  I have am acer aspire 5050-3371 laptop with windows vista and all available updates currently installed.  My problem is that whenever the battery is installed, you will need to press several times for the password several times before that they will appear on the password entry screen.  given that the actual characters do not show do not know if the correct letters are engtered.  In addition if I remove the battery from the laptop the problem goes away.  You can type the easiily password and the system accepts it.  I tried to get help this problm of the Technical Support desk with Acer was cut when they determned that the laptop was not under warranty.  Any ideas for solving this problem?

  My only suggestion is to go on the manufacturer's site and buy a replacement battery.
  The problem is: it could be a bad connection between the battery and the laptop, in which case, you could have bought a new battery for nothing.

  Something strange happened. It would not work no matter what I tried. I was watching a movie on KODI formerly XBMC. I accidentally hit the keyboard and the mouse moved. I pressed the video button and it lit up. The only thing I can find is that it took several hours for updated driver to work, or the video triggered the Touchpad.

  I uninstalled and deleted all instances of the driver including the reserved system created by a MS Tech backup when my Windows Ultimate has become corrupt. Initially, it was Win-7 Edition Home Premium and when it would not install IE10 when MS gave me a free upgrade to Ultimate.Even then it took a week to finally get installed IE10 because the computer did not have Service Pack 1. Congratulations to MS Techs, they called me several times and worked on my computer. Him spoke excellent English and are based in India.   Problems with the touchpad VN7 - 591 G are a 8.1 engine that doesn't work great and sometimes a bad touchpad.

  You may need to get a USB or wireless mouse until the pilot gets sorted.

• The Synaptics Touchpad in Acer Aspire One does not not after the installation of the wireless mouse.

  After you install a HD on my Acer Aspire One wireless mouse, the Synaptics Touchpad works not at all even if feataure troubleshooting indicates it works correctly.  Default is always to the wireless mouse. I tried to deavtivating the wireless mouse and reset to factory manufacturer.  This does not re-enable the Touchpad.

  follow the first 4 steps, then you can use the option activate or deactivate it... don't need to go into the settings in step 4.
