The SSD drives on local ESXi hosts dilemma...

My company went ahead and installed the SSD drives locally in each HP Server, so this basically means I can't my hosts in cluster and enjoy the HA\DRS... in my view, correct environment vMotion?  I found a few links referring to this scenario, but it was not clear if the failover will work if one of my hosts breaks down?

I use them and set the swap file to be stored on the local host.  This save space you on your back-end SAN and reduced some IO.

If using local storage is important for your VDI sale, I would take a peek at Nutanix, which is a host ESX SAN in a (basically they use local storage and make it work like a San that rocks.)

I would hold these SSD at the moment, I do not know how CBRC will apply once VMware he applies fully.  If it works anything like Citrix Intellicache, then you could end by using these SSD as the volumes of local cache.  For now though I would not try and design their use.

  • Tecra S4 does not detect the SSD drive

    Hello together,

I try to install a Samsung SSD 840 Pro to install in my Tecra S4. But when I try to install Windows 7, there is no detected SSD.

What can I do that Windows detects the SSD drive?

    With greetings
    Golfbaer

    Hello

You must add the SATA/RAID driver.
    Download from here:
    http://Support1.toshiba-tro.de/Tedd-files2/0/RAID-drv-20070719134547.zip

Now, go to the BIOS and on the 3rd page of the BIOS, you can change the RAID settings to * 1RAID-0. *.
Eventually, you will need to enter the password 1234 + and then press on + ENTER +.
Now boot from the Windows 7 installation disc.
    Select "Custom Installation.
Connect the USB where the RAID driver files

Regarding the selection of the target (SSD drive isn't visible yet) disk, select "Load Driver" and navigate to the USB key, where is the folder with the drivers. Setup for Win 7 now allows you to select a memory stick USB attached.

Confirm and after that we should include a list of available devices (SOLID-STATE drive)

  • Satellite R630 - 11L - sometimes did not recognize the SSD drive

    Hi all

I have a portable Satellite R630 - 11L and I just bought a Corsair F120 SSD for her, but my laptop a few times did not recognize the SSD drive and fails to start occurs. I searched on the Internet concerning the issue, but there are any topic related to my problem. in recent days, I have updated my bios but the problem remains. for example if I put the computer to sleep and he never wake ups as it should be. the blue windows screen 7 failure comes and an error message 'could not access the windows volume. If portable succesful started without problem occurs until I reeboot the computer. so most of the time I have to restart computer about 5 - 6 times to work normal. At the same time, I opened a topic on the corsair website. They told me to test my drive on another computer, so I test it on laptops, dell and hp to my friends, but there is no any problem don't like this.

So I test my ssd on an another toshiba laptop R630 which has a different hardware configurations, the problem remains that laptop too...

So I think toshiba may provide a bios update to fix this problem. This laptop really great, so I don't want to buy another.

y at - it advice to solve this problem?

    concerning

    Hi machka,.

    > I think that here is the toshiba support forum. is not here?
Here he s a Toshiba forum, that of right, but you can only chat with normal users like you and me. You will not find someone from Toshiba here.
The forum is provided Toshiba but for Toshiba users to exchange experience on different products.

So I think that the Quad is just. No one can say that every SSD is compatible with all computers. You need to understand this!
There are hundreds of different players and computers on the market and I m sure that no one can test a new computer with all SSD on the market. This is not possible, because it takes a lot of time and more expensive laptops that I think.

So if the SSD doesn't work, there is nothing that you can wait for the BIOS update.
Otherwise, you must purchase another SSD. Alternatively, you can ask a service provider allowed in your country, maybe that technicians have already experience with some SSD in Satellite R630. Just ask for that, they are the first contact for you! :)

  • Portege R830 - 111 BIOS can not find the SSD drive

    Hello
Four days ago, I bought R830-111 [PT320E-00X00XPL] and a - DATA S599 2.5 "SATA II Solid State Drive 128 GB to replace the standard HARD disk drive. Unfortunately, the new SSD drive does not work with this laptop.

Several times, after several reboots disc was visible in the BIOS.
But there is not the possibility of a normal use of the SSD.
I have day laptop BIOS [BIOS360_EC140_WIN] and SSD drive. That did not help.

Can someone help and tell me how to work this SSD ADATA and Portege?

    Best regards

Have you checked if the SSD drive needs a firmware update?
In some cases, this is necessary, but in the worst cases, the SSD drive might not be compatible and this means that you need to test another :(

    Nice day.

He was never a way I know of to download games Windows OEM Lenovo recovery disks. That the process is managed by Service, you'll need to contact them directly (see info below). If I understand correctly, they will confirm your OS by checking the serial number of your machine.

  • not enough options for the SSD drives?

I intend to buy a desktop XPS 8700 special edition. I am disappointed that it doesn't give options for this model - for hard drives, only "2 TB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive 6.0 Gb/s + 256 GB SSD"-which is obviously a good combination, but for me, I think that a smaller SSD drive would be nice. "" Otherwise, I like the rest of the system. A friend who built his own PC says it has installed an SSD of 128 G and it is sufficiently large with Win8, MS Office, Photoshop and other large programs installed.

So it of just a comment, is not a problem, but I hope that Dell would offer more options, including a drive to 3 or 4. A Dell technician suggested going to road work stations - but when I looked there, I was a little confused on the readers - workstations all seem to have several readers, probably for Raid configurations, which is something over my head and on my needs.

Or is it a good idea to have a lot of free space on the SSD drive?

    Hi Hellogoodby,

Thanks for your comments. It isn't that much of a difference in cost between the 128 GB and 256 GB SSD. Dell is probably buying in bulk from the right and customer demand now, most people want 256 GB or more. You are absolutely right that 128 GB is plenty for the OS and applications. I have a 250 GB Samsung Evo and have used less than 50 GB for the operating system, office and all my other apps.

  • What is the interval of time between the virtual machine Linux and ESXi host synchronization?

I have ESX5.0 with a centos6 installed on this linux virtual machine.

After the installation of vmware for Linux virtual machine tools, I activated the time synchronization between the virtual machine linux and ESXi host through vmware-toolbox-cmd.

I wonder what is the interval of time between the virtual machine linux and ESXi host synchronization? If I quickly time OS system, when the OS system time will sync back to the ESXi host?

    According to http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/techpaper/Timekeeping-In-VirtualMachines.pdf:

By default, the demon checks the guest only once per minute operating system clock.

However, depending on whether the guest is behind or in front of the result is different. So, please read the section "periodic synchronization" (at least) in the document mentioned above.

  • Qosmio X 500-122 - how to replace the SSD drive?

    Hello

My 64 GB is really small, because I have a lot of software to run on it.

    Could you tell me:
-What SSD drive adapts to this computer?
    -How do I change it?

I tried to get help from the Toshiba support but you don't even have an answer.

Thank you in advance for your help.

    FF

    Hey Buddy,

All disks are placed on the underside. This means that SSD and HDD can be exchanged if return you the laptop and remove the cover from the SSD/HDD which is fixed by two screws. If you remove these screws, you can exchange the SSD.

All SSD 2.5 are compatible. The laptop supports the SATA interface so there is no capacity limit and you can buy each SSD. Also there is no certain brand you have to buy because everything will work.
As far as I know OCZ and G.Skill make good SSD.  :)

If the laptop supports solid state drive (or even hybrid), I couldn't find in the user manual that the SSD is supported.  If this is not the case, he will support a hybrid?

With 10 windows can update requiring 20 GB of space for the 64-bit version, I need to free as much space as possible on the ssd - I move the oem folder in the d: drive, at least temporarily?

Any other clues about how to free space - all the documents/picuture on D: already move and have disabled the hibernation.

  • Install Windows 8 on the SSD drive?

Bought a T7910 precision renovated with two 4 TB hard disks and a 512 GB SSD. For some reason, the computer has been configured with the operating system on one of the hard drives. I want to install my OS and apps on the SSD, but the installation CD Windows 8.1 won't let me. It says I need something or other instead of the MBR something or other who has detected an EFI.

So, what is needed to do a clean install of the operating system Windows 8.1 on my SSD?

ONLY if you install 8.1 Windows 64-bit:

Remove the HARD drive. Starting installation of F2 and verify the boot mode - is UEFI or legacy? When you have installed, there were all the existing partitions? If so, remove them.

It would also be useful to know the EXACT messages you get.

  • Change the path information for ESX ESXi hosts to access

Hello all! I hope you guys can help me.

I have about 47 hosts that I need to change it Round Robin storage path information. If I make the change in vCenter and restart the host it again changing fixed. So, I thought that I should change it to the level of the host through esxicli.

I have about twice as many LUNS of the Hitachi SAN. I'd like to see if it is possible to make the change in all areas, in some way, or I need to make the change by host? Also, is there anything that I need to change sides San so that it works or not.

I saw this VMware KB: modification of path information for ESX/ESXi hosts to access and assume that it is the best plan? But did not know of all put into custody, if necessary, that everyone ran to when doing this?

You will need to make the change by the host and the KB you'll find is the right method.

  • Director of the laboratory - cannot export to ESXi host (SMBMount unsupported)

    Hi all

I had this problem since the liberation.  This is my environment:

Director of the laboratory of 4.0.1

    vCenter 4.0 Update 1

    ESXi (3 guests) 4.0 Update 1

Shared storage: EMC SAN with NAS volume on gigabit ethernet.

I opted to use on ESX ESXi VMWare's future, as far as development.

My problem is this: when I click to export a configuration of Lab Manager, it fails with "Error in export."  The details of the message are:

    * Error export the Configuration.

vCenter Lab Manager cannot find that any suitable host connected to the "NFS Datastore" data store for this operation.

Host 'ESXi1' is an ESXi host and does not support smbmount.*

I installed ESXi being under the impression he was supposed to have all the same functionality as ESX.  Now, I have myself screwed... my users will sometimes have to export configurations to test booting the VMS of USB dongles (as there is no USB transfer directly to a virtual computer that it's time to start).  If at least 3 times a week I have to export virtual machines, one by one, to a network share, which is quite tedious and quite annoying.

Is on the timeline of development?  I noticed that the 4.0.2 has been released, but by its requirements (http://www.vmware.com/support/labmanager40/doc/releasenotes_labmanager402.html#newfeatures) it does not support ESXi 4.x, which is strange because the requirements for Lab Manager 4.0.1 (http://www.vmware.com/support/labmanager40/doc/releasenotes_labmanager40.html) list ESXi 4.0 as a host in charge.

Can someone please shed some light on this issue and maybe get it on the development plan for the next version of Lab Manager?

    Thank you!

    -Jesse Reinhart

    stemplar,

We don't do generally no update notes version after a product has been released.

In addition, it is not specific to Lab Manager, ESXi does not support required... orders so Lab Manager is just stating the restriction of resource pools provided.  As far as I remember, ESXi did not support smbmount (or mount-t smbfs) since its inception.

  • HP envy with recovery disc 1 TB hybrid case uses all the SSD drive

Hello, I recently bought a desire with a hybrid drive of 1 TB. After update to 8.1 yesterday I looked around and noticed that the D: partition is filled with file recovery.

First question; This partition D: is in fact part of the SS of the hybrid?

Second; If this is the case, it seems a waste of space use, is it possible to move the folders from recovery to a new partition on the hard drive?

    Thank you

    CAL

When you request support, please provide the number full name or product model of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq made thousands of computer models. Without this information, it can be difficult, even impossible to help you solve your problem.

The information requested above are at the bottom of the computer, or inside the battery compartment. Please, do not include the serial number. Please enter the product/model information in the HP Online Support page for consumers , and/or post it here for our review.

A disk hard 'hybrid' will not display as two discs, because it is a difficult standard with a "cache" of solid or similar... built on a common frame and using the same interface of the singular.

    1) belongs to the D: partition actually SS the hybrid drive? NO, it's the part of the portion of standard hard drive of the order.

    (2) if it is, it seems a waste of space use, is it possible to move the folders from recovery to a new partition on the hard drive? NO, the recovery partition is already on the portion of standard hard drive of the order.
