  • Keyboard ThinkPad E430 problem

    Hello

I have a Thinkpad E430 (type 3254). It is around the age of 14 months. Yesterday, he randomly started having a problem with his keyboard. It acts like the Enter key is pressed continuously, and about 1 sec after clicking another button, it stops. The key entry by itself stopped work shorts and only sometimes and translates a continuous press.

As soon as I start, enter has entrance and start normal is interrupted. If I press a key it is normal again until an operating system load. By example, if I start debian, line breaks get inserted between the console enter messages that are displayed until I have a press and if I boot windows, it gets stuck on the login screen that is given without the password, so a loop is executed. This problem also sometimes randomly while working normally.

The keyboard has not yet seen use intense or any other drink spills. Usually, I keep the laptop at my desk and use an external keyboard. The last time I took it was 2 weeks ago.

All the world is facing this issue before? I doubt, it may be a software problem, so I need a new keyboard?

    Thanks for the help.

ook so that nobody knows or don't bother. Anyway, I solved it and I'll leave it here.

I called lenovo helpline, and they told me to remove the power supply and the battery and then keep the power button pressed for 2 x 30 seconds. It seems that the drainage load static on the motherboard. It helped but only for a few minutes. Last night, I drained the battery at 5% and the question is now gone. I recharged to 100%, and the system is normal.

I don't know what caused it, but it might have something to do with the power manager Lenovo, which I recently installed.

  • ThinkPad E430 - unable to connect to a G router

    Hello

I bought a brand new ThinkPad E430 (i3, 4 GB RAM) with Windows 8 64-bit pre-installed. While the machine works fine (my only complaint is a short battery life - only 3 hours or so on "Balanced" plan that contains no serious task on), he doesn't want to connect to my router, Asus RT - G32 (Rev. B1) (only B/G modes are supported).

The router is 100% error free (I have several computers and phones on it and everything works fine), but my most recent computer does just not with it. It connects, but only "in part". Some Web sites to work, but after a while, they stop working, and Gmail Talk and Skype, for example, never connect at Wi - Fi access (on the cable, everything works perfectly).

I've tried about every router configuration (channels, wireless "54G" only mode, the value change WPA to WPA2 connection, etc.) and I played with Win 8 care arrangements (N disabled mode, only G active), but nothing seems to work for more than a few minutes.

Now, everything is by default back and I'm back on the cable.

Somene please indicate if there is something else to try? BTW, I connected the computer to the N router at my girlfriends place, and it works well. Only, he refuses to work on my G router.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Henrik

    Hi again,

Given that the computer works well on your girlfriend N router, the problem may reside in the technology of the router itself. The router you are using is running on a single 2.4 GHz frequency band, which was very common. So common, in fact, that there many things that can cause interference. Routers newer, such as a/b/g/n devices, use of 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz dual-band frequencies. The experience you had with the N Router makes me think that, to obtain maximum performance and the tip of your wireless experience, a router capability a/b/g/n dual band may be necessary.

    Hello

I have installed thinkvantage, think that COmmunication and another driver to take care of my wireless device.

but when im trying to put on the ITU continue to say "no supported wireless (802.11 cards. WAN or Bluetooth) are installed on this system. »

I use windows 7, someone please help me solve that.

    I thank in advance

    Hey Syl4s,

You try to run the system update and see if it can find your wireless driver update? I know that you said you looked at and downloaded the drivers for your wireless device. I think that you lack even one and a good way to check in the Device Manager. If you look under network you will see if the devices are missing drivers with what looks like a yellow triangle with a! in the middle.

If you want to try to download the drivers for WAN only here is a link:

  • ThinkPad E430 - only 3 hours of battery life?

    Hello

as I said in my thread "WiFi", I have a brand new Lenovo E430 (Intel Pentium i3, 500 GB of HDD, 14 "screen, 6 GB of RAM - is 4 GB, but I got a bed spare aroundn 2 GB 1066, so I used it).

Is advertisied everywhere, these laptops have life long batery - of 6 to 8 hours. However, when I unplug mine, it shows only left 3 hours (power management "Balanced" on Win 8 64 bit, lowestn the value of brightness and WiFi off).

I am now typing this message and download a 400 MB file, and it is already 91 per cent or 2 hours and 40 minutes.

I can accept that, but just someone could please check it's normal? If there are other users of E430 that I would appreciate if you could share your experience with me.

    Thank you!

According to the Personal Systems Reference, most models of 3254 E430 have Lenovo 6-cell (48Whr) evaluated a range up to 6.4 hours productive commercial use only. With the way people use with realism machines that I could see people getting much lower.

All Lenovo products come with a 1 year limited, if you wish to have more in-depth troubleshooting, do not hesitate to contact your support center. You can check the status of your warranty here.

If you do not already have it, you can try to set the battery stretch feature. It is used to reduce energy consumption when the laptop is running on battery, which increases the time available to the left. I found these insturctions using Search so Lenovo.

Follow the steps below to allow stretching of the battery.

    1. Make sure you have the latest ThinkVantage Power Manager here
    2. Double-click the battery icon in the Windows taskbar
    3. Click on the "Forward" button
    4. Select 'parameters of world power.
    5. Click on 'Settings' for extended battery
    6. Check "Enable Battery Stretch '.
    7. Click OK
  • ThinkPad E430 "battery is not installed.

    Hai,

need help here, my screen on keep showing that my battery installed, no.

I try to search on this forum for the solution, and he said that I had to install the integration of the shortcut functionality, I already have.

but it's still not solve my problem, and weird things is that my keyboard shortcut does not appear on the screen. (when I press the button for volume or caps, it does not show the icon on the screen)

How can I get the right driver for my lenovo, I have to choose the right model for my lenovo.

    My edge e430 series machine A 3254, 25

    IM using win 7 pro

    suggestions please.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi, syl4s

I did some research and found this thread which can be useful. Another user did something similar, but with a different system. The solution that worked for this user was a pilot of power requiring an update. This links directly to the solution, even if the entire thread has some good information. Update the driver should work for you, but let me know just in case it is not.

  • X121e Bluetooth device not detected

Hello, I just got a new Thinkpad X121e (the one with 1.3 GHz i3 CPU). I tried to get the Bluetooth in Windows 7, but the driver gives me an error message during the installation my Bluetooth device is not detected. Bluetooth is enabled in the Bios. Everything else, including WiFi, works without problem. What kind of device is built in this kind of Thinkpad's Bluetooth? Are there other measures I could try to fix this?

I found the solution: the necessary tool is included in the "lenovo power management. Now I turn on Bluetooth with Fn + F5 and it works as expected. Also when you use the ThinkVantage System Update software, it was possible to install the Bluetooth tools when Bluetooth is turned off. Which was not possible, by directly downloading the Bluetooth software.

I really need help. I am a veteran of the U.S. Army who served two tours in Iraq and a deployment in Afghanistan. I am also a single father of two with a daughter in 7th grade and my oldest daughter in her first year of collage. Recently, my daughter in collage had his car broken into and they stole his mobile phone. I can't afford to buy him a new one, but I have a lenovo thinkpad e430, but when I turn on it will display the thinkpad and logo on the bottom of the screen says to stop start normal hit enter. After one or two seconds, the screen goes white, except for a small lock icon and a cursor flashing in the upper right. IM assuming he wants a password but I have no idea what it is. Can someone please walk me througj how this thing works for my child?

  • T400 - Bluetooth - Unattended installation instructions/procedure required software.

    Hi all

Technically, this isn't a problem but a request for information.

I need the info because it will allow me to win that makes it a more awkward solution and I know it's there because the factory preload must have used a method to get this working automatically.

I know I wrote a lot but its all the and I don't want someone of Lenovo to have to ask three times for lack of information, so I have listed everything.

    BASELINE SCENARIO

    ThinkPad T40 [6474-1]
Windows XP Corp w / SP2 NOT the FACTORY PRELOAD OR DERIVATIVE>
I have two 'prototypes' working with T400 by making the current image of the company work on this platform.
We test brand and we need to preload of factory XP installed on it.
The SATA, sysprep, drivers, webcam-reboot-question, etc. have all been corrected and its achievements up to a point where the Device Manager is clean as a whistle and no mistake.

I'm not new to what our image is my full responsibility and it works perfectly on 7 different hardware platforms, 4 of which are laptops.

At the end of the new image, the software following 'silently' install in the order indicated THAT if the system is detected at a Lenovo 6474 - class.

[1] ACPI Power Management SETUP. EXE S - SMS N/A
    [2] Hotkey Utility SETUP. EXE/S-N/A
[3] Lenovo System Interface Driver SETUP. EXE/S-N/A
    [4] utility KEYBOARD Customizer. EXE S - SMS [1] & [2]
    [5] Director presentation Setup. EXE S - SMS [1] & [2] & [3]
    [6] ThinkVantage Access Connections SETUP. EXE S - SMS [1] & [2]
[7] CONFIGURATION of the power manager. EXE S - SMS N/A
[8] Bluetooth Enhanced Data rate software s/o s/o

All drivers are from Lenovo, the second field is the silent installation command line and the third is the dependency table.

    BASIC PROBLEM

As you can see, I don't have a method to do the installation in silent mode of the Bluetooth software.

I tried the Setup program . EXE s - SMS and installation. EXE/s in the main folder and subfolder Win32, the record of the driver but no dice.
It does nothing and leaving sitting there for a certain time, and then restart doesn't show the Bluetooth software installed after the reboot, so I know it does not work.

The Setup program . EXE s - SMS switch is common to all programs using InstallShield for installation in opposition to software Lenovo owner who uses the /S switch and the Bluetooth software uses InstallShield but the silent switch does not work.

The link on the website of Bluetooth driver software is driver ONLY I met who didn't list a silent method of install it and there is no SW1. XML file in the folder of the driver either. I'm pretty sure the SW1. XML file is the file used by the factory preload for install the software after the listing of PCI devices.

Do it manually [Setup.exe, Next, Next, Finish, etc.] works like a charm and does not require a reboot even that pilots have been automatically installed during the Mini-Setup after the sysprep/re image.

The best option would be for a person of Lenovo to let me know the command that I need to run to get the silent option to install the Bluetooth software.

A secondary option would be that Lenovo to help me with what follows in what concerns the procedure, or just give me the below CMD files.

On the laptop that factory preload, the file swtools contains the drivers installed on this model and there the same Bluetooth driver as the site in which he has no SW1. XML or information without supervision.

I came across the following file in the root folder that has some interesting info: c:\swtools\modules.log

Almost at the beginning are these entries

? evaluation of filters for 4gglw6a1 - thinkpad bluetooth software for helike
    ? -filter returned true
? result of the filter expression is true

? evaluation of filters for 4glth2a1 - thinkpad ms bluetooth inf for helike - copy only - lc
    ? -filter returned true
? result of the filter expression is true

looking for blue, the following entries much later in the reference file the above...

    23:04:28.84 Thursday, December 11, 2008, from c:\swwork\other\4gglw6a1.cmd
    ThinkPad Bluetooth Software for Helike
    Thursday, December 11, 2008 23:06:12.29 over c:\swwork\other\4gglw6a1.cmd

    23:16:21.34 Thursday, December 11, 2008, from c:\swwork\network\4glth2a1.cmd
ThinkPad MS Bluetooth INF for Helike - copy only - LC
    Thursday, December 11, 2008 23:16:21.46 over c:\swwork\network\4glth2a1.cmd

Obviously to have these files CMD at hand would be good but the swwork file referenced there is no because it has probably been deleted once completed the preload process.

I have a ghost of the factory image to preload when his "fresh" on the drive hard and don't not started even once.
I did this just after I slapped him preload on but before I started the first time.

I can recreate the image on this laptop with this image and pause before deleting this folder if this can help see me the file in the BACK [Winternals remote recover] but I would still need to know when to stop, etc..

    Thanks in advance. :-)

Original command-line from a factory without first restarting preload goes directly into the files using Winternals recover remote is as follows:

setup.exe/SB /ri /ru in the main folder, not the file under Win32.

This is how its supposed to run.

Guess what happens when you Google only switches with a double quote before and after the switch.

It immediately tells you on page of Bluetooth driver for Vista drivers!

So, basically, Lenovo it documented on page Vista drivers but I forgot to add it to the page drivers XP.

Lenovo, it's a serious blunder that cost me a days work on something that should have been available on the page as well XP anyway.

In any case, if someone reads in fact these, please change the appropriate page.

    Thank you.

  • Is it possible to upgrade a Thinkpad?

    Hi all

I bought a Lenovo Thinkpad E430 62718GV four months in Taiwan. The laptop is built with the classic 14 "display LED (1366 x 768 at 60 Hz) and it has a 720 GB HARD SATA 5400 RPM drive. My laptop is under warranty until 2015.

I would like to install an SSD in my laptop and install the FHD 1080 p screen. Lenovo sell parts and make the upgradation with a cost? Will be my laptop warranty void if improving is made?

I will highly appreciate if you let me know about these facts.

    Thanks in advance.

Download the User Guide in the support section for your model.  It will show you the FRU for your computer.  Guarantees can be a little difficult.  FRU that were part of the options for your model must be correct if bought at Lenovo.  Third party as largest SSD upgrades could be a problem in case of failure of some components.  As far as I KNOW, the display is replaceable with the same version.

FYI - I installed the Lenovo 16 GB SSD and ExpressCache software, and I'm pretty happy with improving boot times.

  • Unable to boot from USB 3.0 E430

    Hello community!

I recently got a ThinkPad E430, and I love it.  I have a minor problem with the boot.

As a Linux user, I regularly boot from usb and cd while trying different distributions and whatnot.  However, I discovered that I can't boot from my USB 3.0 ports.  Not only that, but my computer does not start if I have nothing plugged into them.

I first thought that I had faked my dd command in the transfer of the image, but the usb key works from the 2.0 port. So I thought maybe it was the usb key itself, but this happens with all my usb 2.0 flash drives and 3.0.

I noticed a recent bios update a few days, but I don't want to go through the trouble, if she does not really bring all the benefits.  Actually looking at the itt changelog says that it only supports to the B430.

I guess I would really just know if others in the face of this problem.  Thank you!

My E430 fine boots of USB3.0 ports.
