Time machine will not be finished

Time Machine won't complete a backup of 900 GB on my mid-2012 Mac Book Pro with 8 GB of RAM and 1 TB of disk. the OS is 10.11.2. The external drive is USB - 3 5 to Seagate and there is nothing else on the disk.

24-hour backup. For the last three hours, I've seen 35 minutes remaining; There seems to be no progress. What could be wrong?

Run the Console application - it's in your Utilities folder. You can find it by selecting utilities in the Finder go menu.

If the list of newspapers on the left column is not already displayed, view journal list by selecting view list of newspapers on display menu of the Console. Select Show toolbar if it is not already displayed.

Locate system.log in the list, and then select it. Many date and time-stamped entries will appear, hundreds of them, and you need to find the relevant entries to your Mac problem.

Do that type backupd in the field of filter of the Console.

One or more of these log entries may reveal the reason for the problem you describe.

Copy and Paste the log entries in a response. If hundreds of same repetitive messages appear, please change them before posting. There should be no need of several journal entries.

Most of the entries will be cryptic but will contain information that you consider personal as the name of your Mac. If you don't want the information to appear, delete or obscure when you post your answer. Leave enough information so that the Scriptures can be deciphered.

  • Why Time Machine will not erase old backups when it needs more space for a new backup?

I have problems with Time Machine.  I am running on an iMac (21.5 inch, end 2012) with a processor Intel Core i7 3.1 GHz and 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory.  My OS is El Capitan, 10.11.3 version (15 d 21).

Since a few days I received the following Time machine error message:

Time Machine could not complete the backup "IoSafe.

Backup disc neds 47,49 GB for backup, but only 39,98 GB are available.  Select a larger drive for backup or do

I thought that Time Machine was supposed to automatically delete older backups when there was not enough space on the backup drive.  Am I missing something?  Is that what I can do to diagnose the underlying problem?

  • Encrypted time machine will not go up

Last night I "removed" my hard drive (a drive of my book), for some reason any instead of my usual path. I wanted to start over and encrypt my backup disk. I really didn't do this way. Now my drive will not mount! I've tried everything! It shows that if I open my drive utiliity. It shows both the physical disk and the logic of the os x extended volumes called 'time machine', however, that ghost. It cannot mount it through disk utility. If I try to run the first aid, the ghost volume disappears. I also tried these steps with the WD my book nothing helps utilities. I also tried to go through the restore and recovery mode, but it's just a turning wheel without end for hours and hours. Basically, it seems as if she is already encrypted. His is as if he started the process, because I chose, but he removed. But, he asks me the password during restart. A few tips on how to get back? I tried a direct contact with the computer and drive to the wall. I also tried different ports. As a last resort, I tried to erase the disc, but it also doesn't let me do. He said it is "impossible to delete the basic storage logical volume group."

I read a few other threads here and so far, none have allowed... so I post separate in the hope of a miracle! The drive is new.

No one is willing to answer to this?

Of course it is a problem because of the "suppression" of the player. Because I just went out and bought a new drive. The same. Of course recognized the first and as soon as I chose encrypted and the process has started. The drive was missing and it gives the same message.

Time machine will not recognize the backup from another mac

Time Machine will never find "another" Mac backups unless you've been backup that 'different' Mac on the same Capsule you have there.

I am running OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 Can anyone who thinks that the reason for what I fear not having a reliable backup. The problem with the new hard drive external or is - a problem with EL Capitan?

    Hello Arnaud,.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support. It is my understanding that Time Machine was not back up as expected. I certainly understand how it is important to be able to back up your content. I'm happy to help you.

There are several factors that could influence the automatic backup. Please follow the steps in the link below to fix this problem:

If you cannot back up or restore your Mac with Time Machine

In addition to these measures, hourly backups could be affected by your sleep Macs and power Nap settings, depending on which Mac you use. To ensure that your hourly backups are finished, set your Mac sleep to a longer period time. For testing purposes, try to set the duration of sleep at least 1 hour. You can do this in system preferences > energy saver.

In addition, if you use a portable Mac, make sure that it is connected to power during the tests to see if hourly backups work. See the link below to view information on how Power Nap works and how it can affect Time Machine.

How Power Nap works on your Mac

Keep in mind, that Time Machine backs up only files that have changed since the last backup.

    Have an amazing day!

  • Time Machine could not complete the backup

Since installing a Superdrive replacement, Time Machine is not back up.  I get an error message that says: 'Time Machine could not complete the backup "Time Machine backup disk. Full backup impossible. An error occurred during the creation of the backup folder. »

I followed the instructions in the Time Machine error - backup failed, but none of the steps solved my problem.

I suggest that visit you Time Machine FAQ of Pondini helps with Time Machine. It is a vast site with almost everything that you need for using Time Machine. You will not find a better resource for Time Machine in one place. Due to the disappearance of James Pondini is the site is no longer updated. Therefore, some information may be somewhat outdated.

  • Time Machine does not register the last backups

In Time Machine preferences, it signals that the last backup is June 2, but when I go to Time Machine I don't see what

which seems to be backups in recent days.  How do both to sync to declare the same data?

    • Assuming that your profile information is correct, OS X update to the latest version: How can I update to OS X and Mac apps - Apple Support.
    • If you do not already done, simply connect / again or restart your Mac.
    • If you back up the contents of the source that lies in the external devices, make sure they are all operational, mounted and available.
    • If the last time information and the date are still incorrect, continue with the steps below.
    1. Confirm that a backup is not already underway. Then, scroll down to 'Add or remove backup disk... '. "and select it. Choose 'Data' and then delete.
      • If everything works as it should, this will not affect your existing backup history. However, if you have done this until now it is not working as it should, and in an abundance of caution you should consider creating an additional, redundant backup first. If you work with the data that you just can't live without, that a backup is not enough in any case, even if everything works perfectly.
    2. Then select the drive again, connect you and choose 'Back Up Now' in the Time Machine menu bar icon.
      • If you have added previously any exclusion of the element (under the 'Options... button "), you will need to add.
    3. Time Machine will take a lot of time while it makes a 'deep event' scan to determine which files need to be backed up. Meanwhile "preparing backup...". ' appears in Time Machine preferences.
    4. When the "scan deep event" is over, Time Machine will perform a normal incremental backup, which will have the usual amount of time.

That should correct the erroneous information.

  • Time Machine does not believe that a volume is identical to an exact volume in doubles with the same name

    • Had a player named ' external 1. »
    • He began to miss (I had another drive of the same manufacturer, and 'External 1' making the same noises as the other just before it failed).
    • Off time Machine
    • A got a new drive and formatted, calling it "new external 1".
    • All "external 1" copied on 'new external 1 "'.
    • Not mounted 'External 1' and threw it in a box that I keep for hardware failures
    • Renamed 'New external 1' on «external 1"»
    • Time Machine running and went to preferences. In the list of things to exclude the back - ups has been 'External 1.'
    • Removed '1 external' in the list of exclusions (highlighted his name and press the sign less)
    • Checked and found that "external 1" was still on the list of things to exclude
    • Repeated several times, but I couldn't go down the list

Somehow Time Machine does not believe that the new "external 1" is the same as the first (who has done again to the top without any problems)

What can I do to get the time Machine no no keep 'External 1' permanently on its exclusion list and the addresses as the same drive as the one I replaced?

Furthermore, if I rename "External 1" to "New external 1", Time Machine will save it. But I can not just keep the "new external 1" name for reasons of scripts, etc..

  • Time machine could not complete the backup of... The backup disk image could not be found (error (null))

Running OS 10.11.3 on my early 2011 Macbook Pro 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7 with 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, use Time Machine to back up to my Airport 802.11ac purchased 16/09/2014:

Backup failed: Time Machine could not complete the backup of... Airport Time Capsule.   The backup disk image ' / Volume/Data/MacBookPro.sparsebundle ' could not be found (error (null)).   Last successful backup: yesterday at 12:17

I can see the airport and the data file in my network.

I immediately did a full time Machine backup on a USB key and it disconnected from my system.

I unplugged the airport, let it rest for a minute and returned the power plug, let it settle for a green light.  I'm restarting Time Machine backup to the airport.

I need to replace the airport?  The appliance starts to fail?  Or, it is more likely is a problem with winter static electricity that has damaged the image and reconstruction will fix all this.  Reconstruction will take about four hours with no guarantee that it will work.

  • Time machine does not take into account my partition which is case-sensitive.  Recovery has no data of this partition.

I have a partition on my drive that is formatted for OS X Journaled, case sensitivity.  When I perform a backup, then recovery, all data in this partition is missing.  Time Machine does not recognize partitions of case-sensitive?  Strange, as the default format for Time Capsule itself is case sensitive.

You cannot use the formatting case-sensitive with OS X. You will need to repartition the drive to Insensitive in full. You can not do any repairs or restore from a backup Time Machine.

  • After upgrade to El Capitan Time Machine does not automatically

Recently, I upgraded my Macbook Pro and iMac 24 to El Capitan.  Time Machine does not automatically work on the iMac.   I now use the backup to get a backup to run.  MacBook Pro is very well.

Thinking that this might be the associated time Capsule, I removed the disc from the Capsule and ran Spinrite on it.  Car is very good.  Then I deleted all the files on the Time Capsule and created new Time machine backups on two computers.  No problem, except the iMac not run automatically Time machine.

And yes the selection for Time Machine is configured to run automatically.

A bug in OS X 10.11.1 prevents automatic backups that happens when a desktop Mac (iMac, Mac mini or Mac Pro) is connected to a UPS (UPS) with the USB feature.

Please, back up all data before proceeding.

First, check the App Store for a later update to OS X. If it is available when you read this review, install it and see if the problem is resolved. I speak not beta versions.

Otherwise, you can work around the bug as follows.

These must be run as administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.

Please triple - click anywhere in the line below on this page to select:

sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine RequiresACPower 0

Copy the selected text in the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination.

Launch the Terminal application integrated in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

Paste in the Terminal window by pressing the command-V key combination. I tested these instructions only with the Safari browser. If you use another browser, you may need to press the return key after pasting. You will be asked for your login password. Nothing displayed when you type. Type carefully, and then press return. If you do not have a password, you will need to configure one before you can run the command. You can get a warning to be careful. Confirm. You don't need to display the warning.

If you see a message that your user name "is not in the sudoers file", then you have not logged as an administrator. Log in as one and start over.

Wait for a new line ending with a dollar sign ($) below what you entered. You can then quit Terminal.

    Restart the computer and test.

    Hello

The A100-S2211TD doesn t support the Intel Chipset!
This laptop was equipped with the ATI graphics card and the graphics driver on the Toshiba page contains us the graphics driver and chipset driver!

Have you received 100% good recovery CD?

In your case I would try to install Win XP from the Microsoft CD to check if the same error would appear if no drivers are included in the CD of the OS.

If you have not already made a comprehensive network feeding cycle, it would be a good basic troubleshooting step.

To turn off some appliances, you actually pull the plug on the appliance.

Turn off all devices on your network, computers, routers, modem, printers, mobile devices, etc... in any order you want

    Wait a minute

Turn on the modem and let it run for 2-3 minutes by itself

Switch on the device connected to a modem and let run for a minute

Keep turn on devices one at a time about a minute apart, until the entire network is back

    Try a backup

Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure

Your system sounds like it restarts to determine what he complains and then someone can help you to repair.

This is why there is a disable automatic restart on system failure option...

There is another option in the menu F8 Advance Startup Options:

Last good Configuration known (your most recent settings that worked)

I do not think that this will help you, but you can at least say you tried it if someone suggests.
