The reactivation of windows after a reset of the hard drive?

Hi all!

So a year ago I bought a new desktop computer and also bought Windows 8 for it at the same time, which they installed at the factory.  For a whole year, everything worked perfectly, until last month, 26, when my computer started throwing errors and the inability to start.  In a panic, I used the option "Reset" Windows 8 gave me and lost all my files.*

This seems to solve the problem; However since then Windows 8 has constantly harassed activate me it... which I already did a year ago.  When I hit "Activate" he briefly said "Control key" - so didn't do anything.

I am suspect that because of the erasure of the hard disk, Windows thinks that it is installed on another PC, and not the same one, even if it is indeed the same machine without modification.

In any case, I'm completely unsure what to do at this point - I just want to re-enabled so that the screen will stop harassing me.  I have a sticker on the side of my PC that my product key, but there has been no place in fact tap into it, if that's even what to do.  As I said, I think that Windows still considers that this copy is on another PC.

A little on edge of resources here, any help is welcome!

* It's OK, he warned me and I accepted them as a loss.

1. press the Windows key + X , and then clickrun, and then type: slui.exe 4

2. then press the ENTER"" key.

    Hello

already tried the recovery process more then once? If so, the error appears at the place of installation? You said that you have installed a new hard drive but actually you have formatted the hard drive before you perform a full restore? That would be really helpful, sometimes recovery is suspended because the disk formatted or partitioned before luckily.

You should really try. One way would be to use the "UBCD4Win' which is a Windows Live CD with really good tools. Format your hard drive with this CD and retry the recovery. Maybe it works...

I was using an old computer and now I have a new and I want to give the former to my nephew, but I want to wipe the hard drive completely clean, in order to get rid of personal information. I don't have the CD of Windows XP OS came with the computer. After the failure of the hard drive, how can I recover 2007 Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3? The computer that I'm talking about is 9 years old and is a Toshiba Satellite 1415-S173.

    Hi Bobby Collas,.

You must have a copy of the installation CD without which you can not re - install the OS again.

If it were an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) installation, you can restore the factory settings. Contact the manufacturer to do the same.

The message that I got while trying to update: "Windows Update cannot currently check updates,

    Another interesting fact:
After the reconstruction the new disk, user account control does not recognize Windows programs.
for example: execution of Perfmon.exe, the Publisher is unknown! However, when I download the program Windows FixIt, Publisher is recognized as Microsoft Windows. It seems that user account control does not recognize the Windows programs that had found the new HD, but acknowledges those who is downloaded from the internet.
I guess there is a problem with the license, Windows was preinstalled on the Toshiba and replace the hard drive could have caused a few conflicts of licensing.

The same problem. Cloned old HD on a larger hard drive. Everything worked perfectly except NO indexing and update WITHOUT windows - the two recurring problems that seem to appear on the forums after a change of hard disk.

INDEXING resolved with change to "Intel rapid storage technology." Google what I put in quotes, choose the Download Center and get the specific to your OP and the controller software.

UPDATES have been a little more frustrating. The microsoft .fixes and convenience stores were without help.

Go to control panel / system and Maintenance / administration tools

    Select Services

Stop the Background Intelligent Transfer Service

    Stop Windows Update

In 'My Computer' go to Windows / Software Distribution

Right-click "DataStore" folder. Rename it to Datastore.old

    Rename the folder 'Download' Download.old

Return to Services and restart the Background Intelligent Transfer Service and Windows Update.

Look for the updates. It will take some time because you deleted the database.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi Rob,

You must install first Windows XP and upgrade to Windows Vista.

If you have a genuine copy of Windows XP, after you install Windows XP you can contact support for Microsoft's Activation to activate the copy of Windows XP.

Run the hard drive HD diagnosis extended CD scan manufacturer to know with certainty the State of the reader.  If your brand has no bootable diagnostics in the link, use Seagate Seatools burned onto CD or SeaTools for a USB key .  Follow this with a full check disk command from the installation media kicked prompt know with absolute certainty the State of the reader.  If he repeated the errors after you run the two tests twice, I replace it or at least keep everything backed up in real time.

If by chance the drive past diagnosis then compares the steps you've done with the best possible Clean install Windows 10 in the link, you can do more if it varied too - especially if the partitions were not deleted during install.  If you do then I additonally run own Diskpart command command line of the punt media accessible to the first screen after startup by pressing SHIFT + F10 keys, or through the repair your computer on the second screen.

How can I reinstall windows 7 after replacing the hard drive? do I have to call microsoft or I can retrieve it somehow to the old hard drive?

Well, that certainly puts a different point of view on this subject.

There are data recovery services that can recover data from disks that have suffered from various types of failures. However, they are quite expensive. Unless the data is particularly useful, it is generally not useful.

If your Windows 7 is an OEM version, installed on the computer when you bought it, the manufacturer could have a recovery disk on sale. If it was a retail copy and you always have the appropriate product/serial number, you can get a DVD of their team of parts replacement.

  • Reinstall Windows 7 after adding RAM does not work, if the serial number on the hard drive doesn't go to Microsoft?

The serial number of the hard drive go to microsoft, I went to reintall my windows after it kept crashing, updated my hard drive, memory, ram.  I think because the serial number is different on the hard drive, it will not be installed.

System becomes inadmissible has nothing to do with the product activation.

The probable cause is faulty RAM or loose, make sure that the memory modules are firmly fixed and mounted in banks of memory on the motherboard.
