Tiling of a PDF in Illustrator

Hi all

I have a large poster print (2.5 m x 3 m) A0 pages which I believe is called Mosaic. I would like to export

the tiles in multi page PDF. I used the tiling option in the print dialog box, but Adobe has taken off the option «Save multiple page»

PDF with page tiling"the Save as pdf option. I understand that it is not necessary since we can create a multi page

PDF with different work plans, but I want to work plans to be placed automatically with some coherent overlap throughout the

poster. Is it possible to do this with plans of work or other illustrator tools? I have access to the creative range then

I can use all the other products of adobe cs (I couldn't find a way with acrobat pro).

See you soon

Yes, you can use negative numbers in the new Document dialog box. If you know how many pages it will, simply enter this number in the number of work plans and suggested the arrangement. Enter a negative number in the spacing box. Here is an example of 4 pages of letter US together on a bench > double lines are overlapping. When you export the PDF file and choose Multipage PDF to ensure that the use of work plans is checked in the save box.

  • Unable to save a file "smaller file" pdf from illustrator 5.5

We recently insalled Adobe Standard 5.5

I often save in Illustrator PDF files using the PDF options available in the menu bar dropdown PDF when you save files. Usually I will record a Visual as a "smallest file size" or make use of the option of "high quality print" for other files etc.

Why can't do this on CS5.5?

In addition, the color is not accurate at all!

    Help, please

Hi Scott - I found the thread following on the net. So, I looked at my time machine backups and copied the files from there, that I then pasted in my settings folder as you suggest.

    Ta da! Everything works again!

No idea how I could restore these settings from a backup?

    Thank you!

The predefined settings PDF resident in/Root/Library/Application Support / Adobe / Adobe PDF / Settings /.

After installing 10.6.5, 6 predefined files have been removed from the settings folder. The folder hierarchy remained himself, it's just that some of the content in the "settings" have been deleted. I solved the problem by copying settings deleted a backup files.

These are the files that have been deleted:

    More small file Size.joboptions

    Press quality.joboptions

    PDFX4 2008.joboptions

    PDFX3 2002.joboptions

    PDFX1 2001.joboptions

    Print.joboptions of high quality

These files have not been removed:

    Standard.joboptions

    PDFA1b 2005 RGB.joboptions

    PDFA1b 2005 CMYK.joboptions

    Pages.joboptions oversized

Someone at Adobe Indesign community support directed me to restore these files from a backup that solved the problem.

  • Is it better to place pdf or illustrator?

I want to place a rendered plan I made in Illustrator in another Illustrator file.  Is it better to place the illustrator file or to save as PDF and what place?  I want to keep the file size as small as possible.

    You want to bind it?

Or you want to change it in the other file?

When you use file > Place, it is not serious anyway, Illustrator will use the part PDF compatible file anyway (except with 'PDF') to save a file additional PDF makes too much sense.

When you want to change in the other file, you can also copy and paste

  • PDF to Illustrator, fonts listed, only they are not.

Hi hope someone can help you.

I have a PDF file created from the original Quark. When I send the PDF on our printer they need convert to illy with fonts described in order to print the job.

However, when they (and we) are trying to convert PDFS into Illy we get the following message:

A construction of unknown imagery has been detected.

To preserve the look, a text was pointed out.

If the police is described in the PDF file first and then open in illy the message we receive is

A construction of unknown imagery has been detected.

Whatever it is, the police is not indicated in the file of the resulting illy. It's just a set of picture boxes that cannot be changed.

Beautiful visually all eyes, but the needs of the printer to be able to change the font indicates.

Have also tried describing the police in the original Quark first, but resulting illy file has a great picture box rather than the required police described.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Dave

Thanks for your answer John. Sorry for any confusion - was not easy to describe the problem and I think the work ahead a little more details on the work as we go along.

It turns out that the printer is not the help of illustrator after all; they have a small screen printer/sign writers, only a small set upward and they use a specific piece of software, that requires the police to be exposed. They don't modify it as such. So, not illy, but they have the same questions that I found with illy, as described in my OP. We don't know why, but they cannot or prefer not to use the provided PDF file.

The material being printed on is a frosted polypro. at one end of the black Uni is scheduled first with white screen text printed on top. Done this way to recording purposes (don't want frosted polypro showing through at the edge of the lettering) and also by behind the material should be considered black Uni.  I was wrong in my original understanding in my OP, to the subject of how printing was planned.

It's white text that is in yellow in the work of quark that should be highlighted, and which was not converted correctly when the PDF file was opened in illy or indeed in the printer software.

Anyway, as I mention in my update, modify this text in CMYK seems to have solved the problem and the underlined text is maintained by Illy and the printer software. Still not sure why being a spot color would however described the police behavior.

  • How to open a PDF in illustrator as a contour instead of using fonts?

Often, I get the logos of customers like PDF and I need to open and convert them to png.

When I open them in Illustrator, it happens that I do not have a police (and this isn't a free police or maybe that it's free but I have not time to search for it).

The PDF, however appears correctly in other applications such as Adobe Acrobat Reader then I am sure that the file contains the information text in outline view.

Illustrator displays a warning saying I have the police and appear incorrectly in the text with a different font.

To resolve this problem, I often use the command set to 'integrate' the file within Illustrator. In this case, the file is correctly showed as a 'tied '. But I am not able to change (for example, I can't remove a background color) because the file is just embedded and it is not directly editable.

    (1) so my question is: How can open as an editable file and showing the police as contour?

    (2) another question: when I send a vect file to someone else, I should convert text outline? When I do that, is there a way to "return" to the editable text without duplicating the layer?

    Thank you

Hi Monika, thank you for your response.

If I'm going to 'place' and then I uncheck the option 'link', I get the warning "missing fonts." What's wrong?

You must select the option "link".

Flatten transparency on the menu 'object '. Please also read the manual.

  • Why not then Acrobat and Photoshop displays a picture linked a .ai or .pdf, but Illustrator don't?

I have a .ai file and a PDF of a drawing made by someone else.  They both include a bound .jpg and the .psd who was not given with the files.  I understand the concept of linked vs. embedded files and therefore understand why Illustrator 'impossible' to view these images.  My question is this: why Photoshop and Acrobat PEUT open a file very well and show two images related to full resolution?  Which leads to the question "why Illustrator do not appear these related files, if other programs PEUVENT?

Illustrator can do that as well. But you must import the file HAVE specifically. You must create a new Illustrator file and then place the file existing in it. Then you access the embedded PDF.

  • Print PDF from Illustrator CC

I often open the PDF files of the customers with the Illustrator to modify when the pagination or page position is incorrect.  I did this in Illustrator for many years without problem, but since the upgrade to CC, Illustrator invariably closed unexpectedly when I try to print.  Sometimes the impression actually goes to the printer, but I must restart Illustrator CC and reopen my case to continue each time.

  • Edit a PDF with Illustrator

    Hey guys!

IM really new to editing and Adobe work. I had a graphic deisnger do me a flyer design and there is a specific part, that I want to delete and add new things.

My question is, how do I add a PDF to Adobe Illustrator to modify it in a way where the original file is not affected and I can still export it to PDF?

    Please help guys

    Thank you

Illustrator is NOT a general PDF Editor. Some files PDF is good, some will be damaged obviously, other subtle ways, can be found much later.

    An important exception, if

-are you sure THAT the file has been done in Illustrator

-are you SURE that he has not been treated after

-you are of COURSE, you have the same version

-are you sure THAT the creator used the option to save the file HAVE original in PDF file

Then, you can edit and work on the original.

Editing PDF files is desperate last resort for when the original is lost, can be purchased for any amount of money and the backups have been eaten by termites.

During the work, make sure that you get an editable file, not just a PDF file to contract. It may cost more, many designers consider that this is not part of what the basic cost of hedging.

  • Embed fonts by Save to PDF in Illustrator

I have a problem with embedding fonts using Illustrator using the PDF file "save under". I know that this can be done by describing fonts before you save your PDF file. Even when the fonts embed is check in the presets it always shows the fonts being active in the Acrobat before the flight. You can also see them active in the document properties window in acrobat Pro. I played with it for hours and I want to see evidence that there is no active fonts when publishing PDFs to clients.

    Thank you!

It is confusing to me because the fonts are embedded in a PDF file when they are available, as seen on another system and no font substitution takes place. Your screenshot shows that the fonts are included. Problems occur when the fonts are not embedded. In any case, Acrobat is not a function that converts fonts to outlines, which results in a different set of problems.

Spot colors in there can be color modes. If the spot color includes definitions of color LAB, some applications are unable to get a glimpse of these colors. In the file attached above, all tones have values in the LABORATORY.

As I see tones of Pantone colors in the file, it is worth mentioning here CS6, latest Pantone color libraries were integerated who definitions of color to the LABORATORY. You can read the details: http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/illustrator/kb/pantone-plus.html

  • clean pdf in illustrator

This script also cleans the unpainted objects and empty text blocks?

Personally, I do not think because the results of the audit of the negative extendscript and illustrator script.

    var idoc = app.activeDocument;
    var straypoints = [];

    for (i=0; i<idoc.pathItems.length; i++) {

    }

    for (k=0; k<straypoints.length; k++)
        straypoints[k].remove();

I also want to automatically remove all objects that have a white no stroke and fill (white background).

Problem is a pdf file created from an html file from a table that needs to be cleaned. There are a lot of stray points, empty text frames, objects not painted, white "cells" are also be painted in the pdf file.

    Who can help me more?

Works very well. Here is a picture of a file HAVE mode plotted with the elements of the path and of blocks of empty text before and after.

You can include the line #target Illustrator at the beginning to make sure that the ESTK sends the request to the correct application. In regards to the white fill only you can use the Select same fill and stroke in the Select menu to do.

  • Recorded problems with PDF in illustrator

    Hello

I designed a menu for a client in illustrator and saved as a PDF file. That, once I record looks like this...

    Arlo's-Menu-(illustrator)-uneditable-text2.jpg

The customer has now come back to me, because when they download it from the site of printers it looks like this...

    2859584.pdf-001.jpg

I tried registering in different sizes and uncheck and check some options in the PDF save menu but whenever it is downloaded on the website of the printer, it comes out looking bad (not always the same, but still lack of pieces or pixelated with the color changes)

Anyone have any ideas where I'm wrong? Still, it looks good on my laptop, it's just when it is transferred to the site of printers?

    Thank you! =)

Sorry for the confusion 'export' - my brain was operating in indesign.

Here is what I tried it - I don't have illustrator here at home - so I used my work VPN to connect to a machine that has CS5:

    analysis-

file was created in Illustrator 5.1 (part of the CS Suite 5.5).

    No spot colors

    file size is 9.6 MB

    no purge on document

    work plan is 4.25 x 6.25

all objects appear to be vector

    the text outlines is

I tried to make it work and can have a solution (I made a new file, but it is 11 - probbably too big for e-mail)

    possible solution:

1 make a new layer and make sure it is the top layer

Select all the text elements (VEGAN, the address block, all the menu items) move them to the top layer.

    2. turn off that layer

    3. Select all the original layer - go to object > rasterize - in the dialog box that opens - the pixelation CMYK value - 600 dpi - then click OK - this will rasterize the baskground.

When he finally... back on new layer - save the file under a new name (if you still have your original intact).

    4. your PDF for printer this NEW file.

I have attached a jpeg image of what it should look like your finished document (assuming that the finished piece is supposed to be 4-1/4 x 6-1/4) he may need to bleed more (top, bottom and right side).

hope this will solve your problem... good luck

  • Open Photoshop PDF in Illustrator problem

    Hello

I have a problem with opening pdf from photoshop file in illustrator. I have a psd file with a pixelated (photo) background and approximately 100 top shape layers. I'm trying to save it in photoshop pdf format to preserve the elements of vector not flattened for use in illustrator. The saved pdf file is approximately three times larger than the original psd file. Then I try to open the pdf file in illustrator, but I get a message that illustrator can get a glimpse. It only shows the outline of the forms. Do you know how I can save this pdf file to be able to work on it in illustrator? or maybe some tip to copy all forms both from photoshop to illustrator with correct placement? Thanks in advance :)

    Mark

A pdf file must certainly work to illy.

What version of photoshop and illustrator and what settings do you use when you save the pdf file?

Also, you should be able to open the psd in illustrator and keep the forms checking to convert the layers of objects in the dialog box that appears

When to open a psd into illustrator.
