• Restore the Touchsmart software

  Updated my TouchSmart IQ507 vista computer to windows 7 Professional. Touchscreen still works, but most of the touchsmart software don't.  How can I recover it?  Thanks for any help!

  JRPT, welcome to the forum.

  Here are the specifications of the computer.  In the 'Software' section, it lists all the programs supplied with the computer.  It also shows the programs that you can restore from the recovery disks.  However, this means using the original operating system.  Once switch you to Win7, many value-added programs are not available.

  New, out of the box. Updated 7 ultimate and the tedious things updated. Received a message on a fix failed. System have disappeared. The d: System Recovery didn't work at all, there was no image. The alternative was to order the discs. Who took 6 days. At the same time decided to reinstall ultimate / erase the drive. After a day updated everything and work so installed a bios updated. #Bios error, by default only. .... Good grief.

  Reinstalled the system. Updated the bios - everything looks normal BUT all this beautiful HP software has disappeared and is available on the system recovery, which, of course, offers to wipe the drive and start all over. That's what I call user friendly. It would be really so incredibly hard to just put all the stuff on a separate so drive HP I can enjoy what I paid? Apparently Yes he would. Beautiful machine, terrible concept.

  If anyone knows how I can get all applications of HP software on the drive without erasing all over again, I would be very grateful. Total time until now bother with this machine has been 8 days and it still irritates me.

  You can still return your HP Touchsmart software that's just going to be delicate. I know that it works for other software. Will probably work for Touchsmart software. Do not open it. Insert a blank cd-r into the CD/DVD drive instead. Now, go to, click on my computer and open DVD RW Drive(E in new window.) It must display the empty CD R.  Now, click on the HP Touchsmart 4 software down load icon and drag it into the empty window CD R. download automatically copies on disk CD R. Once finish adaptation. Close all and eject the CD R disc. Then again resert CD R computer. If promt windows open, select open to view files. Install now each individual file search for files of insulation are those to install is scheduled Exc.  This can work. I know it's for the very old Windows XP and Windows 98 software. I have Windows XP more software running on Windows 7 Ultimate more other XP computers and 98 software files were to be individual installed.

  For your records ok please open the window of information on your computer and copy the Windows 7 Ultimate product number for the future. When you don't have to do a full restore because the computer crash. Then you will be able to recover your original computer and high grade with product key number the right way next time through.  If you are still having trouble made me know. Thank you frrw

  I'm on the TouchSmart 300-1020 (product # NY536AA-ABA) running Windows 7 (64 bit) with 4 GB of memory. I want to upgrade the software TouchSmart 3 to 4 TouchSmart. All support for this links are dead.

  Can you help me? My son with autism & other disabilities using TouchSmart - mainly the application of the Web software for the Visual schedule. The upgrade would help us improve the schedule by making it more interactive.

  Is this true? I mean, what makes the suite full sw completely useless?

  Music 2.0 software TouchSmart is unable to access the network drives, unless you create playlists of music WMP. If you have a few thousand music files then this would very quickly become tedious...

  However Touchsmart 3.0 music is able to access the shared network drives, for example:

  

• Why HP Touchsmart weather does not save my location?

• How to load Microsoft Media Center TV from inside the Touchsmart request

  Hello

  I would like to be able to run Microsoft Windows Media Center of the Touchsmart software, however I don't seem to be able to add the Windows Media Center application to the list of "Targets" Touchsmart, in fact I thought that this would be already listed as target - but is not...

  In the case, I tried to add it manually in my target field but I get an error in pink bounce foolishly saying

  "The target entry is not valid. If please check spelling and re-enter the target. »

  Here's what I did and would expect it to work, but don't - mind if I get this you right from the start-> execute command or in a shortcut, the command works, it loads and runs the TV without going through the Media Center Start menu...

  In Touchsmart app,...

  1. click on customize

  2. click on add a tile...

  3. click on the type of program, and then click Next button

  4. in the type of field target in:

  C:\Windows\EHOME\EHSHELL. EXE /HOMEPAGE:VideoFullscreen.XML /PUSHSTARTPAGE:TRUE

  5. in name, enter "TV".

  6. choose an icon in the icon list

  7. click on OK

  (Here is where I get the mentioned error)

  In fact, I think I solved the problem!

  I created a link shortcut on my desktop with the command line and then instead to enter the command line for the target to step 4, I entered the link shortcut instead, for example I created the shortcut first and placed it on my desktop with the following command line:

  C:\Windows\EHOME\EHSHELL. EXE /HOMEPAGE:VideoFullscreen.XML /PUSHSTARTPAGE:TRUE

  I named the abbreviation "TV".

  In step 4, I entered the target manually as:

  C:\Users\Jim\Desktop\TV.lnk

  And then the rest of the steps, now I see the tile in Touchsmart and I am able to run the TV in Media Center live!

  But I still don't understand why Microsoft Media Center is not listed in the default target list...

  Hi, I bought a 510 touchsmart and the HP touchsmart software plays up. The icor-small scroll bar is hidden to the bottom of my screen. I don't see that a cm of the upper part of it. I can touch a few icons and drag them into the top bar, but I can't see the small icons or customize it and close the buttons at the bottom of the screen. Sometimes, the background of the software says "the current screen resolution is not supported" error so I installed the latest graphics drivers from Hp website, but it's not solved the problem.

  I don't know wat to do. I really like this software. When I click on the photos icon in the large bar the photo opens too big right hand mounting bar is half-hidden and theres no way to move it. Help please!

  I see it, try running this command from command line

  SmartCenter deleteconfig

  Then restart your PC.  To reset all the settings of your touchsmart.

  With re-installing the software, I don't really know without having to recreate the image on the PC using your restore CD maybe you might want to try your windows restore point to a date before the problem was obvious.

  I asum you still the touchsmart version 3 software installed on your computer, unless you updated to version 4 of the touchsmart software. Go to your computers Control Panel. On the upper right corner, you'll see by: change to small icons. Now everything is displayed down the long lists. You will see Power Options click on it. The following window opens. This is where you change power settings run. You are welcome. On the touchsmart software version 4 I'm not sure how the two are similar. They should be about the same.

• TouchSmart won't save the home page settings

  Here is an oddity, I had case found and could use some help with a solution. It seems not to be possible to change my browser home page when you use the Touchsmart software. If I run the browser friendly updated the touch, it seems not to be an option to reset the HP default home page. If I run regular IE since within the Touchsmart software, normal home page layout tools are present but do not seem to work. I tried to put new homepages as well compared to the setting "Add or change Home Page" under the icon of the House and through the Internet Options in the Tools menu. In each case, the next time I open the browser, the default value of HP is used. If I open IE after that the OUTPUT of the Touchsmart software, and then reset the homepage works exactly as you would expect.

  All the world has noticed this problem? Is it possible to change the home page of the modified browser? More importantly, is there some way to make the settings of the home page to stick when launch IE through Touchsmart?

  I know that I can always just launch IE outside the Touchsmart, so this isn't a very big deal. I'm just curious.

  You think that a browser in TouchSmart home page is basically just a link. To make you own 'Home Page' to the TouchSmart:

  1. open TouchSmart

  2 - touch customize

  3 - touch add a tile

  4 - Select Web site, and then click Next.

  5. fill your homepage address http:// and give it a name, such as 'Google' and press OK

  6. you should see your new tile with the default globe icon in the list of tiles and it is worth noting.

  7 - Press OK to return to the home page. You can then drag it to the main view.

  If you want to hide the link from HP (called Navigator), return to Personlize and turn off highlight the browser called tile.

  Cool huh?

  The key is:

  Not all models will benefit from an upgrade, which was the case for the latest updates shortly.

  Give it some time to settle down and you can see the activation code appears for some models.

• Link and other programs missing HP Touchsmart program - how can I get back them?

  I had problems with the music library in the TouchSmart software, so I contacted HP and they told me to do a restore system from the recovery partition. I did this and everything seemed to be going well until I started the TouchSmart software, before I did the system restore, I had quite a few programs in the program bar at the bottom of the screen which included the clock, calendar, RSS feeds etc... etc... but after the restoration, I noticed that many of these programs were lacking including link program

  2 questions: -.

  (1) how can I get all these programs back, so that the program bar includes all programs he did before I did the restore

  (2) how can I get the link back program? I ' ved uninstalled the program and let the HP update software install-it seemed to do this, but the program is still in the application of HP's TouchSmart.

  I managed to solve the problem-

  Fortunately I did a set of food DVD

  I restored my first system using the image on my HDD - did not seem to restore the system correctly

  I then tried the DVD restore that I created - Hey Presto they were working - system returned to a State where I had it first, including program link in the Touchsmart software.

  

• HD crash total TouchSmart, what options?

  A few months back my TouchSmart 300 hard drive completely crushed. Cannot start the driveway recovery partition, anything, nothing. I would like to kind of get it back to the top and runing. So a few questions.

  First of all, should what features I for a new HD? 3.5 "I guess, but your standard desktop SATA 3.5" work? Suggestions for a replacement of base?

  Also, I'm now totally out of luck with the operating system? I would like to reinstall Win7 and the Touchsmart GUI. As it is now I'll have to buy a copy of Windows, or is it possible to get a copy to reinstall and use the key on the back of the machine to activate it? How/where can I get the TouchSmart part once she's alive?

  If I have to buy another OS then it will work well with Win8? Looks a touch oriented OS so it would be a good idea? Could I still go with an upgrade during the installation of a new/fresh HD?

  Many questions, but I hate spending money on a new HD and be stuck with something that's not going to work.

  Aternatively, you can read this thread of HP forum titled 'How to install Windows 7 without the disc' and follow the instructions to download and burn a disc of stock Microsoft Windows 7. You can use this disk and the Windows 7 key on the back of your computer to reinstall Windows 7, but you will not be able to use any value added HP "features"... including the TouchSmart software.

  Almostt all 7200 RPM SATA2 3.5 "hard disk should work on your computer. The factory drive is 500 GB, but should work any disk 500 GB to 2 TB. If the drive you buy is a drive AF (Advanced Format), you may experience problems with the HP recovery discs. There are workarounds to solve the problems arising from the use of the readers of the AF.

  I have Touchsmart IQ504, using Vista Home Premium 64 - bit operating system.  About a month ago the weather software has stopped working.  I can't understand why. All the other Touchsmart software works very well.

  He is Expert days HP so I'm here to help you with your problem.  I did some digging around to give you and answer, but before I did, let me share what I think is happening.  The system that you referenced is an old PC, the IQ504, released in 2008. I understand that the weather app is is more updated and thus stops working.  You can get an application similar to the following link.  It's just one of the many weather apps out there so maybe do some looking around and see one that meets your needs.
