the tabs are empty, 42, Win10 firefox

Hi all, I am running FF 42 on Win10. See attached picture. As you can see my tabs FF have the Web site icon but no text. How can this be repaired?

Yesterday, I installed successfully the big Win10 1511 update update version. Could be the cause of the problem? Does anyone else have this problem? Thank you

OK, I discovered that the problem happens when I run Firefox in Sandboxie. I always use Sandboxie. I posted the problem on the Sandboxie forum.

Anyone else here have this problem? Thank you

  • 35.0.1 updated and now my tabs are empty and I can't customize toolbars. Help, please and thank you.

After the update, at the launch of Firefox, I can see the tabs, but the tabs are empty. I tried to remove preferences, uninstalling and do a fresh install and get the same result. I even tried to install the nightly build to see if it was a problem with 35 - problem was still there. I can also access the function 'customize' for the toolbars. I have several add ons, so one of them could be the problem?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, an add-on could cause that.

  • The tabs are on the top, how to place under the bookmarks bar?

Just set Mozilla to update to the beta 29,0. My browser has been configured as follows:

    File, editing, display etc. are first;
then there's "home" button and the address bar.
    then bookmarks bar;
    and finally the tabs.

Now the tabs are at the top of the address bar and I can't move it to the bottom. I tried to get: config with browser.tabs.on Top but it does simply not at all.

I use the default skin for Firefox and I have no visual Add ons.

Running every night and Aurora versions have an interface Australis which seems different from the user interface in current versions of Firefox.

You can install the extension Classic theme restaurateur to restore some lost features, including the tabs on top.

  • The tabs are open not together

I recently got a new Windows 7 laptop and decided to use Firefox Sync to move everything related Firefox above. I think that all this, and I'll go through later do not forget to add my Greasemonkey scripts and elegant. Everything was going well... until I started to open new tabs. Each tab open in a new tab to the other end. The tabs are not stuck together. I checked my settings and everything seems in order. I can't understand what is wrong.

You can change a preference to open tabs

    1. at the end of all tabs open
    2. immediately after the active tab.

NOTE: There is also an option in Tab Mix Plus (which is listed in your Extensions) in the TabMixPlus Options events > new tabs. See TabMixPlus settings-> http://tmp.garyr.net/help/ (scroll down to the settings section)

  • How to stop the tab 'Getting started with Mozilla Firefox' to open every time I open FF?

Everytime I open FF, the tab "Getting started with Mozilla Firefox" opens. I checked and it is not in my list of homepage.

If I open any additional windows, it does not open.

But, once I close all the and reopen it again, the tab opens.

I had a similar problem with some addons (ietab) do the same thing.

I found the fix for it.

About: config, filter for 'Start '

Ones you want to should appear at the bottom.

    Startup.homepage_override_url and startup.homepage_welcome_url

Double-click on each one and delete the text string. Close and reopen the window to check that it worked.

As I deleted them both at the same time, I'm not sure who was the culprit. So, I suggest starting by striking first and tests before deleting this one.

Did you remove all traces of high level in the layers (i.e. "layer-1") Panel?

When something like you describe is reported, most often the user does not understand the layers of high level exist across all pages and updates on the page of your site. If you delete "Layer 1" you may remove the content of all pages of your site.

  • Why most of the tabs open empty with the label "New tab" and "topic: vacuum ' in the address line to the restart of Firefox since installing Firefox 28?"

I have a system dual-bootable Windows Vista SP2 and Firefox updated to 28 on both systems. Since the update of the tabs more reopen empty with the label "New tab" and "topic: vacuum" in the address line of Firefox is restarted. The tabs that open correctly seem to be those who in fact, I was at the session of prefious. I can recover the missing tabs using the Session Manager to pick up a previous session, but of course it does not pick up the tabs open in future sessions. It seems that the tabs that I go to the session recovered are saved correctly, as indicated above, but which are not revisited in the context of the use of the session retrieved will drop the URL next time that I open Firefox it again.

I don't have the time to do it. However, 29 is just around the corner and we will put in the channel of exit 29, then hope that the issue is not you.

P.S. I had originally chosen your last answer as the solution that you have migrated more to 29 but it seems that you have taken off. I'll be marking your last answer as the solution so that we can get out of the queue.

  • When the tabs are right of the Firefox button, how you lesson their height must match that of the button?

When Firefox is maximized, the empty space below the Firefox button is almost 1/3 height.

About: config, I see entries to specify what the minimum and maximum width as "browser.tabs.tabMinWidth", but none for its height.

The height of the tab is based on the built-in style rules. You can override the built-in style rules by adding new style rules in a file named userChrome.css or using the stylish accessory. (The advantage of using the Stylish extension, is that you don't need to restart Firefox to see the rules being applied, so you can experiment more quickly.) The tab that contains the text, icons and possibly a close button, it may take several rules to get the size of the way you like it. I saw a recipe in my quick search, but I'm sure you can find some good suggestions if you dig around.

  • All tabs are empty after session restore

After clicking on a link to a page that has opened in a new tab, all the tabs in the window of my browser no longer works correctly (i.e. I could not close them, make new tabs or go to the previous page), and the restoration of my session turned into 'new tab' with no way to access their previous content (the number of tabs is the same). See attached image for reference, the Firefox tab is only after session restore. The browser think that he restored the session correctly, as her 'restore previous session' option is greyed out.
Restoration of a backup version of my profile to one of two days folder there are just restores the history recorded, including, 'recently closed tabs' list had not returned to the backup version and shows the tabs that I closed earlier today. These tabs are functioning normally.

You can save session files in the sessionstore-backups folder in the Firefox profile folder to keep possible significant session data.

previous.js (cleanBackup: copy of sessionstore.js from previous session that was loaded successfully)
recovery.js (latest version of the sessionstore written during runtime)
recovery.bak (previous version of the sessionstore written during runtime)
upgrade.js-<build_id> (backup created during an upgrade of Firefox)

You can copy a file in the sessionstore-backup folder to the main profile and rename sessionstore.js file to replace the current file (make a backup of the current sessionstore.js).

The sessionstore.js file is created from recovery.js when you close Firefox and are removed and copied in previous.js when you start Firefox.

the icons in tabs that are related to different Web sites go funky (fluctuate randomly). It does'nt seem to matter how much is open.
It's hard to describe, but it seems that the icon multiplies itself and block the verbage in the tab. It seems back to normal if clicking on a different tab.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

    • Tools > Options > advanced > General > Browsing: "use hardware acceleration when available.

You will need to close and restart Firefox after enabling/disabling this setting.

You can check if there is an update for your display driver graphic card and search for hardware acceleration of related issues.

  • v.31: NoScript, initial home page are displayed correctly, but the tabs are not displayed correctly

I'm under FF with NoScript, never "do not forget history," "Tell sites I don't want to be followed," not selected "Remember passwords for sites" and no Flash. My search engine is Duckduckgo. I use FF for private surfing. If I want to watch the video, I use IE11.

V.30 with before, I could never see how to configure FF to view my homepage of duckduckgo.com , when I created a new tab. But this is only a minor annoyance because I just click on the Home button.

Now with v.31, when I create a new tab I see nine rectangles where my story would be represented, if I had not turned off. At the top is a search box with Duckduckgo. However, when I try to use the search box, I see a message 'this page requires JavaScript. Download no - JS here. »

What is the point of allowing my Duckduckgo home page to display properly when FF is displayed first, but the following tabs require is at the bottom right of the screen and select NoScript "temporarily allow all this page" or by clicking on the Home button? From my point of view, this is not an improvement, just something different to look at.

I put my home page at https://duckduckgo.com/html/, in other words, the version that FF suggested, but nothing has changed.

I don't need JavaScript enabled for the new integrated tab page, but it might be because I disabled the search suggestions.

Here's how to set your new tab to DuckDuckGo page:

    (0) as the first step, copy the full URL in the address bar of the search page. This will stick you to step 3.

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste newtab and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.newtab.url and enter your favorite page:

    • (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
    • Blank tab = > subject: empty
    • Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
    • Any other page = > full URL of the page - paste here

Press Ctrl + t to open a new tab and check that it worked. Success?

What should I do to avoid this behaivour reset settings? Is - this deficit SQLLite?

The extension of the Session Manager has options (1) create a backup when you exit Firefox and (2) locate in a different folder. I have not tested, but could be useful for you.
