Transfer of blackBerry Smartphones and edit text files

Hiya-

I take a lot of notes, on my PC when I and on my Storm when I'm not.  I would like to be able to transfer text files from my PC to my Storm and be able to open it to make changes.

I have access to more often figuratively media card out and can I transfer text files from the PC to the storm ok, but I can't see them in Notepad.  To access I have to go to the media, click on the button of the mobile phone menu, select Explorer and then access it (it is somewhat counter-intuitive and cumbersome, it would be better if the file tree is easily accessible at the top level and all files were available).  When I open the file, it does not resemble those of notebook, I can't change it, and I don't see where these MemoPad files to move it.  I thought they would be in the Documents folder.

Are the files in Notepad, a different format of .txt files?

In addition, to move files MemoPad of the storm to the PC, like discovery in the storm, I don't see the notebook files to move.

Thank you.

Hello!

Buffer positions correspond to the Notes in Outlook (electronic yellow sticky notes). They are therefore also application data - which are usually hidden from direct view of the storm... and the file format is probably owners. Indeed, the BB OS does not work like Windows Explorer... There are things that are simply hidden away and is not accessible.

I'm on BES - and I can create a block-Memo on the storm or a Note item in Outlook and they all have two OTA sync to another. If you are not on BES, I don't know if the DM software can synchronize them or not (sorry...).

  • Is there a way to allow more than one person accessing and editing a file

Hi, when there is a file on a public folder cannot be access by one person at a time or you get the message 'open read-only '. Is there a way to allow more than one person accessing and editing a file at the same time on a shared drive?

It's true, but there are a few special cases.  For example, spreadsheet Microsoft Excel is adjustable mode "shared" so that more than one person can make changes at the same time.  If two people edit the same section of the file, they get a prompt asking you which changes are preserved.

That said-I was never able to use it effectively.

    Hi Tamara133

Welcome to the Forums of the BlackBerry Support

If you stay at 9320 curve then more easiset way to do this is an Assistant to switch device using Desktop software.

KB23677  :  How to switch using BlackBerry Desktop Software devices.

Or if you want to perform a selective restore to your new 9320 then first do a full backup of your old 9700 using desktop software. Once you have your backup connect your 9320 and run the software, select the device from software > restore > data choose selected since your last backup you did > scroll down the list and select only the password keeper and memo key data in this list, then click on apply.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones download MS word files

I have a BB 8830 and want to download some of my files my computer Word. I am able to download the photos with Roxio Media manager, but it seems that the media manager doesn't manage the apps Word.

    Thank you.

The BlackBerry smart phone has not a viewer of Word files on it. You can attach the file to an e-mail, but that's all. You must have a third-party program to view or edit the file. There is a program called DynoPlex eOffice that allows you to edit and view word files. Also, if you just want to view the files, check out a program called BeamBerry.

There is no separate icon for the microSD memory card.

There is no sound wireless problem or a bug.

In fact, the one that your provider tells you is wrong. Your carrier is responsible for the delivery of all services on your device, which is BBID to 100%. As a result, they are also 100% responsible for all official support for all services you pay for. Consider... you don't pay them... and they deliver. Only, they (your operator) have access to their systems to verify what is happening. Only they (your operator) have access to the formal escalation chain so that your problem could receive official assistance from BlackBerry. Please see this "sticky" post, and the son to which it connects, for more useful information to guide you as you go:

I hope that this information will be useful to you.

If you want yet to try to seek a formal support, then your next step would be a full reload of the OS on your device. If you want to try that, then please conduct and first review the backup process discussed via the link below in my sig auto on this post.

Once you have a full backup, then the easiest way is to, on a PC (you can't do this on MAC):

    (1) make sure that you have a current backup and your BB complete... you can find the instructions at the link in my auto-sig below.

    2) uninstall all the BB OS packages from your PC,

    (3) make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

    (4) download and install on your computer, the BB OS package you want:

    • If all you want are the levels of BONE, it is first sorted by carrier - the carrier supports, your search will be fast. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To really get the package up-to-date OS for your BB, you need to dig through and find all businesses that support your specific model BB and then compare the BONE levels they support.

    5) remove all copies of the SELLER on your PC. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:

    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    • C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

6 (a) to change your level of BB OS installed (at level or lower), you can run the Desktop software and connect your BB... the software should offer the operating system package you have installed on your PC.

6 (b) or, for recharging your BB OS level installed as well to change, work around the Desktop software and use the CHARGER. EXE directly, through step 2 in this process:

If, during the process of 6a or 6 b, your BB has an error '507', simply unplug the USB of the BB cord and reinsert it. do nothing else... This should allow the installation to continue.

You can also study the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe what he is capable.

You can also try the "skeleton OS Reload procedure" in an attempt to circumscribe the precise causal element:

    1. Load your OS "bare bones"... If everything is optional, do not install it.
    2. If the behavior is immediately, then try another OS with step 1
    3. If the behavior does not immediately, then run for as long as necessary to make you to be sure that the behavior will not occur.
    4. Add one more thing - no matter how tempting, one.
    5. If the behavior does not immediately present, and then runs for long enough to be sure he won't have the same problem
    6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are responsible or the behavior presents

When the behavior shows up, you know the culprit... the last thing you have loaded.

If the behavior doesn't re-present, then you know that step 1 or 2 cured it.

If the behavior has anything, then you have probably a problem of material level for which no amount of OS or software can heal.

You may also use these tips:

If you are on a MAC, you are limited to only your sanctioned carriers OS packages... but can still use any level they currently have to sanction. See this procedure:

I just installed Desktop Manager 5.0 for my curve. The installation went well, and after it backs up, the curve works correctly. I wonder, however, if the Desktop Manager saved e-mails, MMS and SMS messages in a file on my desktop that could be retrieved and read later if necessary. I heard this answered both ways so far: Yes it did, and no, it's not. No one knows what is the real answer?

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Well, two answers could be correct according to what you were doing. If you performed the backup, and then he did. If you have not run the backup, then it does not. If you performed the backup, then a file with an extension of the RPI could be saved to your PC - search your entire hard drive for *.ipd and see what you find. For the life of me. I can't seem to find the list of category descriptions listed in a *. IPD backup file.

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Hmmm... Category descriptions... I'm not quite positive which is... maybe it's databases? If so, here's a knockout that lists those:

    • KB03974 List of all databases on the BlackBerry smartphone

I'm guessing that your tent a selective restore of certain databases rather than restore complete. What happens, however, is the replacement of the complete database indeed... regardless of the database that is located on the device is is replaced by what is in the IPD file. For some databases, there are tricks to merge the data that can be undertaken - for most messages, calendar, contacts and tasks... 'the organizer' standard databases, but I don't know the method to merge the databases of configuration (as well as alert profiles).

    Good luck!
