Toshiba stor.e 1 TB HARD drive no longer works

Hi all

I have a new Toshiba stor.e 1 TB HARD drive and was transfer photos and music to it and all was fine, I ejected it but when I plugged it back I get the message:

F: is not accessible
Data error (cyclic recovery control)

A quick search and it says that run cmd and chkdsk but that simply says:

The type of the file system is RAW
CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives

Please can someone help?

Thank you

According to the article in the Microsoft Knowledge base, the data error (cyclic redundancy check) - indicates that the operating system has found a car with bad sectors or some other intermittent problem.

In my opinion, you should go to disk management and check if the external HARD disk is listed:

-> Panel-> administration-> computer management tools--> disk management

If his list, you can change the file RAW to NTFS format
Then you can perform a chkdsk command.

But you lose the data, change the file format.

As far as I know, using the command: + convert DriveLetter: /fs:ntfs + (drive letter + should be replaced with the drive letter of the USB HDD) should not lead to data loss

  • Re: Toshiba Store Art Exteranal 320 HARD drive not recognized

    Hello

I have a problem with my 320 GB Toshiba Store Art HDD Exteranal.
I bought it a week ago and everything worked well on different systems: Win 7 (64), Vista (32), XP Pro.
But today when I tried to use it it displays a message that * unrecognized device * and it cannot install the driver for this device.

Unfortunately there are no drivers to download for this device drivers Toshiba page.
I checked it on Win 7 (64) and Vista (32) - same problem.
I remember, the last time that I used it was on XP Pro.

I checked the internet for a solution, but in the end I had to write a message here.

    Hope for more help.

If the HARD drive worked perfectly in the past without the use of drivers, then I guess that this has nothing to do with a missing driver.

In your case I would recommend to check and test the HARD disk on another computer/laptop running a Win XP or Vista.

If the drive HARD wouldn't connect and would not be functioning with the help of other computers, then a hardware problem is possible

PS: this external USB hard drives are Plug & Play compatible and so a pilot should not be necessary!

  • STOR. E partner HARD drive does not work with USB 2.0

    Hi all

I recently purchased a 1 TB STOR. E partner HDD and it worked without any problems on my laptop Macbook Pro which has only USB 2.0 ports.

A few days ago, the HARD drive has been disconnected from the laptop without ejecting first, and now it isn't recognized more than my laptop.

I tried on a PC Windows with USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports and discovered that it is recognized when I plug in the port 3.0 but not on version 2.0.

What should I do to have the HARD drive works again with USB 2.0?

    Many thanks in advance,
    Eduardo

    > I tried on a Windows PC with USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports and discovered that it is recognized when I plug in the port 3.0 but not on version 2.0.

Stor.E partner HDD needs maximum power of my 900.
The USB 2.0 port provides 500mA just
If you can connect the HARD drive to two USB 2.0 ports using a USB cable in Y
Or another option: connect a USB hub with external power supply between the HARD drive and the USB 2.0 port

  • 500 GB external HARD drive no longer works

    someone please help.

About 3 months ago I bought a hard drive of PC world 500GBexternal (not sure of the model number, this is money, with external power supply, USB cable A B, very bright blue light on the front, about 60 pounds). I used it regularly both with my PS3 and my Toshiba Vista laptop.

Suddenly it has stopped working. The blue light is on, and noise workout like its spinning but when I plug my devices nothing don't recognize. I tried with the laptop, PS3 and IMAC. Blue light beeps when you plug it into the USB port but that's all. The device don't can't see it!

I tried a new USB cable, but it made no difference

Please help me. I've got the years worth of photos, music and movies out there that I can't lose!

    Thank you
    Simon

    Hi Simon,.

You have only stored the data on that HARD disk? Normally all files must be stored on a second disc, otherwise it s not a backup! ;)

Anyway, you can see the external drive in Windows disk management?
The external HARD drive is always turn vertically?

At the moment it sounds like it's HARD drive is defective and must be replaced :(

  • Satellite A40: HARD drive no longer works

I have a Toshiba Satellite A40 with a 40 GB hard drive that was supplied as standard.
I have had absolutely no problems with it since buying it... so far.

On September 19 I left my laptop (do nothing) for a while I had to rush. I went back to the 'blue screen of death' that says I had a hardware failure and Windows were closed. It was late, so I turned off the laptop and he left until the morning.

The next morning I start the laptop. It makes a noise of terrible rattle than he ever has before. It loaded windows extremely slowly, me connected and then crashed to blue screen.

When I heard the noise, I thought it was the turbine that is blocked will cause the laptop overheating and stopping. Then I checked the fan for obstruction and dust and then cleaned the dust out of the heatsink at the back. I turned on the laptop and the sound came back.

After listening to the noise more closely, I heard that he was not coming right in front of him - the hard drive fan, but the compartment. So when I started the computer I got the Toshiba POST screen and then it would not start. I booted from the recovery CD to reformat the HD, but whenever he tries to read the HD to start re-formatting it crashes. And now, whenever I turn it on I get the message "insert system disk".

I had this problem before with another computer and everything just re-installed windows, but I have never had such a strong and terrible HD noise. I'll try to reinstall windows later today, but wanted to know if anyone else has had a similar problem and if it would be wise to replace the HD altogether. Preferabbly I want to reinstall Windows and recover files lost which unfortuently have not been saved, I typed only their place the same day.

Any comments or ideas would be very useful.
    Thank you.

    Hello

For me, the matter is very clear. According to the description of you, it sounds like a HARD disk head crash. The noise is coming from the inside of the HARD drive.
In addition, the message "Insert system disk" appears because the BIOS can not find the HARD drive or operating system.

Well, unfortunately, in my opinion it is not big thing to do. I don't think that replace drive HARD will solve this problem and allows you to reuse the laptop.

    Good luck

  • Maxtor One Touch Plus 4 500 GB external hard drive no longer works.

Okay, so, I got this hd for about a year now. Never had any problems with it, and I also have a 1 TB WD external hd. The WD it still works perfectly. However, the Maxtor suddenly stop working on me on 30/06/10 while I was using it. I have music files and art for the work I do on a Web site stored on that hard drive. I got my music running and had opened the hd on my Toshiba laptop to work on things that I have towards people. My music has stopped playing its own and the hd show me the files in that my images and things were, but when I clicked on the file, there is no files inside. So, I turned off my computer and unplugged the two hds from the computer for an hour. Their return to and turned back on the laptop connected. I can still enter the WD hd, but the Maxtor one, I can't. Any time, I try to enter it, it tells me I need to format it before so I can use it. I KNOW I have not formatted and kept Microsoft Security Essentials and Spybot S & D up-to-date. I went to the Seagate/Maxtor website and did all the troubleshooting it. I also switched usb ports (my laptop has 4 of them), the cords between my works still WD and Maxtor usb and even tried to uninstall drivers and reinstall them. All my work is stored on this hard drive Maxtor and I really would rather not lose him if I can help it. I also tried to Exchange power between external hds two cords. The WD we still works perfectly then the Maxtor always told me, I need to format it. It appears on workstation as drive Local (e) instead of the name, that he was initially awarded. I know I have to not format or delete anything out of it when he started to do this for me. I hope I can recover the data so that I don't have to just start over and make people wait longer for what I owe them. (Graphics types of work on GaiaOnline a few different "shops" on the Web site.) I also hooked the hd up to a desktop computer to see if it was a problem with my computer, but even on a different computer, it still says I need to format. I am running Windows Vista, the desktop computer is running XP. Hd has also worked on the desktop before it stopped working on my laptop.

Am running SeaTools to see if that will find and fix everything that could cause this problem.

  • my external hard drive no longer works

I have a Toshiba external hard drive (320 GB) and the FAT32 format. It was working fine but all of a sudden it was not as hard drive Toshiba but Local disk: F and it says I need to format it. What should I do? I want to backup my files :(

There is probably nothing you can do.  Hard drives break down.  Actually, let me rephrase: all the hard disks fail.  It's just a matter of time. That is why the only safe way to keep your data is back it upward.

If you do not have a backup, you will need to contact a data recovery service and see if they can restore the data.  However, these services are not guaranteed and very expensive (hundreds of thousands of dollars).

  • WD external hard drive no longer works! Requires formatting?

Help! my external hard drive has suddenly stopped working and windows requires that I have format it before so I can use it again. But the bad news is that I have a lot of important data that I just can't lose so I need to know if there is anyway, any program that can help me out stuff before formatting because I don't want to lose it!

It's a WD Elements 1 TB, and it is only about 7 months since I bought it. I think maybe some virus or something that I don't know the damn because before it empty I did some updates to my laptop and used HD once then on the second plug it has failed?
    Any solution?

  • WRT610N updated firmware, USB hard drive no longer works

    Hi all

Thanks in advance for any help you may have.  I noticed a few people have had this problem, so maybe there is a difficulty.  I updated the firmware to Ver.1.00.02.10 because the release notes, said that it had improved the function USB hard drive.  I've updated the firmware, which is is held reset, pedaled power button, restored my setup, replugged my USB drive & lit.  I am still unable to access the USB drive.  It shows not only upward.

My hard drive is a Maxtor One Touch 750 GB, works perfectly when it is directly attached.  I have 2 PC (one connected via gigabit and either through N), both works very well.

    Any thoughts?

Thank you so much in advance.

    -Tim

When you upgrade the firmware of your router, you must reset your router and reconfigure the settings on it once again, do not restore the Configuration of return still file once on your router. Just reconfigure a fee net settings on your router. That might solve your problem.

  • WD external HARD drive no longer works with Win7 since the upgrade to Win10

My laptop has Windows 7 installed and my external worked fine. My new laptop had win 8.1 pre-installed so I have connected my drive and worked fine but when I plugged in my Win 7 machine he was working more.

I upgraded my new machine to win 10 to see if that would solve the problem, the drive connected but then I could not remove so I stopped the machine and deleted but I can't always connect to a Win 7 machine.  Everyone knows this?

    Hey there Leeaf72,

I'm sorry to hear about the issue. What is the model and the capacity of the drive? Have you tried the drive on other systems or possibly with other USB cables?
I would check if the drive is recognized in the BIOS, Device Manager or disk management. Here's how for the last two:
    Device Manager: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=cXczh0
    Disk management: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=xFP3QI

I would also see if you have all the latest OS and driver updates. Try to reinstall the USB drivers. You can also try out them completely and let the update tool to install.

If the drive is recognized I download and run WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic and see if the car passes the quick and extensive tests. Here's a link: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=a6nz3g

    Post back with some progress,

  • How to move data from iMac to 3 TB Stor.E Canvio external HARD drive

    Hi guys,.

First post, new to all this.

I bought a Toshiba 3 to Stor.E Canvio external hard drive to get a load of movies and music out of my iMac.

I plugged it in, the iMac seems to recognize, so I tried to drag and drop in the folder on the hard drive, but it leaves nothing.

Can someone give me some advice on how to move things from my iMac to the new hard disk?

Thank you very much, looking forward to hear from you.

    Hello

As far as I know the HARD and the NTFS file format disc media.
If you want to use it in Mac, you must re-formatted the system filesystem HFS + for Mac compatibility.

  • Toshiba Store Art 4 USB 3.0 1 TB works not with USB3.0 or USB 2.0 port

    Hello
I have a big problem with my external hard drive and I hope someone can help me.

    Here's the thing:

I used my external drive only on computers that don't have any port usb 3 and all worked well. The drive has been used only with usb ports 2.

Now, I got a computer with a usb port 3 and I was happy to be able to use my external hard drive at full speed.
Has been fine until I wanted to transfer a file using my drive.

The disc has been recognized either of usb ports 2. The NTFS partition is a partition BRUTE! I had to ' chkdisk/f G:' to make it work again on my usb ports 2. And some files were missing!

Then, back on my other computer (usb port 3), the contents were not the same! I mean some of the files that I deleted when it is plugged into usb 2 returned when plugged usb ion 3! And then, back to the usb 2, partition became RAW and I had ' chkdisk/f G:'... once again!

So, to make it as simple as possible, after some testing, it seems that the drive can only be used on the usb ports 2-only on ports usb 3 but can not be used at a time, which is very annoying for a portable external hard drive.

I tried to format the drive to my usb port 2 and return on the usb port 3, the content came as if I had never formatted it and then back on the usb port 2, the RAW score again...

I use Windows 7 and 8.1 Windows computers.

Someone at - it experience that? What is the drive (Toshiba Store Art 1 TB USB3 4)? What is the USB 3 specification? Is - Windows 7 or 8.1 drivers?
And above all: what can I do?

    Thank you very much!

This external plug & play Toshiba HDD supports two USB standards: USB 3.0 and USB 2.0
HARD drive around needs bus power 900mA to work correctly.

The USB 3.0 port supports this standard 900mA. The USB 2.0 port allows only to 500mA.
If in case the HARD disk is not working properly connected to the USB 2.0 port, I recommend you to use a USB cable to Y in order to connect the 2 ports USB 2.0 HARD disk.

I have no idea why the content on the HARD drive is different, but from my point of few of the USB standard does not affect content.

In my opinion, the HARD drive wasn't working properly using a USB 2.0 due to the low power.

By the way: this HARD drive supports some additional features like the ability to oversight function and monitor to alert of the disk space that sends a alert when there is not enough available storage space.

For advanced users, Toshiba has added the ability to customize the backup routine, including the ability to select only the most common file types for backup and change how many times a backup takes place.

    Hello

Usually, the HARD drive password should work after the replacement of the motherboard.
The fact is that the HARD drive password is stored in a special area of the HARD drive and should not be an issue this motherboard has been replaced.

  • What is the largest hard drive that will work in dv6324us laptop computer?

What is the largest hard drive that will work in a HP Pavilion dv6324us laptop?

    Hello:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c01035677.PDF

Support for HARD drives and capacities are listed in Chapter 3, page 3-25.

Personally, I think you could install a SATA II 320 GB to your laptop.  Maybe even a 500 GB.

You could also probably install a drive of 7 200 rpm for better performance or if the battery life between charges is more important for you, then stick with a disk of 5 400 rpm.
