Top speed of router?

Hello.

We use a Netgear WNDR3700v4 router.

Our owner has recently increased our speed from 5g to 10g, but we do not see a huge difference.

On the router, it has LED to 2.5 ghz and 5g.

Is - what our router can produce top speed?

IE - if we want to speed 10g we need to update our router?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hello @Dan3FOR

Welcome to the community!

The LED you see are wireless standards. This does not indicate the wireless speed.

You can check the speed of the internet by your ISP?

The router is capable of up to 1000 Mbps or 1 Gbps.

If it's 10 Gbit/s, then you need to upgrade your router.

  • Can satellite A500-17 X - I get full speed with router Linksys WRT120N WLan?

I want to buy a "Linksys WRT120N" for my A500 - 17 X wireless router, and my question is can I get full speed with this router as 100 Mbps or more.
I don't have as much knowledge on wireless routers and that is why I ask.

    And the other question is:
This router will give me good signal in my apartment of 60 m 2 from one room to another?

    Hello

I think your question should be posted in the forum of the manufacturer of the router and not here in the forum of Toshiba.

Anyway. It seems that the Wlan WRT120N router is certified for
    IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802. 11 b, IEEE 802. 11 g, Wi - Fi CERTIFIED, IEEE 802.11n (draft 2.0)

As you can see the supported WiFi standards: 802.11 B, G and N

For your laptop s Wlan card supports Draft N, you should be able to connect to 802.11 N.

  • Download slow speed using router TimeCapsule.

    Hello, I am from Romania.

I use a gigabit internet provider connection. I'm also employee support helps this provider.

For about 2 weeks, I have a TC 1 to 3rd gen (2009 model) which is gigabit wan and lan.

I used prior to a D - link DIR 626 L router with gigabit wan and lan.

With the D-Link router, the actual download speed was 89-94 MB/s with the TC, but not more than 21 mb/s.

I used same cables checked their. I am connected directly to Gpon Gigabit Ontario who works perfect.

I use an iMac mid-2011 with 16 GB of ram, i5 image 2.7 ghz and a SSD Samsung 840 Pro.

If I connect my cable internet provider directly in the Federal Polytechnic of gigabit iMac I get arround 92 - 96 MB/s.

If use the TC as a router... using cables between transport CANADA and iMac... not more than 21 mb/s. The patchcord between the TC and the iMac is cat6 cable.

But for sure isn't the cable... do not forget that the DLINK router has no problem.

What is the problem with the TC?

The strange connection between the Gpon and my TC is granted to be gigabit and it's for real.

Me and my work guys we have tested with another 2 gigabit router and computers of Microsoft cpu/minimum 3 another gigabit/ssd/minimum i5 8 GB of ram.

ALL of them were at least 80 MB/s download.

    Thx for your help,

George Stoica help support @ RCS - RDS S.A. Romania.

There are a few tests that you can run.

    1. check the LAN speed works well. Easy way to do this is to copy a file from the computer to the hard drive on TC.

One big file of about 1 GB or more. What speed do you have? You should be able to manage 20-30MByte/s

Make sure that the wireless is turned off on the Mac for this test. IPv6 on the Mac should be set on the local link only.

    2. If the test still gives you very low speed, you did the Gen3 ethernet... It's called problem.

Test again in wireless... Ethernet is unplugged. Force connection to 5 GHz and make sure the wireless speed is max... IE 450Mbps.

Re-do the test copy of file and it should still get up to 20MBytes/sec

    3. If all of the above tests give you the speed you would expect local network, then the problem is the WAN port.

You do not specify the Mac operating system. but you can do it from a PC using windows version 5.6.1 airport utility

Set the WAN port for lower speed. Try 100 Mbps half duplex.

You can make this change with a utility of v5. If your Mac is the Lion or Mountain Lion, you can easily install 5.6.1 but you must use a method IE decompress the installer.

    http://coreyjmahler.com/2013/03/08/airport-utility-5-6-on-OS-x-v10-8-mountain-Li on /.

If you have the Mavericks El CAPO, you can use this method.

    http://coreyjmahler.com/2014/10/16/airport-utility-5-6-1-on-OS-x-10-10-Yosemite/

If that does not speed up data flow WAN to LAN, then the TC is really defective.

Open the TC and tell me if it uses a power brand Flextronics or Delta... the Flextronics are much less reliable than the Delta. A power supply going bad will cause problems accelerate.

There is also a rare fault... I fixed just a TC there. Where the capacitors on the 1.8 v power inside converter lose capacity.

    See the following page.

    s/apple-time-capsule-repair/new-issue-wi https://sites.Google.com/site/lapastenague/a-deconstruction-of-routers-and-modem...

The solution is very simple if you have DIY skills... weld a Dec...

    Give me your test results.

A Gen3 TC should be around 300-400Mbps Wan on the flow of the Lan without too much problem.

  • Ookla speed test, router, there is a problem with Flash Player

I use Dell laptop, running Windows 7, IE11 browsers with Chrome. The router I have is a Linksys AE6900, with built in functionality of Ookla speed test,.

who has recently stopped working. It comes to getting the error message:

FireShot Screen Capture #008 - Linksys Smart Wi-Fi - linksyssmartwifi_com_ui_1_0_99_161129_dynamic_home_html (640x303).jpgSo, I'm not sure if it's a close routerelp, or a Flash Player problem. Anyone

browser is used, both use the most recent version. Flash is automatically updated in Chrome, and the version of IE is 20.0.0.306. The thing that makes

I wonder if maybe it's the latest version of Flash is, after this started, I had to do a restore of the system image of a six-month-old system. Before that I just could not

update it worked until the Flash has been updated. Although the same test on both the site on the site from my ISP and Ookla continued to work throughout. I do not use

Active X filters, but I block third party cookies. That shouldn't make a difference on my router because it uses a secure connection, and basically my own IP address.

This is a wireless connection, but I'm also wireless when visiting other teams as well. Oh, I also tried to reinstall Flash and so the router software.

I could try to install a version archived Flash, even though I'm bit of a stickler on security. Then, someone has suggestions of troubleshooting, which can

help refine it? Or should I wait for when the next version comes out and see if it works then? Thanks to the one who fixed the time to read this long question.

Looks like you have probably installed Flash, but the Web page is not detect Flash Player.  It doesn't really surprise me to IE11, but it is hardly surprising for Chrome.  My guess is that Chrome is blocking an approach using the router for security reasons guys.

You use an adblocker or the plugin anti-tracking?  If so, you could try to disable them temporarily.  Something that blocks Flash or JavaScript arbitrarily may cause this.

If you have not installed an update of the firmware on your router for a while, I would start there.  Linksys may have fixed on their end.  Otherwise, you might be out of luck.  The landscape of security requires that we (like browser vendors and the Flash) move to a more strict set security policies, web technologies, and which does not always leave room for backward compatibility.

While we could spend time trying to identify the root causes of the problem, it is cooked to your router, so is the only way to fix is via a Linksys firmware update.  If it is not fixed in the latest firmware, it's probably easier to just give her to use http://www.speedtest.net/ directly... and if it works, you have a pretty decent confirmation that Flash behaves as expected.

  • Can IPS deployment limit political from the traffic speed or router?

    Hello

I have a small question: can deploy IPS traffic rate limiting political to Cisco switch or router?

As we know, IPS sensor can throttle suspected trafficking instead of block, don't know if IPS can send policy lever swtich cisco gases or the router.

    Thank you

    -Alejin

You will find the following on what the PPE can do in terms of rate limiting (it also includes what signature and what routers, what must be configured and what not to set up, etc.):

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/security/IPS/7.0/Configuration/Guide/IDM/idm_blocking.html#wp2005501

The above is on IPS version 7.x.

    Hope that helps.

  • Whenever I run Safari my fan comes at top speed and gets hot.  This does NOT happen with Firefox

Since I upgraded to El Capitan, when I launch Safari, my fan is running hot, CPU goes into battery and use 100% drops quickly.  This does NOT happen with Firefox.

Force Quit Safari and then restart Safari while holding down the SHIFT key. This will launch Safari without plugins or extensions. If works in Safari you have to remove all extensions you have installed and reinstall better one at a time until you find the offending Safari extension.

  • Internet high speed & 1stgen AirportExpress

Recently I upgraded my internet speed to 150Mbps. using my (model A1264) 1stGen Airport Express, I am only able to get 50Mbps to my office. My iMac is at short range with my router. My internet is slow speed b/c my Express is outdated? A new Express will allow me received the speeds I have upgraded to or is a desperate need? On the 2nd floor, there is an another desktop or home that connects to the internet regularly (teenage son online games).

The 1 st Gen AirPort Express and 2nd Gen AirPort Express have only 100 Mbit/s Ethernet ports, so in theory, it would be the top speed that the Express could never offer.

To the extent where wireless is concerned, 50 - 60 Mbps would be what to expect from an AirPort Express which is provided a 100 Mbps connection, since he has never been known for its performance wireless... primarily because of a small simple antennas buried in the product.

A new AirPort Extreme has 1 000 Mbps Ethernet ports and the much higher speed wireless capability... (six wireless antennas all located towards the top at the top of the "tower")... which would be the product to try if you want to stay with a router from Apple.  At Apple, and you buy a 14 day no questions asked return guarantees, so if the product does not wait, it may be returned for credit or refund.

  • Bad speed of wireless internet on EA4500

Hello everyone. I have an ea4500 wireless router, I tested the speed at speedtest.net and wireless, I get around 9 Mbit/s. My speed is 23 MB/s when I hard wired the pc.

I check the speed on a Tablet (), pc and a mac about 5 feet away from the router with no walls or something between the two devices.

I checked all the settings, but I don't see anything wrong, I've changed to N mode just to make sure that I use the top speed.

All my devices are able to use N.

My experience on this is not good and that's why I ask your help, thanks a lot.

Redefine the Mode Wireless on joint. 2.4 GHz settings, change the width of the channel to 20 MHz only and select a specific channel. Recommended channel would be 1, 6 or 11. Download inSSIDer to find out which channel is not too crowded. Follow the link provided by jlbjlb.

Another thing that could affect the wireless connection is the location of the router. Make sure that it is on an open and superior location. Make sure it is not next to a metal object or other device which transmits/receives/frequency of the wireless signal. Also, make sure that it is not too close to your modem.

  • ProBook 430 G3: Pleasure of the laptop cooling accelerates the low speeds constantly

    Hello

I have a brand new HP Probook G3 of 430 who works and do everything just great, the only problem is his strange cooling fan noise.

The problem is that it accelerates and accelerates downwards constantly without visible reason. (Please note that this is not normal behavior when coolers change from higher temperature of the processor speed). The interval between the top speed down is less than a second and it is constant. So imagine when cooler works on higher speed, it is not smooth, as it is supposed to be, but little wave / floating.

I'm not sure with speeds laptos fans run, but if view the problem it will look something like shown below

    Action taken:

    • Updated the BIOS to the latest version - did not help.
    • Start the 'Fan always on AC Power while' - sounds even.

Can anyone suggest anything to diagnose the problem of fan? Mayble there's some fan diagnostincs tools or anything else that can help.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I will say that it is a hardware problem with the fan itself. You could try and blow with compressed air. There may be a clog of dust or something that is causing do drag, dislodge, then reclogging. Or the fan may be faulty.

I would like to make a warranty case or if you can return it for a replacement that would be a good idea, too. The Probooks are fairly easy to work, and it's possible hP might just send you a new fan but I doubt little.

  • Speed by Satellite P100-400 SO-dimm?

Hi, I would like to know what is the top speed of the so-dimm this laptop (Satellite P100-400) can handle? I want to add 2 GB of RAM, I currently have 1 GB DDR2 533 mhz and I saw this OCZ SoDimm 2 GB DD2 PC2-6400 800 Mhz memory, I would like t know if they are compatible with the one I have?

Thank you in advance (sorry for my bad English...)

    Hi dude

The maximum supported memory speed depends on the speed of the FSB.
I m not 100% sure that FSB supports this device, but I guess that it s 667 MHz.

In this case, all the compatible memory modules may support max with 667 Mhz speed.
If you use the modules of 800 Mhz, max speed will remain at 667 Mhz.

However, you must use modules that support these specs: DDR2 (PC2-5300) 200 - PIN SODIMM

    Best regards
