  Then... I don't know how to solve the problem itself, but things seem to work the way I need them for.  It is a little frustrating not knowing how the problem has been fixed, in which case it should never show himself again, but no real sense to worry about this.

• CD drive disappears after insalling Service Pack 2

  Can someone help me? My cd drive disappeared after installation of Service Pack 2 of Vista I uninstalled it and it reappeared. Then I installed other updates of Vista and the same thing happens.  I insert a cd in the player it starts spining but it won't play at all. I even checked the computer option where it gives you the hard drive and the cd player are supposed to be.  The hard drive is displayed but the cd drive has disappear. I don't know what to hope there, someone could help me.

In all other cases, even when I start my laptop, the frequency is 0.5 GHz (and you understand that it works at low frequency because it lags a lot).
