Thunderbird 29.5 causes Windows 7 to seek permission "to make changes to this computer.

This has happened only since the upgrade to 29.5. No other version has caused this problem. TBird 29.5 also loses its icon on each new startup get up every morning, but not a restart, requiring a manual purge of the iconcache.db. Why is - what happens to 29.5 and what workaround for these problems?

Re: "Windows 7 permission" to make changes to this computer"". "

In addition to changing the UAC - image settings as shown here:
http://www.PCWorld.com/article/2046046/how-to-fix-your-PCs-worst-annoyances.html

Try this for the specific programmes:

  • Go to the shortcut properties Compatibility tab
  • Make sure that "Run as Administratror" is NOT checked
  • Make sure you check "run in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows 7"

  • Lately everytime I open firefox I get the window «do you want this program to make changes to your computer...» »

    Hello

I would be so grateful to know how to fix t his, because it's really getting on my nerves.

I have windows 7 pro 64 bit. I mostly always use firefox. Whenever i opened a new browser, I never got hit with the windows badge and "Do you want this program to make changes to your computer...." or something to that effect. YOu who have windows 7 know what I mean. Of course I click yes, but I NEVER had to do this before. I don't know what changed, what might have happened. I had to have help with some software unrelated to firefox and someone had remote work on my notebook, but he should not have changed browser settings. It is really irritating me to now end to always open the browser now and have to hear that annoying thing and the badge.

My other browsers IE and chrome do not do this.

How can I fix this? It was never the case before for years.

Thank you thank you very much in advance. I can't use this browser if that's going to happen, he finds himself on my nerves.

A possible cause of this message, it is that Firefox is configured to run as administrator.

Make sure that Firefox is not set to run as administrator.
Right click on the desktop Firefox shortcut and choose "Properties".
Make sure that all items are disabled in the tab "Compatibility" in the Properties window.

    • Privilege level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
    • "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" must not be selected

Also check the firefox.exe program properties in the program Firefox (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) folder.
If you cannot make changes, and then start Windows Explorer as an administrator.

If the new computer comes with Windows 7 Home Premium or another edition of Windows 7, just use the Windows 7 Ultimate product key and do an Express Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade from in the edition of Windows 7 you are now running on the computer.

If the license for Windows 7 Ultimate, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and upgrade Express from Windows 7 to Windows 7 Ultimate edition. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Ultimate edition at the request, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate files the stored settings and programs.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

You will need to disable automatic disk check, and then run the disk of the WINRE (Windows Recovery Environment) command prompt check and check if the c: drive error (there) get fixed.

You try to run the audit from WINRE for drive C: disk drive and if it helps. Here are the steps to open the command prompt in Windows RE:

    b. do one of the following:

    1. If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you must try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

    2. If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to select the operating system you want to repair, and then press and hold F8.

    c. on the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to select repair your computer and press ENTER. (If your computer is not listed as an option, then your computer doesn't understand no repair preinstalled recovery options, or your network administrator has disabled the.)

    d. Select a keyboard layout, and then click Next.

    e. in the System Recovery Options menu, click command prompt to open.

    f. Type "chkdsk/f" and enter.

    g. Type "chkdsk/r" entry.

Check if the HARD drive is encrypted or not if yes then decrypt and see if it works well or not.

  • [SOLVED] Windows 7 hangs during the "you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer.

I was recently on my computer and running windows 7 with happiness and problem free, until I downloaded a file from the internet. When I opened it, windows asked me if I want to allow this program allow changes. However, there is the rub. When I click on 'Yes', the message will disappear, but the computer hangs at the screen has gone even a light, tinted gray, with all of the programs that are still running in the background. It freezes for about 2 minutes and then decides to return to normal, free for me to return to work and navigation. However, the program that I have originally intended to be performed by him to make changes didn't work at all. Confused, I ran over and over again, but with very little success, and the problem continued to appear. I tried to launch a clean boot, but that doesn't help more. Can someone help me please? Thanks :)

Thank you for the support, but I solved the problem.

I did a system restore, and it seems that a microsoft critical update was the culprit of all this? In any case, everything seems to work now and thanks again for all the support and help, I appreciate it a lot :)

  • Try to install Windows 7 from XP, receive the error message "Windows could not retrieve information about the disks on this computer.

Try installing Windows 7 from XP and keep having this error message before choosing my instalation method, Windows not able to retrieve information about the disks on this computer.

Because the migration from Windows XP to Windows 7 requires a clean install anyway, might as well you are backing up your important files and settings using Windows Easy Transfer and do a custom clean install by booting from the Windows 7 DVD.
