  I have a Toshiba Equium U400-145 and the vehicle currently has Windows 7 on it and a 160 GB hard drive. Is it possible to move on to bigger hard drive (1 TB) and if so I can use another external HARD disk (that is, connected by USB) to take an image of the current using Clonezilla, then make the hardware upgrade and restore the image to the new drive once its equipped? (Or Windows 7 will need to be reinstalled)?

  Theoretically, it should be possible. Clonezilla is unknown to me, but in the past, many people have done a similar thing with other applications like Acronis. In your case, I think you need to use Clonezilla Live.

  U400 is God machine and works perfectly with Windows 7. I don't know if you were able to install it perfectly including all necessary drivers, tools and utilities.
  Return to the modernization of the HARD drive. I did not have this machine and can not say for sure is everything going to be OK, but I think that new HARD drive should be recognized correctly with full capacity of 1 TB.

  I have a laptop Toshiba Equium U400-146. The warranty has expired the 17 ^ e ^, and the next day, the backlight has failed. I roughly see the screen in bright light, but it's not very practical.   Hi guys

  I have (had?) a laptop Toshiba Equium U400-124 with Vista Home Premium 32 installed.

  Last night, it crashed, so I rebooted and a message came with «playing a disc error occurred, press ctrl + alt + delete to restart»

  He reappeared when I did the above.
  When I brought, then created a "vista recovery disc" on my desktop pc and tried, I don't receive any of discs/DVDs with the pc.

  It says "windows is loading files", passes through the part of windows 'Hourglass', but then just hangs on a screen black (the arrow cursor is visible and mobile).
  I left it overnight after trying a multitude of times, but remains black.

  Tried running in windows 8 64-bit, but it stops at "bios flashing. Then I tried to go under windows 7 64 bit, but the result was the same. Tried to leave overnight, but it was still "Flash bios" after 8 hours. I had to reboot every time.

  Equium U400 is not supported by Win, so I don t think you could improve the BIOS to win 8.

  As much as I know BIOS update requires some essential Toshiba software that must be installed.
  For example, the value of Toshiba additional package must be installed in order to start the update of the BIOS.
  I think you have goo channes update of the BIOS of the laptop running with factory settings. I mean using the system preinstalled by Toshiba.

  But why you want to update the BIOS?
  BIOS should be updated as a last possibility to solve the problems of the laptop.

  My Equium U400 requires withdrawal of screen I need to replace the broken Ribbon. I can get the frame surrounding the loose screen, but the lower part of the image seems to stick because of the hinges. I tried to remove the screws on the underside of the laptop under the hinges, it seems to loosen their but the screen won't come easily away. I don't want to force and breaking so thought I would ask some advice.
