To access the BIOS Setup on Pavilion G62 running Windows 7

I'm trying to fix a virus Malware white screen and in the process, I need to be able to start my laptop from the USB key. By pressing "ESC" annoys me to the Start Menu and which lists "BIOS Setup" as F10, but I can't scroll down to this option nor the fact by pressing F10 (or any other listed functions) get no response.

Am I being dumb here or the Trojan horse has disabled the ability to use the function keys. If the latter is there anything else I can try please?

Hi Malcolm,

It is always interesting to try a Hard Reset as follows.

Shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Plug the power adapter (leave the battery for now) and see if the keyboard responds.

Another option would be to connect a USB keyboard (if you have one available).

If there is no change, can you post back with the complete model number and the laptop Nr - see here for a guide to the location of such information.

Kind regards

DP - K

Thanks for the reply old_geekster.  I understood what I needed for my HP Envy and who had to press F10 at startup, not ESC.  Once I press F10 fast during the start I in the Boot Manager and has managed to 'Turn on' virtualization, which is what I need to activate "Hyper-V" in the operating system, which then allows me to use Microsoft and VMWare virtualization.

  • How to access the BIOS on a Pavilion Elite e9237c with mouse and keyboard wireless?

I have a desktop computer Pavilion Elite e9237 with a wireless keyboard and mouse. I tried to access the BIOS by pressing F10 at startup with no luck, and I can't access any of the other menus for the start-up eiither. I don't have a PS/2 port on my computer, so I can't get a wired keyboard and mouse. Does anyone know how to access the BIOS with this configuration?

I bought a USB keyboard and he answered in the same way... No bios access. I then studied why it did not work and discovered that it was the way in which he has been connected to the computer. I had initially plugged into a USB hub when he was not working and I moved it directly into a USB port and it works! I plugged my keyboard wireless directly into the USB port and it works too! Thanks for your help... I wouldn't have thought of it if it wasn't for to recommend you the USB keyboard.

  • How to access the bios for hp pavilion s5288d

My pc is a HP Pavilion s5288d running windows 7 Home premium 32-bit. I would like to access the BIOS on this computer but I don't know what button to press and the start screen is so fast that I don't have the time to read the words here. Can someone please tell me what to do to access the BIOS and when to do it. Thank you.

Try F10. Turn off your computer, wait a few seconds, turn it back on and immediately begin pressing the F10 key repeatedly (about once per second). You should get the BIOS. It may take a few tries.

  • How can I access the BIOS on a Pavilion p6710f when the usb keyboard is not recognized during boot?

There is no connection to access the bios with a standard PS/2 keyboard and the USB driver does not load in time to access the bios with a combination of keys on the keyboard. I need to check the version of the BIOS and check the settings of hardware for my readers who are accessible via the BIOS. If I can't enter the appropriate key, how to enter the BIOS? Seems to be a common problem, since I see issues with some answers all over the internet. I even looked for a possible 'hidden' ps/2 connection in the case, but not joy.

    Hi, thanks for the research.

The hard drive on the laptop went faulty then replaced it with a new one... but when turn and select F2 to check the bios or F12 to change the order of boot on cdrom. I get the message "entering setup... If please wait"but nothing happens.

  • Portege Z30 - cannot access the bios Setup

    Hello

I can't enter BIOS setup when starting. Pressing on F2 allows me to enter the master password and HDD/SDD (confirmed validation), but the screen freezes at the "Toshiba configuration utility' graphics without any progress.

This problem began to appear quite suddenly, I enter the setup of BIOS several times before without any problem. The only change that's happened that I know is an event of disruption/recovery failed.

My suspicion is that the laptop is now in the start-up of hi-speed system. Can anyone confirm that? Is it possible to force it to boot normal start time? I'm using Linux, so I can't use the Windows of Toshiba Utilities.

    > I'm using Linux, so I can't use the Windows of Toshiba Utilities.
That s bad:(dans le Toshiba HW Setup vous trouveriez un paramètre pour modifier l'option vitesse de démarrage.)

    > My suspicion is that the laptop is now in the start-up of hi-speed system. Can anyone confirm that?
Hmm in my opinion, if the start-up speed would be set to fast, you wouldn't be able to press F2 and enter the BIOS password.

However, in other cases, if the startup mode is set to fast, you can enter the first INS key BIOS and press the F2 key

    Give it a try.

  • Satellite Pro S500-14Z - how to access the BIOS?

    Hello

on the Satellite Pro S500-14Z I can´t access the BIOS via F2 and can´t change the bootpriority through F12. By pressing F2 or F12 during startup, the S500 beeps and restarts. When you first start, I had access to the Bios and set the password and active supervisor module TPM. Since I have no access to the BIOS before Windows starts. Is there another key to access bios (I tried ESC, DEL, F1, INS) or how can I change the pw supervisor (I know my real password!) and disable the TPM?

    Thank you
    Karl

    Hi karlS_1,

Normally you can access the BIOS if you press F2 before Windows starts. It works with an external keyboard?

You can change some settings in the BIOS using Toshiba HWsetup. This tool is preinstalled on your laptop and you can change the order of boot with this tool.

    Hello bobalot,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I understand that you are looking for the key F10 from your keyboard. The F1 - F12 keys are located in the upper part of the keyboard. The first key on the upper left of the keyboard is the ESC key and go from there from left to right are the F1 - F12 keys.

I hope that I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great weekend!
