Thunderbird freezes fo 10 seconds at the start of new email message - windows 8.1

Hello

I have been using thunderbird on a PC Windows 7 years without problem.

I just installed Thunderbird on a PC of Windows 8.1. Whenever I start a new email message, thunderbird will freeze for about 10 to 15 seconds.

I have exactly the same configuration on the windows 8.1 computer, as I did on the Windows 7 machine.

The only Antivirus application I have is Norton, with all the disabled e-mail settings that it contains. McAfee has never been on this machine.
My profile is 2.5 GB, which is pretty small compared to other people I know.
I tried to delete all my profile .msf files.
I disabled all add ons.
I restarted in safe mode.
I have re-installed thunderbird from scratch and restored my profile.
I noticed that thunderbird uses about 14% CPU during the time it freezes, which falls to zero when he wakes up to the top.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

D

With the exception of the temporary location is not a good idea. It is the location that in most other viral infections that come from the web. Browse an attachment. He goes to temp. If it is infected which is where it will be detected.

This video on youtube shows opening the temp folder. https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=GR-m71hR-_U

I also suggest you try the beta here. https://www.Mozilla.org/en-us/Thunderbird/channel/ A custom installation and rename the folder so say Thunderbird 38. In this way, you can have the beta and the current version running (but not at the same time that they will use the same profile)

There was fixes in IMAP especially accounts that could solve the problem, so I mean it.

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).

    Restore point:

Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

The video card drivers enable the features of the card to use.  When in safe mode or with no driver installed only the basic functions of the card are used.  If the card is faulty, which is more likely, the defective part of the map has probably come into play with the full drivers installed.  This explains why it works with the Basic setting.
