To access the files of the user as an administrator

Hi, I saw another thread on here discussing how to access user files as an administrator but I need to ask a question before I attempt it.

The solution I've seen is to check "apply permissions to sub folders.

After that, however, the user will still be able to access their records or their permissions are overwritten with permissions on the parent directory.

This is the previous thread (which has now been archived):OBIEE 11 g - access to records of users

Thanks in advance,

Adam

Open the catalog in the Catalog Manager and then go to the users folder... here you can see the full list of user records... here just change the property of the user ID administrator userid from folder... Then you should be able to access the folder of the user. This way you are not messing around with the permissions of the user to have.

but out of curiosity I know why you want access to 100 + users of personal data? is there any requirement for business or looking for an upgrade?

    What can I do to access my account and My Documents with all my stuff in it?

    Thank you very much!

    Try to find that the problem with the user account is probably not worth the time it would take. Restart the computer in Safe Mode. When you are prompted, choose to log in to the administrator account. Go to control panel > user accounts. Create a new account here. Name anything at random for now. Now navigate to my computer > C drive open > Documents and Settings folder. Your old user account. Now locate all records containing your files. Copy and paste them in the folder appropriate for the new account. Now delete the old account.  You can now change the name of the new account name you had in the old account. It is probably the best way to fix it.

    Hello Cscoler,

    Corruption of the profiles can be caused by malware, by repeated interruptions due to file system corruption and bad hardware issues. Did you run any malware removal software?

    When you created a new user account, have you configured it as an administrator? Do you receive error messages when you try to open a session in the corrupted profile, such as "the system has recovered from a serious error or user profile is corrupted"? When you log in the corrupted profile, are you able to view your data?

    Thank you

  • Need to access the user accounts from previous installations

    I am running Windows XP Pro, and I have installed new software.

    When I have it ran for the first time my PC crashed. Now, whenever I try to load it up it just keeps restarting before you get to the login screen. Safe mode does not help you, or doesn't last known good configuration. There is no recovery point recorded.

    I searched online for help and tried to repair the Windows version by inserting the CD and choose 'Repair', but there is no repair option. He wants me to install a new version of Windows on the partition, which, from what I understand, going to wipe my user accounts. It would be a big problem, as I have a lot of data out there that is very important for me who is not saved. My fault, still backward, etc. No not after the sympathy, just stating the facts!

    I also have Windows XP 64 is installed on a separate partition, and I loaded this up to see if I can see the user account I want to access. I can. But I can't access it because it is password protected, and it just comes up saying 'access denied '.

    So, how do I gain access to this user account? Doing anything to the working version of XP64, either by repairing the other partition inactive?

    All welcome, no matter how much of a long shot it is advice. I'm getting desperate!

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Malkeleah,

    I had real problems trying to get Knoppix to work. I downloaded on my laptop, then had to put on a USB key to burn on the PC with Win 64 on (portable DVD player is read-only), but I couldn't do burn. I kept of burning errors using the built-in burner after first unpacking the ISO on the laptop (no support ISO native in Windows XP), or when I tried to install on win 64 the system burning software I got error messages saying: the software wouldn't run as soon as I clicked to install it. And Yes, I checked that I was using the software compatible 64-bit! No idea what it was, the 64-bit version has never really been used, not even well why it is installed.

    In any case, after that much hitting my head on the office followed a couple of pints in pubs, I managed to find another way around this problem, which was to take ownership of the files according to the instructions on the Microsoft Web site:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx/KB/308421

    It worked wonderfully for me, and I have been able to support Windows 64-bit, re - install XP 'normal' and then appropriated again under that. 2 files come with errors and would not sell the property, but they were not even remotely important if everything is good. I got literally thousands of other files that flies over without any problems.

    In any case, thank you for taking the time to help me, I'm sure that your method would have worked if I had been able to create a CD (I would have posted off the coast for one if everything else has failed because they will send one in the world for any $2 IIRC), but for someone else who did a search and found my ad the above that I mention is worth a go as an alternative method.

    And no, I didn't have the encrypted files. Just locked the account of some simple password protection.

    Thanks again,

    Chris.

  • The right of way to access the users Page in Enterprise Manager?

    Using 11 GR 1 material Enterprise Manager Database Control

    I was looking for the instructions in the online help of Enterprise Manager, on how to change a password. The research has about 6 000 hits: big help that was.

    I finally found what I was looking for, BUT...

    I clicked on an entry in the online help which says "expires. Locking and unlocking accounts database". On this page, there are some very nice step-by-step instructions. Step 3 says "Schema click to display the Sub-page of scheme." It worked as expected. Step 4 says "In the section users and privileges, click on users." I studied this subpage of schema and same process to a search page Firefox and there is no section users and privileges anywhere on the subpage of schema. I could only access the page I was looking for because the word "Users" in the online help page is itself a link to the page I was looking for.

    I apologize for the blow of mouth here, but it's really frustrating and...

    OK, ' nough said. What I want to really know is how to get to the page of users without having to evade the online help to find a link that will take me to the page of users. Is there a way reasonably self evident to navigate users to Enterprise Manager Database Control?

    Thank you

    Gregory,

    Although I'm 11.2 running on my laptop but I have not installed EM top. Can you please confirm that looking for the oracle user password change? If so, there will be a Server tab. In this, you should find a link to the user . From there on, a list of users would come, and you can choose your username. Click Edit and change the password.

    That said, I'm not sure if the docs are confusing. In the 2-day DBA guide, I got it immediately.
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11882_01/server.112/e10897/users_secure.htm#CHDJEBDG

    And from there, I don't think it's hard to do what I understand you want to do. If this isn't the case, please be more specific.

  • To access the user interface objects in attachedObjects

    I have a NavigationPane and pages get pushed on this as long as the user clicks on the different buttons. The pages are defined as the attachedObjects and are pushed on the NavigationPane dynamically like this:

    NavigationPane{
        id: navigationPane
        property variant myPageVar

        Button{
            onClicked:
                if(myPageVar == null){
                    myPageVar = myPage.createObject();
                }

                navigationPane.push(myPageVar);
            }
        }

        attachedObjects: [
            ComponentDefinition {
                id: myPage
                source: "MyPage.qml"
            }
        }
    }

    Now, I would like to connect a signal from a TextField in MyPage element to a slot in my application, something like this:

    QObject::connect(m_pTextField,SIGNAL(textChanging(QString)),this,SLOT(onTextChanging(QString)));

    Anyone know how I can do this?  My biggest challenge is a reference to the object Page MyPage * c++, no matter what I can't seem to be able to acquire one.

    There are several options:

    (1) create a Q_INVOKABLE function in your C++ class by taking a QObject * parameter and export the instance to QML class. After you create the page to call this function and pass it the page dynamically. In this function, make the connection.

    (2) the same approach, but use a function without parameters. In the function callfindChild ("Edit") at the scene of the application to find the page. QML assign an object name to the Page after creation to work.

  • Access the user interface via TimerTask

    Hello

    I am trying to invalidate the screen for updating a clock of a TimerTask. Unfortunately, I keep getting errors that are probably related to the synchronization of the threads properly. Here is my code for the timer... it runs every 5000 milliseconds:

    public void runTimer()
        {
            TimerTask task = new TimerTask()
            {
                public void run()
                {
                    if (!_dragging && !_screenUnlocked)
                    {
                        UiApplication.getUiApplication().invokeLater(new Runnable()
                        {
                            public void run()
                            {
                                synchronized(UiApplication.getEventLock())
                                {
                                    UiApplication.getUiApplication().getActiveScreen().invalidate();
                                }
                            }
                        });
                    }
                }
            };
            _timer = new Timer();
            _timer.schedule(task, 0, _timerDelay);
        }

    Can someone help me understand how to correctly access the invalidate method? Moreover, this method is part of a subclass of full screen...

    You need not be on the wire of event to make the invalidate(), in fact, I would recommend that you aren't.

    There are two common ways to get on the thread of events:

    (1) UiApplication.getUiApplication (.invokeLater)

    (2) synchronized (UiApplication.getEventLock ())

    You must use one of the other, you do not need to use both.

    You can restore the system to the latest date when the sp1 has been uninstalled.,.

    HI - as usual thanks for the reply. I should have explained myself better in my previous answer. Vista SP2 could not be deleted and SP1 could not be found so I suspect that my Vista pc came with SP1 is installed (bought April 2008). Also the pc Vista restorals date back only to last month. Looks like I have to do a re-install? If you have any other suggestions or if you can suggest an address MS to reinstall Vista - Home Premium - that would be appreciated. And as usual, thanks a lot. Here you go:

    1. Set your BIOS so that it uses the DVD drive as its primary boot device.
    2. Start the computer with your system repair CD. If you do not have one, ask a friend to burn you through the control panel / backup and restore. It takes less than five minutes.
    3. Press a key when prompted to boot from the CD.
    4. Select 'PC Repair' in the menu.
    5. Select 'Repair' when prompted.
    6. When you are prompted, select System Restore.
    7. Configure Windows to a point when you were able to log in.
    8. Plan ahead a little and create, test and document an alternative admin account, same as you have a spare emergency House key. This will save you a lot of trouble.

    Hello

    You can try the following.

    Shut down the laptop.  Tap away at f8 that you start the laptop to enter the Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select Safe mode and press ENTER.  If windows will load in this mode, on the Start Menu, click principally made programs, click Accessories, click System Tools and run the system restore.  Choose a restore point at least 24 hours prior to the issue of logon and then proceed to the restoration.  When you are finished, Windows will restart as normal in order to check if you can now connect correctly.

    Another option if the above does not help is as follows.

    Shut down the laptop.  Tap away at f8 that you start the laptop to enter the Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select "Start using last good known Configuration" and press ENTER.

    If none of these options does not help, try to run the steps in the guide on the following link.
