There is no preference in my user library

I'll try to find my default preference InDesign - I use CS2. They are supposed to be located in a folder of Version 4.0. Could it be because I have did not put any preferences?

Hello:

Yes, I'm in the library of the user. I think that the program successfully, because I am able to open it.

I think you're looking in the root folder not your home folder.   Tilde ~ in front of the first slash indicates the folder.

    Try this...

    Quit Safari.

Open a Finder window. In the Finder menu bar, click go > go to folder

Type or copy paste the following text:

    ~/Library/preferences/com. Apple.Safari.plist

Click OK, and then move the com.apple.Safari.plist file to the trash.

    Restart Safari to test.

  • LION: Mail backup in the library not user/library

Hello, fellow members of the Apple community. I'm in a little trouble and I hope you can help me.

I read articles such as Re: not able to locate the folder Mail and Mail Downloads on the Lion OS X disk

and I read all sorts of messages elsewhere on what and how to back up, but I have not found a definitive answer to my problem.

My external drive for Time Machine crapped out and is not repairable. I'm trying to back up to flash or CD before trying to reformat. I'm saving up for a new laptop and the drive (mine is 2008 and Lion is what she can do), but in the meantime I'd like to keep my data.

One piece that may be relevant to the news before going further: I was a user of cloud in the beginning and I have many goofy w/mail problems because I still have the ghosts of MobileMe. It's a mess, really, but I've been waiting until I go to a new system, because many trips to the local Apple stores did not resolve things, only complicated the more... Then...

I know that I should find the files I need to back up here:

Drive hard name/users/my name of user/library/mail

    and

    Name/users/my username/Library/preferences/com.Apple.mail.plist hard drive

    BUT

Nothing is in those places. The plists are 'previous systems' and appear to be error or similar message.

I found, and go back, which seems to be the files, but they are in hard disk name/library. This could possibly be good? How will I know?

And dare I I reformat the hard drive or should I bite the bullet and get a new drive now? I can't afford a w/USB-C, but I could spring for the G-Technology G-DRIVE. I really mobile, but I heard that it does not run hot. I really would assess a guarantee of 3 years and, with USB 3, I think it will be retro-compatible with my old system and be a good solution for a new (which, I hope, I can manage soon).

Thanks in advance for the help!

If the/Home/Library/Mail folder is located in the folder/Library /, then move it back where it belongs unless there is already a folder/Home/Library/Mail /. In this case I would be throwing unless you want to import messages from him before throwing.

  • Mail application cannot find the user/Library/Mail folder

    Hello

Recently my laptop crashed and I had to reinstall first OSX 10.5.8, so I've updated to 10.6.8 and now I have the latest version of El Capitan.

In the first two versions relocated I could normally restart Mail with my backup files restored (had to reinstall all the good e-mail accounts), but now I want to open the mail application in El Capitan and it won't open, saying that it does not find a user/Library/Mail folder. But it IS a Mail folder and there all the restored items and folders inside.

I also find the file com.apple.mail.plist in my preferences, I thought that maybe that was the problem, but it seems that it is not.

    Can anyone help please?

If the folder you want is "user/Library/Mail" then the folder in fact does not exist.  Try instead "~/Library/Mail.

  • Set preferences for all users

I have an OS X lab with VMware Fusion 5 Professional installed. I would like to have the same default preferences for each user that connects to the machine. I tried to copy the preference plists, but there seems to be no effect on other users. Has anyone found how to do this?

By default, VMware Fusion suspends a Virtual Machine that is not explicitly shutdown since in the guest operating system, i.e. When you close the VMware Fusion.app all in a Virtual Machine is running or by clicking the close button in the display of the Virtual Machine window.  This behavior can be changed in the General preferences of VMware Fusion and in doing so, it writes the following to the "${USER} / Users / / Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion/preferences ' file.

    pref.vmplayer.exit.vmAction = "poweroff"

Yes, VMware Fusion uses 'vmplayer' in this preference and the specific user file is not global.  And I do not know if this can be set on a global scale however a login script may ensure that adjustment existed when each user logs on.

The other option is to set the following in the configuration the target Virtual Machine's .vmx file.

    suspend.disabled = "TRUE"

  • Where is the location of iCloud data from the reader in my user library?

I use an application called Carbon Copy Cloner to clone my Macintosh HD on an external hard drive. I noticed that my iCloud drive is not on the backup to clone, and I want to make sure that these files are included in the clone. I'm guessing that iCloud drive data are stored somewhere in my user library. If so, can someone tell me the exact location in my user library? If this is not the case, how can I ensure that my iCloud drive files are included when I clone my Macintosh HD?

  • The lost user library folder

I am trying to rebuild my system on a second internal hard drive.  I often need items from my current user library but am not able to access while in the new system.  As a work around, I tried to copy the former library of the user towards a third hard drive.  But when I try to access it on the third hard drive it is still hidden.  The third hard drive has no system software other than the user library that I copied here.  Is it possible to access?

Open the folder that contains, choose go to folder from the Finder menu and provide the library as the path.

You don't want in this file.  Ads by Call Builder is malware that opens the ads on your computer.  If you encounter this error, then it is likely that you have an antivirus/antimalware program which was removed from your computer, but left the startup item.  More information on Call Builder, and how to remove can be found here.

To remove this item from your startup list, follow these steps:

    System (Windows 7) Configuration utility

    1. In the start search box, type MSCONFIG and press ENTER.
    2. Click the Startup tab.
    3. Uncheck the items you want to run at startup.
    4. When you have finished your selections, click OK.
    5. In the box that appears, click on restart to restart your computer.

My e-mail rules disappeared, following a disconnection and to my two Apple ID (long story not worth telling). I found an article describing how to resolve the problem, but I hit a snag.

Here's what I'm trying to do:

Re: how to retrieve the rules for mail lost on upgrade to Yosemite 10.6.8 in reply to donaldos

Enter your backup and go to a backup of Snow Leopard, the User/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.

Once I get to a backup from a few days ago in Time machine, I can't actually find the file MessageRules.plist. This is because the library in the users folder is hidden. I know how to see that one on my internal hard drive, but not elsewhere. Can someone please tell me how?

Open the Mail folder on the internal disk and enter the Time Machine menu.

  • I get an error message, "there is a problem starting C:Users\ (my name!) \Appdata\local\temp\uacavi,dll ".

    Hello

whenever I start my pc, I get this error message:

There is a problem starting C:Users\ (my name!) \Appdata\local\temp\uacavi,dll

I recently purchased RegCure Pro for fix my registry and its still not fixig the problem.

    Help, please

    Original title error message.

    Thank you

Well, you shouldn't have wasted your money on a registry cleaner - they are dangerous to use if you don't know what exactly is the cleaning of your registry - and if it is safe to remove the discovered or not registry keys.

    OK, so just fix it-

Press Windows key + R > type msconfig in the box run > Enter. In the System Configuration window, select the Startup tab.

Now, uncheck an entry > OK and restart. If the error message is gone, leave it as it is. If the error message still appears, open System Configuration > start again tab. Now check the entry you previously unchecked and uncheck another. You do this to know what entry causes the error.

Make work easier, you should not try unchecking and check all entries beginning with the following words in their names.

Microsoft, Adobe, Intel, (your company produces antivirus developer), Java, Synaptics and (the manufacturer of your computer - HP, Dell, Sony, MSI or anything else).

    Hello

Here is the updated Windows 7 answer,

Google has little information about this file other than to suggest malicious software, so it's probably a left over Malware boot entry that was removed from your security programs.

Download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware:

    http://www.Malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

If the problem persists after scanning, take these startup entries:

«How to use MSCONFIG in Windows 7»

You can also use this free program to do, too:

Do you mean the name of a Windows of a remote computer logon account? There is more than one because Windows 7 allows multiple concurrent interactive sessions. In any case, this could point you in the right direction:

    PsExec \\NameOfPC cmd.exe / user: YourUserName
    PsLoggedOn
The first command will not work unless you have an account admin on the remote machine.
