  I'm trying to retrieve/view old e-mail my Time Machine ups back. I am backup on an external hard drive.

  When I get TM since the Mail, search application 'in time' does not work. If I go TM said Finder, or from the desktop, it works fine.

  I had to reinstall my OS and am trying to update on El Capitan, (thanks to the kind assistance of AppleCare!), but in the meantime I am eager to find those old emails.

  Although you can restore a snapshot of Time Machine messages in the Mail application, it usually will not work with messages that were saved by an outdated version of the mail. In this case, you must use another method.

  Please triple - click anywhere in the line below on this page to select:

  ~/Library/Mail

  Right-click or Ctrl-click on the highlighted line and select

  Services ▹ Open

  Enter Time Machine and scroll to the snapshot that you want to restore from. The folder named "Mail" are subfolders named "V2" and/or "V3" (according to the version of Mac OS X that was used at the time that the snapshot was taken.) Inside of one of these subfolders are several subfolders representing your e-mail accounts. The name refers to the email addresses that you use. Select the account folders you want and then select restore... to... in the action menu (gear icon) in the toolbar of the Snapshot window.   If I go to roll back the player, add remove programs say it has been restored, but the media runtime in Add Remove programs won't disappear because it says that windows media player 11 is always there.

  To fix it, simply remove your old library files. Then have Windows Media Player find your new files. It will not destroy your music files.

  How to get WMP to re - index your music:

  1. close Microsoft Media Player.
  2. click on Start and then run
  3. in the box, type the following:
  [list] %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player

  4. click on OK and a folder containing your library files will be displayed
  5. delete all files ending with .wmdb
  6. open Microsoft Media Player
  7. press F3
  8. Select the addresses of your music files
  9 WMP will re-index your music.

• LR 6 - the search for virtual Copies will not work

  I exported a few photos to a customer including some virtual copies where I converted to black and white.

  But when the customer sends the pictures, I have a text string which has the names of files and the virtual copy file name, IE. Flower-0001-2

  However I insert this string into the search field, but the virtual copies do not appear.

  I could export the virtual copies and add them back in the catalog, but is there another way to get the search to pick up these filenames on the first shot?

  Yes it works for me now except if there is an easier way. Thought I'd share how I did it.

  (1) I export, add to the catalogue and in another file and download all the photos on my wordpress site.

  (2) customer selects the Favorites and I get an email that contains a text string (this text string includes all the masters and vc file names)

  (3), I then take this text string copy and paste into the search field on this new folder, I created on export.

  (4) all customer photos they have selected appear. Fact.

  I just upgraded to 23 FF, and it or some other setting changed my default Yahoo search engine. I want to go back to Google, which I think is the default value.   Hello kirkpete, please try this: go to firefox > help > troubleshooting information > profile folder - "view folder", then a new window will open. in this search on a file named user.js window (it can be used to overwrite your custom settings). where it is present, delete or rename this file and then restart firefox.

  To change these 3 names of folders and reinstall my programs worked fine without error:

  Adobe PCD-> Adobe PCDold

  backup-> backupold

  Caps-> capsold

  Now, the programs are on the actual status with all the updates that are included and everythings looks fine.
