  I stupidly deleted my file of all programs on the start menu (by chance).
  He emptied the folder programs on the start menu through Explorer windows as well.

  I still have access to all of my programs seeking for them or through the program files. How can I rebuild my Start menu to the original WITHOUT reinstalling windows or something like that.

  Unfortunately, I can't do a restore because it is configured to do a clean up of all old restore points, and he did it about 5 minutes before the problem occurred.

  I would like to know how I can prevent a program from appearing in the list of most recently used programs on the start menu in Windows 7 (Pro).

  For example, "notebook" is in this list, but I've only start it by double-clicking on text files, never through the start menu. In this way, 4 of the 10 last menu entries are shortened I will never use and that take away space for other, more valuable shortcuts.

  I know that I can delete items manually by using the right-click menu ("remove from list"), but I really prefer a way to do this is permanent.

  Any ideas?

  I don't think there is a way to accomplish what you describe. There is no way to set this component to "ignore" specific programmes.

  I'm going from XP to 7. In the start menu > all programs listing all downloaded programs is listed. Under XP I could go to "documents and settings", create folders and put the files listed in all programs into separate folders. It resulted in very few files containing the downloaded files. For example, I got the files listed as 'Business', 'Security', 'Internet' etc. How to do this in 7 so that my ALL PROGRAMS list is first files and downloaded programs.   There are two places where the start menu programs .

  For a particular user where where programs installed to be used by this user look in:

  C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

  For all users look in:

  C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start start\program

  NOTE: AppData and ProgramData are hidden files.

  Step 1: I suggest to start the computer in safe mode and check if the problem persists.

  a. click on the Start button in the run search box type and press on enter.

  b. Paste the following text %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu and press ENTER.

  c. now, you must copy the shortcut to this location and paste here.

  Restart the computer and check for the issue.

Here is my problem for the last 3 months, I got a problem with the installation of programs on my newest PC is Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2. After Installation the problem is that when I go to start and all programs folder menus and switch to this folder the last installed Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, the program shows as empty folder. I can't run anything in the menu start all programs. Other small programs that I installed, I was able to start the program to find the exe to start and worked with it by starting the program example start.exe start. When I start sqlservr.exe manually from C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL server\MSSQL10_50.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\Binn it comes up with a black screen and a small window which I don't know that I do not get the appropriate permissions on the files it needs to run. C: Program Files and c: data files have corrupted permissions or other files are corrupt is there a way to reset these permissions back to their original condition or what else is happening here? Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated thank you in advance.   Follow these methods in the order and see if the problem is resolved.

  Method 1: Follow the steps and check out them.

  a. open an Admin command prompt window. To open an administrator (high) prompt, click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right click Guest and then click Run as administrator.

  b. in the command prompt window, type the following command and press ENTER:

  regsvr32 msxml3.dll

  c. closing session and you connect again to your user account and see if the menu items are displaying correctly.
