can follow: install OS using delivered support recovery and after having done this remove all applications, you do not need. After that it maybe your laptop won't be heavy more.

    > If I format the drive I lose warranty?
    N °

    > Are there any future problem with genuine software?
I don't know what you mean exactly

    > It is possible to install Windows XP Pro (and not the real windows xp media center) with the original operating system product key?

N ° something like this is not possible. Product key belongs to the livery and pre-installed with the OS.

  • Question about recovery CD

    Hello world

I have a Toshiba satellite M30 and it comes with 2 recovery CD (CD 1/2 & 2/2). Unfortunately, one of the CD is damage and no longer works. My question is, first of all, how can I get the new recovery CD. I hope you tell me exactly who to contact here on Toshiba site or please copy - paste the link to people who can help me.

Secondly, is it possible to have the recovery CD copied to a flash drive to avoid damaging the CDs are likely to suffer? Finally, it is necessary to use the same CD provided with there laptop or I can use the CD to other types of laptop Toshiba to my friends?

    Joe, UNITED KINGDO, COLCHESTER.

    Hello

    1. new media for recovery, you can order by the authorized service partner. The addresses you can find on Toshiba European page http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com under Support & downloads > find an authorized service provider.

    2. the recovery image is large enough and I don't think that you can save it to the flash drive. By the way: you can not start flash drive and because of that it's a bad idea. After the configuration of the entire computer, best solution is to create the own image using Norton ghost software. The image is created, you can record on CD, DVD, or even on the second partition (I do). On this way you can always have it by you.

    3. you may not use another recovery CD. Each image is designed for the specific cell phone model. You can simply use the facilities Microsoft CD and install all the drivers and all the stuff only Toshiba subsequently.

    Good bye

  • Question on recovery for Satellite A300-15 b DVD

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A300-15 b, bought almost 2 months of age. I created a DVD using Toshiba Recovery DVD Creator, as mentioned in the manual recovery. The question is, I created this months DVD 2 when buying and I used Notepad for this period. My recovery disk would be identical to a recovery disk created just after the purchase?

Content of my recovery disk doesn't include any setup I see makes me think I could you created a wrong. Can I use this disc to re - install Vista assuming that I am currently using Windows XP?

And how many recovery disks are required for this model of Toshiba? I have only one.

Thank you for your time and your consideration.

    Kind regards..

    > My recovery disk would be identical to a recovery disk created just after the purchase?
The recovery image is always the same. When you use the laptop will have always the same configuration, the same that you got after it for the first time.

    > Content from my recovery disc doesn't include any setup I see makes me think I could you created a fake. Can I use this disc to re - install Vista assuming that I am currently using Windows XP?
Because the installation cannot be started under the BONE, or in a sort of DOS mode, there is no setup.exe. Just put the recovery in the optical disc drive disk, start your portable computer, press F12, choose the CD/DVD drive, press ENTER and follow the menu on the screen. You can now use what you want. After the use of DVDs, you'll plant more recovery settings, even you got after it for the first time.

    > The recovery discs how are needed for this model of Toshiba?
This issue is understandable to me. It usually depends on media that you use to create a recovery media. Simply follow the instructions for Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator. It may be that you need two DVD-R virgins.

  • Question about Recovery Media Creator

Hello everyone, first of all, I don't know if this should be in this category, but I thought it would be best to post in.

My question is about the progress of the Recovery Media Creator. I was about to create the recovery DVD and I noticed that there are several support options for recovery (Recovery Media recovery media 3 1).

My question is, what are the differences between them? No matter if I only check one of them, so I need less DVD or smaller USB?

    Thanks in advance.

PS Excuse my grammar or bad explanation if there is no error.

    Hello

As much as I know there is no difference between the to 3 1 recovery media recovery media.
This info shows you ONLY the quantity of disks required.
If you create a recovery using a DVD media, you might have more than one DVD disc.
In case you create USB recovery media, you won't have many different memory USB flash keys.

  • Question about recovery disks

Hello everyone, Im a person retired and new to computers and the forums. My question is, when, where and why the recovery discs are used? My L series has 2 of them. Thanks for any help.

    Hello

Badhat wrote the very good display, but here's my little additional explanation:

Each computer will be used with operating system. Operating system is just part of the system that works well. Preinstalled OS must have good communication with all available hardware components. For this reason, for each material single component must be installed right driver. OS with the drivers can work well, but this isn't the end of the story. Toshiba offers many additional functions for keys, power control and so on. For this Toshiba application offer and install the additional tools and utilities.

As you can see the preparation of BONE can be quite complicated for people without good knowledge of PC. To avoid this Toshiba prepare all this. People who work in the service of software install OS on certain model of laptop, install the necessary drivers al, tools, utility and software additional (anti-virus software) and create the image of the recovery of it. Recovery image is a kind of fingerprint of the stuff all pre-installed so when you use image recovery everything installs correctly and when installation is complete, you will be able to use the laptop immediately without spending your time to configure anything. This condition is also called if the factory settings.

In the past, that Toshiba has delivered equipped laptops of recovery disc in the box of you, but in recent years the recovery image is saved on the HARD disk and each owner of the laptop must / should create recovery disks only. It can be done using an application preinstalled called creator of recovery disk Toshiba.

Take care of your disks. You can use hem many times and without limits every time when something is a crew up and you want to have own OS preinstalled and use the laptop with the factory settings.

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

  • Question of recovery procedure

A few months ago my daughter did a "system recovery" partition "D" on his DV5000 (XP).

I have never done this, and I don't know what options could have been offered during the process, but when it was done some files she had previously created/saved (and would not) on drive "C" were STILL THERE.

In any case, now the thing is infected with spyware "BlueFlare Antivirus" and I want to do a FULL system recovery, so my question is this:

Can, or should I, run a "C format" to wipe the drive clean before proceeding with the recovery from D? Or is this even possible?

I also create a set of recovery disks that I write this - something she never did. Wouldn't better (or necessary) to use them, instead of the "D" Partition to create a new re - install?

Please advise on the best procedure to collect completely this laptop to its factory condition.

    Thank you

    Dennis

    ----------

Your daughter could have done a 'system restore', which would restore the computer to a State of an earlier point in time but would not remove all data or all programs installed before that date.

If you follow the instructions in this document - Recover Windows XP - you should be able to do a full format and recovery from the recovery partition or the discs that you create.

Looks like you have connected only to the catalog database.

do not forget to target = database to restore

    so you should

    (1) set ORACLE_SID = db restore
    (2) rman
    target connection.
    Connect catalog...
