through the management of dvs network vswitch

Hello

I want to run some tests on dvswitch so I managed to pass the vswitch dvswitch a management network and all my virtual machines are available on the network. So far so good.

now, I want to go back to the standard vswitch.

I have only a teddy bear on my host connected to the network and currently via dvswitch.

is it possible to return dvswitch existing standard vswitch.

Here are the details of the version:

VC server: 5.1.0

dvswitch 5.0

ESX: 5.0

Thank you

Hello

To migrate the network management of a switch distributed to a vSwitch you restore the standard switch on the ESX host.

Here's the documentation that describes the process: vSphere Documentation Center

Note that after this, you must also move all your virtual machines to the standard switch.

ESX expose NFC (network file copy) as a service that uses a converter to perform conversions and NFC uses the management network. As far as I know, it cannot be changed.

There is one exception, if--if you do Linux P2V, cloning goes through the network of the virtual machine and you will not have this problem.

I think you may have a more general with this configuration problem, as the NFC is used not only by the converter (for example, SRM, VMotion, etc...). See this: why vMotion uses the management rather than the network vMotion network?-frankdenneman.nl for something completely different, but which may sometimes cause a problem with this Setup.

  • Cannot migrate through the required network. Someone please...?

I've set up 3 ESXi hosts connected via 2 parallel networks. One is a slower network (base 100) on 192.168.12.0/24, and the other is a speed gigabit on 10.1.1.0/24 network. Each host is to have two physical network adapters for each network.

Home #1 Config is as follows: (also see attached photo)

    vSwitch0 (connected to vmNic0 )-> a

-Network VM (Machine Virtual Port group)

-Management network (VMKernel Port) vmk0: 192.168.12.30

    vSwitch1 (connected to vmNic1 )-> a

-Network SAN (Virtual Machine port group)

    -VMKernel-Special (VMKernel Port) vmk1: 10.1.1.30

NOTE: Host 2 also has a similar setup with a different set of IP addresses.

My problem is that when I try to cold migrate a virtual machine from one host to another (in the left pane you see, sound of 192.168.12.30 to 192.168.12.32), he's still doing the migration through the slower network (vSwitch 0). I want to be cold migration through the fastest gigabit set to vSwitch network 1.

I have not yet tried make clusters or vmotion, because I can't seem to properly configure the network I want to serve. so can you please help me with this? I want to make sure when I do the migration (migration to cold to start), happens through the network of my choice, which in this case is the gigabit network. Thank you very much.

    Hello

The stream migration cold traffic over the first Appliance for management of the system detects. In your case, there are two, with the slower network, being the first one it finds. There is no way to route based on activity, so that you either the entire network managemernt vSwitch1 or you live with slower speeds. Personally, I'm not sure that I would never have my network of virtual computer on the same link as my device/network management since they are generally two areas of different trust, etc..

  • Network connectivity lost every 24 hours after the migration of DVS

Hello community...  Well, I'm puzzled again.  I am running a vSphere 5.5 U3 environment with the latest patch.  I'm going through certification VCP - VTC prep and decided to migrate my (lab at home) environment of standard virtual switches to virtual switches distributed as I have not had a lot of experience with them so far.  Migration seems to be okay.  Before migrating, I used three different 1 Gbit/s links a group of hash LACP-IP on my standard vSwitch.  I have several VLANs for different laboratory networks.  One is specifically used as a DMZ for the WAN to my ISP connectivity.  I created a virtual machine for use as a firewall with multiple network cards, which one is connected to this VLAN WAN.  On the standard vSwitch seemed to work exactly as expected.  For some reason any after moving to a DVS, the firewall VM needs to be recharged all morning before the full network connectivity is restored.  It's a strange problem.  I tried to re - create the virtual machine and play with the security settings of DvPortgroup, but the problem persists.  Anyone out there have any ideas as to what could cause this?

Oh, a little more in detail...  I moved from hash balancing LACP/IP road based on the physical NIC load with the migration to DVS.  Remove groups from the aggregation of connection of the switch too.

Well, change of load balancing policy and upgrade the DvSwitch to version 6 did not help.  However, I stopped the machine virtual and added 4 E1000 NIC as a test.  I've reconfigured the firewall VM to use the new cards instead of the VMXNET3.  Load Balancing has changed back to "load depending on the physical NETWORK card" and always use VGT to separate traffic.  From now on, he went the longest without experiencing the issue so far.  About 16 hours so far without having to restart the virtual machine.  Will keep posted guys.

  • How do Iput a LOCK ICON on my NETWORK BARS to keep my network home is used as a 'hotspot' through the neighborhood?

Our neighbor told me, laughing a few days ago, that the young man that yard work for her, (he is the nephew of 22 of ITS next door neighbours), told him that he likes to use OUR CONNECTION through the WEB to get online!  She found this FUNNY because it is slightly delayed and a victim of the "fetal alcohol syndrome".  His aunt and uncle, HIS next door neighbors, are its legal representatives.  She thinks that her revelation is a joke, because, in terms of education, it is only able to operate at the level of a child of 6 years!   Our neighbor feels that his hypothesis is correct, because she is acting, formed mostly of slot for children of school elementary "special ed").  and that it is unable to 'play' on the web.  I have to disagree.   MANY people with no formal training to become an expert with programming, Windows, or any other platform, are so computer savvy it seems miraculous.  (Our 40 year old son is an example-, he was not typing in high school, nor was he offered computer classes - they have not offered when he was in high school.)  But, he is an expert guitarist (studio work, play in a band for a living and is self-taught programmer and MS Certified (C++) and can do ANYTHING - management website for many customers, and worked for a company of medium size, set up their entire system, databases, links to self-paced independent of training programs for people who want to practice to get contractor of a State building ()) residential and commercial including business law and classes).  The company would not be in business today if they had not hired to put in the computer age - but he cared little attend school and has almost no graduated from high school.  People have all kinds of hidden talents, if they are not quite stimulated interest in learning - and then - they can really surprise you!  People with little formal education (in the field) can sometimes seem to become 'scholars' when they access and interest, and - most importantly - encouragement!  Please, this is not meant as an insult someone out there!  Young children who are old left alone to take care of them when parents feel that they are able to make a sandwich and stay out of trouble, can often teach a lot - if they have a computer available!  How their parents think they understood how to download music from their own iPod, when the adults in the family have no idea how to do it?  This is a big mistake, the thought of a child cannot learn themselves to go online (especially if their previous experience, lived with a family who owned a network).  They do not hesitate in using the network to someone else, since people who don't want use you their networks put always an ICON of PADLOCK on their NETWORK icon - and if the LOCK ICON is not there, are NEED to agree with them! Right?

This young man has not the ability to make changes, but even a childish aged 22, when given opportunity and adequate exposure (and the extra stimulus to think that they are "getting away with something"!  Ha ha!  I have 2 sons, and nothing they did to 8-18 years surprised me - unfortunately.  The network connection is particularly attractive to a CHILD, because it is COMCAST, FAST, (and if one of us has served recently - say when my husband was doing his daily check of the (firm) e-mail or on his favorite site (the FISHING FORUM - it is a real BASS nut - has a large boat, fast), the default behavior is that if he clicks on the USER name) his last entry will come, will come even password disguised and all the young man has to do is to click OK and it is on the site and from there, he can jump around and SO many sites will allow to surf without requiring a PASSWORD to new users, if this is the first time - (a "come - we ' to go to there site and establishing a user name and Word of) past).  I was able to find a show on HuLu without password & USER name, & watch segments and download a song from radio-music-sharing site, without going through a user account!  Often, sites ask not to create an account, specific to the user PASSWORD or username!  If it is our NETWORK of riding and using a machine (not one of our laptops in network or our Big - PC that my spouse uses for video editing - his 'business'), "no prob" no dude!  Our son has set up a GUEST account, so a friend can come and download movies or music sites it goes to aid of bit-Torrent and our integrated CODEC and OB.

When a network (ours is our CABLE operator) is fast and can take to sites where it can play, (our ISP has its OWN section of games on the HOME PAGE), surfers will find something (or somewhere) he wants to see. When you set privileges on some files, recently, I found "UNAUTHORIZED USER" was
summer in OUR RECORDS (unfortunately defined as PUBLIC, since they were LEGAL briefs involving GUARD - and we are all using the same file for the recording of legal documents and letters and analysis, so that all documents for the case can be implemented).  Maybe they don't get the opportunity to do a lot with computers in 'class' - experience of our neighbour described children just Peck and play the piano - like a toddler learning to play music on a toy, but maybe it was all that was expecting what they would do, as a group!  Alone with time to focus, a person with a normal memory can LEARN by doing, RIGHT?

Put a password on your router. Contact the manufacturer of your router on how to make do.

First of all, there is overlap crypto ACL with the VPN static L2L:

crypto ASA1MAP 10 card matches the address 101

    access-list 101 extended allow ip 10.10.10.0 255.255.255.0 172.18.0.32 255.255.255.240

I would remove the 2 lines of ACL 101 above because it is incorrect.

Secondly, from the output of ' cry ipsec to show his ", you seem to be getting the ip address of the"jdv1.australis.net.au", not"CorpVPN"pool pool. Therefore, the No. NAT ACL on the management interface is incorrect. I would just add a greater variety of education no. NAT so that it covers all your ip pool:

    access-list no.-NAT-DU-MGMT scope ip 10.10.10.0 allow 255.255.255.0 172.18.0.0 255.255.255.0

Thirdly, even with your dynamic ACL 'OUTSIDE_cryptomap_65535.65535' crypto map, it only covers the 172.18.0.32/28, so I just want to add a wider range since it seems you get the ip address of the different pool:

OUTSIDE_cryptomap_65535.65535 list of allowed ip extended access all 172.18.0.0 255.255.255.0

Then I would disable the following group of access for purposes of test first:

no access-group MANAGEMENT - OUT Interface MANAGEMENT

Finally, please clear all the SA on your ASA and xlate, then reconnect to your vpn client and test it again:

    delete the ipsec cry his

    clear the isa cry his

    clear xlate

Please let us know how it goes after the changes. If it still doesn't work, please please send again the last configuration and also to send the output of the following:

    See the isa scream his

    See the ipsec scream his

and a screenshot of the page of statistics on your vpn client. Thank you.

  • DVS switch or a standard for the management and vmotion - and what about 1000v?

    Couple on this questions:

    (1) is there a drawback to the use of the DVS of management? I seem to remember at least possibly in the early days of DVS that there is a dependency on vcenter - so that if vcenter was declining, the hosts lost connectivity. I'm sure that this is no longer the case? But... there at - it all real aisles at the use of DVS for management?

    (2) is there a reason NOT to use a vswitch 1000v for groups of management ports?

    1) there is still a dependency on vCenter for management but if vCenter is down the vDS will still continue to operate your just will not be able to manage the switch.

    (2) 1000v is that a Cisco developed vDS - so the same applies and that there should be no problem to use it for the administration port groups.

  • Circuits/server on the same subnet as the management network

I'm having a difficult time for a virtual PC running on my server ESXi.  The IP address is on the same subnet as the management network statically assigned IP address.  The switch that is connected to the server port is trunking.  My question is, can devices on the same subnet as the management network?  If so, how do access you?  You have to create a new vSwitch for this?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Your portgroup for CUP7 is set to VLAN 1, while your progroup vmkernel port has no encapsulation VLAN defined.  Just change the portgroup to CUP7 to have no value in the box VLAN (its under settings for the portgroup).

  • How to see the VSwitch and PortGroup properties in the managed object browser

    Hello

We have a laboratory infrastructure VI3, with a VC and some ESX servers running.

In the managed object browser, I'd like to see the properties of certain objects,

    especially the VSwitches and exchanges.

How do I see VSwitch and exchanges from the CROWD. Here's my data:

    ESX IP address: 192.188.0.228

    VSwitch name: vSwitch0

    The port group name: VM_PG

I know that we can see these properties of Client VI, but I really want to see values

returned for each of the attributes defined in the WSDL file and the CROWD precisely

allows me to do. This will help me to do a bit on our end of modeling.

I tried, but I couldn't really vSwitch. Grateful if someone can give inputs.

    Thank you

    Try this:

and more precisely which lists out them the portgroup and vSwitches

  • Setting up a local network private through the device that extracts public wifi internet

I travel a lot in a RV I don't have a continuous Internet connection wherever I go, usually a public wifi some Camping I am for. I have several devices that I use, but I don't want that they are open to the public wifi network. I've had people send photos from their phone to my Xbox so that I use and I want to be more secure and control my devices.

I have a knowledge of basic networking. I was able to use my laptop to connect to a public wifi and then share the connection through Windows on the LAN ethernet port. I then connect that to my old Netgear DGND3700v2 DSL model with its DHCP function disabled. It worked for several months now, and I am able to connect to the ports of my router modem and lan with my devices. But some games on the xbox does not work because I can't redirect ports or control static and other IP addresses. I think that there should be a much easier way to do it.

I looked in my router Repeater functions, but I don't think that's the way I need to go. I have no access to the routers of the campsites configure them as bases. I need something that will pull simply bind an existing wifi and then deliver this private to my LAN connection.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

It worked perfectly. I bought a Netgear AC1200 and easily plugged into the local public wifi. I then wired to the LAN cable/Fiber gray on the Netgear router port and then reset the router ran smart installation thereon and he set up hands down with a new local network on a separate ip address range. Now all my devices independently connect to my router via wifi or LAN and use internet through the Extender without that person outside to get in and I don't have my laptop of aging on all the time to do so.

  • HP laptop 15 15-r110dx: what makes the recovery through the HP Recovery Manager

    Hello.

Now I can't reset my laptop to its factory settings. and the recovery of original windwos 8.1 is no longer accessible. so I'll download windwos 8.1 pro from microsoft.com and then will install it in my laptop. so after installing, I'll be able to make a recovery of windwos 8.1 partition in my laptop via hp Recovery Manager. Please answer

    SJunaid1

Looks like you used the Win10 GoBack feature infamous attempt to restore your PC updated Win10 to a previous version of the OS, right?

If this is the case then, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but, unfortunately, the Win10 GoBack function is known to be unreliable, and when it fails it can leave machinery in a State corrupted - that seems to be what has happened to yours.

The Win10 upgrade is known, in some cases, corrupt the partition of recovery that are stored by the OEM that built the original machine.  It's pretty much guarantee that no HP recovery will work.

While you MIGHT be able to reinstall and reactivate using a downloaded MS Win8.1, you won't be able to recreate the partition recovery as requiring a compressed image of HP OEM of Win8.1, which you can not create or get.

What will work restores your computer to its original factory state using HP recovery media.  It is a DVD and CD set that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, applications and settings, reinstall the original OS, drivers and utilities for HP. In some cases, you will be able to order a USB instead of discs.  You must order at HP; they cannot be downloaded.

You can look online for recovery from the paged media related: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

Once there, enter your product name or number. On your software page and download the drivers, select your operating system and version. Click on "Update".  If the HP recovery support is available for your computer, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for the command Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click on the symbol '+' to expand this entty and click on order to press for more details.

Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:

If you live in the United States or the Canada, details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

Note that if HP no longer provides a recovery media for your model, a few other sites, you can check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/

Don't forget to read through the material in the linked thread before attempting the recovery: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00707939

    Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.
