Then a Lenovo T500 manage SSD?

I read that SSDs are the best drives to get. What is the advantage?

Also, can I install a 480 GB SSD in a Lenovo T500? The specs say 320GB maximum, but I read here that any SATA Har drive will work.

Do I need to buy an adapter, or can I just stick it in the hard drive Bay, or should I get the adapater to the ultrabay?

I was reading this thread and I found it confusing: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/Thinkpad-T500-2243-upgradeable-to-a-SSD-SAT...

SSDS are simply much more fast. If it's a standard 2.5 "drive form factor, she will agree and will work. You would be reusing your existing caddy and rails. An SSD is theoretically more reliable, but my experience has been that normal disks break down slowly as an SSD just suddenly dies

  • How to disable Lenovo energy management

I have Vista Home Premium on my Y430. Once I disabled Lenovo Energy Management and used the Vista build-in power management. My impression was that the battery lasted longer when you use the build-in one than Lenovo Energy Management (4 hours from 3 hours in symmetric mode).

I activated there is Lenovo energy management. But now I don't remember how to turn it off. Does anyone know how to disable? Thank you very much.

I found a way to disable management of the energy of Lenovo using Windows Defender. Click 'Start'--> 'All programs', right click on "Windows Defender", select "run as Administrator". Click the 'tools' at the top of the window, and then click "Software Explorer". Click on 'Show for all users' in the lower left corner. In the "Category" list, select "startup programs". Select "Lenovo Battery Management Software VerX.X" on the left panel. At the bottom of the Panel, click the button 'Disable' (or 'Remove'). Lenovo Energy Management this will prevent to run the next time that you start your laptop.

To activate it, just follow the steps above and click 'Activate' to the last step. Or you can go to 'Control panel'--> 'Power Options'--> 'change plan settings'--> "Change power settings advanced"--> "Lenovo Energy Management" to enable it.

  • Lenovo PC Manager (China only)

Some of you may have noticed, two weeks to the sites of many models AIO support he was this new Lenovo PC Manager software. No further information was given and also the Readme file was unreadable. I was doing some research on the web - no result. Research of the whole site Lenovo - no result. Except for beeing listed in the drivers & Software downloads. The installer has only been chineese letters, but somehow, it seemed official and not like the site has been hacked. But now in the meantime this Lenovo PC Manager has been removed from the download pages, cause someone pressed the wrong button Lenovo to put it online outside of China, I guess.

But I was curious and took a risk. So I downloaded and installed the thing. Well, I was really surprised what a nice software, I came here. Installation went really perfectly and quickly. Then I got this beautiful and modern interface in front of me. But given all the Chineese letters, I could navigate with the symbols on the screen, so I gave it a try. It turned out to be the Chinese version of a combination of companion, the Lenovo's ID, the settings and the Solution Center all in one. It detected my PC (an AIO B40-30), the number of series, hardware & software configuration, support options, and so on. All sorted out with nice overviews and a whole bunch of options and parameters.

But the best thing is, that the program does not need without SystemInterfaceFoundation and DependencyPackage, which cause so many problems when you install or update settings and companion. And you don't have only one program and an interface with an overview of Nice to do all the work, instead of having 3 or 4 different programs Lenovo did the same thing. I was really impressed.

Then I discovered on the Microsoft partnership with Lenovo and Tencent for Windows 10 in China. Tencent offers security software and somehow seems to be linked to Lenovo. I mention this, because some of the components in the PC of Lenovo's Manager with the permission of Tencent. There is also a program out there called Tencent PC Manager. This program has a malware beeing really bad reputation such as published in a lot of YouTube videos. Strangely, some other serious sites say that is certainly not malware. So I couldn't find the truth in the end. But what I can say is that the Lenovo PC Manager is totally different from the Manager PC of Tencent, they even some program in common files.

If Lenovo, could we please have this big Manager of Lenovo's PC for the rest of the world out of China?

Anyone who has also installed and tried?

    Update

Got the following information from Lenovo:

Manager of Lenovo's PC is currently available in China. It is not scheduled for a release outside of China right now, but maybe in the future LPCM could possibly be available.

If someone has already installed - please do not use, there are legal restrictions/limitations for regions outside China.

So we will have to wait and see.

  • Lenovo Energy Management silent install

    Hello

I'm deploying Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro via sccm with drivers/software preloaded in the company. I am quite aware that this model is not ment for the company, but it is requirement.

For now the deployment looks good, except one software: Lenovo Energy Management 1.0.1.49.

    Link: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-2-pro-lenovo/download...
This software is installed correctly when I run the installer manually with double click, but refuses to work in silent mode or unattended. Public documents, unfortunately, is not available on the Lenovo drivers download pages.

I spent a lot of time looking for silent switch manually, but all without success. In the best scenario complete installation with the code output-3. I saw via procmon this real called 2 MSI (command lines are hidden) and perform additional configuration as installation drivers with dpinst, installation of the device through devcon, registration of dll and the calling application executables. For now, I just couldn't operate without initial installer.

I'm pretty sure that Lenovo factory this software is preinstalled on the PC with a sort of silent command. Is it possible that someone who closely works with OS preload Lenovo provides this command line silent for Lenovo Energy Management 1.0.1.49?

It may also be that another version is preinstalled when buildings of the factory, so yes, it would be nice to get that media.

    Thank you much in advance.

    Hello

Thanks for the response, but no need already.

I found another version of the management of the energy that was silent-installation capable and was incompatible with Yoga 2 Pro (no official compatibility in the documentation of the software however). This version has me led to the solution - he had Setup.iss file as well as initial setup.exe, which v.1.0.1.49 had no downloadable media.

So, to install v.1.0.1.49 of energy management that I had to run it with the r switch, get Setup.iss file in the %windir%\System32 folder and now it installs with Setup.exe /s/v/qn perfectly.

    Hope this helps someone.

  • Lenovo Power Management Driver for Windows 8

If you can visit the following url link:

you will get a page titled:

Lenovo Power Management driver for Windows 7 (32 bit, 64 bit), Vista (32 bit, 64 bit), XP (32-bit, 64-bit) - for laptop which contains the driver links and documentation of the 1.65.05.21 of the software version, but the current version is 1.66.0.22, released on December 29, 2012, through ThinkVantage Update Retriever and ThinkVantage System Update.

I used the option to return to the site, and last week I was informed by the team of Lenovo Web content that driver Lenovo Power Management for Windows 8 (32 bit, 64 bit), Windows 7 (32 bit, 64 bit), Vista (32 bit, 64 bit), XP - laptop version 1.66.0.22 has been released earlier to the update system and Retriever and it will be posted on the support site today. I was advised to visit the following url link:

This new document now shows a revised January 18, 2013 release date. Please note that it is a different URL from the previous version of the software. The two documents currently coexist.

If all goes well, it will be the subject of appropriate documentation and cross referenced on the Support site some time in the coming months.

The Lenovo Web content team has properly documented and cross referenced the two versions of the driver. Play well.

  • Backing up Lenovo Password Manager

    Hey everybody,

I just set up some tasks to back up my laptop daylie. Now I want to include my Lenovo Password Manager. I took a peek in the help, but I couldn't find anything other than export my data. I have automated my backups, so it would be a waste to have to manually export.

So my question is, if there is a file/profile that I can just back up? Otherwise, is there a way to do this via command line?

    So far, thanks to advice.

    Best regards.

    Solution - command line:

    "...\Lenovo\Password Manager\pwm_utility.exe" /e filepath = "somepath.pwm" password = "somepassword"

    Best regards.

  • Installation of the Lenovo power management

I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to install Lenovo Power Management that comes with the U400. I was on the phone with tech support and they advised me to uninstall this software to solve another problem I had. Does not, the problem still exists, but I lost out on the power management software. Is anyone know where / if I can find this software? I've looked everywhere for it.

    Thank you

Thanks for the reply Zehnstein, I thought. I had checked, but apparently not.

  • Lenovo Energy Management

I just bought 3 Y50-70 of lenovo laptops.

I got them all configured and I installed the managemnt energy on them as they will be connected more often than otherwise. He succeeded on 2 of them but 3 when I click on settings and then try to click Mode of Conservation on it does nothing, also once in the settings, I'm not able to click on any other menu or close the energy management.

I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it and no change. Any other suggestions to resolbe this problem?

    Thank you!

I think I found the solution. Besides the tests I found that it worked on my administrator account, but not on account of my daugter. Even if I ran as administrator on his account.

Then, I created a new profile of the child and discovered that it works on the new profile of child very well. It seems that it is a matter of profile and just delete the current profile and redo. If it works when everything is done I'll update this post.

I tried running driver audio windows 7 from lenovo, in a first time website, it did not work and gave one did not find a MEDIA device error, but putting all the files in a folder, he did run but there is no device in the selection box and it cost have no effect.

I tried to update all lenovo updates and installs all updates of windows with several charges. Everything I did I did as an administrator and no matter, I'm completely unable to get some kind of audio device installed.

Hi and welcome to the forum Jared!

Try to put the default BIOS settings.

Also, try to boot from a LiveCD of any popular linux distribution like Ubuntu, LInux etc. If you get also sound under linux, this is probably a hardware problem.

  • Sound of disk access crazy Lenovo T500

    Hi all

I am a lover of IBM Thinkpad and have used T-Series, since it was introduced fairly well. I used a T43 and end June upgraded to T500. It's my first Lenovo machine. The problem is, last three months (since I bought) I had continually this problem where the disk will brrrr. -break - brrrr... - break agree. Driving me crazy. This is me well enough torture. IM almost about to Lenovo for toturing sue me. I work more than 12 hours in front of my thinkpad and it continuously goes on all two seconds during the day, no matter the Im working on it or not, makes me crazy. Also, when this produces pretty much the whole machine freezes momentarily and do not respond.

I stopped readyboot, superfetch, readyboost, all types of logging, reinstalled the machine with Windows 7, reinstalled with Windows XP. Connected to a call and got support for a glance. They have reimagee my machine with VISTA Home Premium (which is what it came with). And still the same no difference. The assistance Center said they could not reproduce the problem. When the system runs only VISTA, (without other software installed) I couldn't see the problem either. And then when there are only BONES, what can we do with the system. This problem, I noticed starts after an hour or two of reset. Then I removed the paging space, put on external USB disk swap space, add 2 GB now, I have 4 GB of memory (either by the way, this is the 32-bit version of VISTA). I thought after you add memory, the problem will disappear. Not really, I still have the problem.

Now, I even disabled the cache drive as well and thought Im powerless to return the machine that I can't live with this more.

No matter what I did again the brrr... brrrrr... brrrr noise disc access remains the same. When I checked the performance center, I see that the paging space is available most of the time when comes the noise. But I have 4 GB of memory and (32-bit so it should have 3 GB of memory for the operating system) always the same. I checked and disabled indexing so no difference.

The disc I have is ST9160411AS. Like one of you can tell me if you have also experianced the same problem with the T400/T500 machines and or not at all what cures the problem.

For the benefit of users T400/500 having the same problem, I upgraded to 3 GB of RAM. And updated the thinkvantage system update drivers and the problem is now solved. Back to my favorite days and I love my T500. Oh one more thing. I know that this sounds like crazy and doesn't explain everything. I inserted a tap plastic/rubber Cup with my hard drive. On the face-up. That made the reader very quiet. I use now for over a month and no problem and no access to the disk and the system is quite and good performance.
