  To get small icons in your Start menu

  Click Start on the taskbar, and then select Properties from the context menu.
  Ensure that the selected option of Start Menu as ist and click Customize to the right of the Start Menu option.
  This will display the Customize Start Menu dialog box.
  Use the Option Select an icon of Sice to Programms and now select small icons

  To configure your display appearance, wants to get small icons on your desktop

  Right click on an open area of the desktop and select Properties.
  Click the appearance tab.
  Click on 'effects' (in my Version of XP in German), perhaps you will need to click on Advanced.

  In my XP there is a "huge symbols" choice, if you have this choice, remove the hook.

  My icons and Web pages are huge and I can't seem to restore.  It's on the small icons and they are still huge.  If I change the zoom on the web pages that it goes down, but I can't move the screen.  I did a system restore and it still not back.  I don't know how it changed at first so I have no idea how to do to get it back.

  We are experimenting the use of large pages to the data store. Operations and facility TimesTen textbooks have information on the configuration of the system to do this, but the instructions seem a little light.   Hi Brian,.

  Using large pages does impact not the other settings in TimesTen. you don't need to change anything regarding things like hash etc. index pages because it comes to TimesTen "internal" pages memory pages not o/s. I also do not use impacts of the large pages other parameters of the kernel such as shmall (I can never remember havign to change those when using large pages).

  Several things are required in order for TimesTen to use large pages:

  1. the kernel needs to be configured to allow an adequate number of large pages (vm/nr_hugepages). The way you do it is fine, but obviously for the 'production' that you re in /etc/sysctl.conf (or equivalent)

  2. the TT daemon must be told to use large pages via the option - largePageALignment (you do this too).

  3. the number of large pages configured must be large enough to contain the entire segment of datastroe TT (PermSize + TempSize + LogBuffSize + ~ 20 MB). You can see the exact size of the segment via "ipcs m.

  4. the kernel vm/hugetlb_shm_group parameter must be set to the o/s groupid that belongs to the user under which runs the main demon TT of. For example, I havea group called timesten (gid = 1000) and belongs to the administrator of the Forum Tt og this group. I have vm.hugetlb_shm_group = 1000.

  With all this in place my data warehouses use great without problem pages (as confirmed by cat/proc/meminfo after that the data store is loaded). That's all you need to do, nothing more.

  SO VERY frustrating to have to deal with the changes that are completely unnecessary and unwanted! It looks like Chrome now. If I wanted to use Chrome, I would use Chrome! Why Firefox feels that it is necessary to set a watch to work?
