How to use transfer windows for xp to xp.  When I plug usb computers are delivered to the top with the same screen and when I try to use the transfer to the new computer, it just said information gathering and sits for hours

    Hello, welcome.

The process is automatic and the maximum transfer rate should be about 20 GB/HR. If the process crashes during that long of a time, it's probably because of something internal rather something you're doing wrong.
For reference purposes, I included this link. It goes into the details of the migration from XP to Vista (and the basic steps you follow). The instructions are for migrating to Vista via the network, but you can easily follow the steps and choose a different option for your specific installation.
For both machines, I recommend you to prepare for the transfer using the following procedure:
    1. click on START > run
2 type "msconfig" (without the quotes) and press enter
    3. go to the "Startup" tab and uncheck all the entries displayed
    4. click on 'Apply' at the bottom right
DO NOT RESTART YOUR COMPUTER AGAIN
    5. click on START > run
    6. Type "cmd" (without the quotes). Right-click on the result at the top of the menu START and select 'run as administrator '.
    7. type chkdsk /r and press enter
8 allow the system to attempt disassembly of the volume
    9. allow the system to plan restarting
    10. restart your computer
11 let checkdisk analyze the file system on your hard drive
    12. Once completed, perform the same steps on the other machine
    13. Once completed, repeat the transfer

    Let us know what happens
    Thank you!

  • I want to change my system. How can I transfer windows & other software in the new system of old?

I need to change my system & the procedure required to transfer my software registered in the new system

    Hello mohan,.

You cannot transfer windows & other software in the new system of old...

In my view, it is possible to copy some software only...

If you want your old software listed, I think that it is preferable to use to use your old hard drive in your new system... If you need more space, you can also lly add another hard drive to your new system...

  • Transfer Windows 7 OS from one hard drive to another

I think of buying a new hard drive soon, but stumbled upon this question.

I currently have a genuine Windows 7 operating system installed on my computer. I had initially installed Windows Vista , but I had bought and installed a Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade.
If I haven't bought a new hard drive (in the sense of higher data transfer rate), would I be able to pass all of my files and my disk Windows 7 operating system hard current to the new hard drive?
Or I have to buy another copy of the 'easy transfer' Windows 7 Edition Home Premium and files?

If you move a drive hard mechanical to another mechanical disk, so long that the reader who is replaced, equal or superior in size, it must be able to back up your installation and restore it on the new drive.

How I have a 64-bit Windows 7 Easy Transfer to install and if I get one to install and build a transfer saved the data file has there 'restore' on a 32-bit Windows?

    Hi George P Boutwell,.

Thank you for using answers Forum.

I think that VMware has a 64-bit/function version. You will need to contact them to verify this.
64-bit to 32-bit is not supported by Windows Easy Transfer, as far as I know.

    I hope this helps.

  • How to transfer Windows 7 Professional to new computer running Windows 7 Edition Home Premium?

WE HAVE CURRENTLY USING WINDOWS 7 PROFESSIONAL. WE BOUGHT A NEW COMPUTER AND NEED TO TRANSFER THE WINDOWS 7 ON NEW OLD COMPUTER WILL NOT BE USED.  THE NEW MACHINE IS CURRENTLY RUNNING WINDOWS 7 HOME.  WE CAN NOT FIND THE DISK AND DO NOT KNOW WHAT WE MUST DO TO TRANSFER WINDOWS PROFESSIONAL. THE DISCS ARE SOLD FOR $200.00 AT THE STORE, BUT SINCE WE USE IT ALREADY, I THOUGHT, HE COULD BE TRANSFERRED?

It is a copy of the retail of Windows 7 Professional store bought? If so, you can try to recover the product key and make an Express upgrade on the new machine:

Here are four utilities, which can display your product keys if they are still there:
    Belarc Advisor: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
(He did a good job of providing a wealth of information.)

    Also: http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml
    and: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html
and RockXP: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4138.html which has additional features.

If Windows 7 Professional came preloaded on the old machine you cannot upload it:

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

If the license for Windows 7 Professional, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade to Windows 7 Edition Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Professional on demand, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional your files, programs and settings retained.

    Hello

I bought this new computer there is a little more than two years and now I tells me that the motherboard and power supply have out crapped on me. We could think of a motherboard should last longer than that, but I digress...

I would replace the motherboard so that I can save the rest of the computer. Is it possible to transfer my license windows from the old motherboard to the new? Or I have to buy another license?

    Thank you

    Greetings,

I hope that you back up the important things on several external media and in the cloud until it happened.

The failure of food fry the HDD/SSD or any other component?

You can contact HP to service here.

HP will replace the motherboard and the MB of tattoo. This would allow you to use HP recovery media to bring the system to a factory State. You wouldn't need a new Windows product key.

Do you make or buy HP recovery discs before this catastrophic event? It appears your PC comes with Win 8.0. Recovery media, you can order here.

HP will reinstall Win 8.0 if you replace the defective components and tie the mother of replacement HP factory for the chassis number of the system (tattoo).

If you replace the motherboard on your own, you can buy a new Windows product key.

On the Windows XP - check the http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ Windows updates (scan custom, install at least all high-priority/critical.)  Software optional ones are to you but I would avoiding all optional hardware device drivers).

Download the version of Windows Easy Transfer (W.E.T.) for Windows XP 32-bit here:

Save it to your desktop to your Windows XP-based computer (which should be corrected until at least Service Pack 3 and be free of malware/virus) and reboot and then double-click on the wet7xp_x86.exe file, please.

  • How can I transfer encrypted files from old hard drive removed (transfer windows easy?)

    Hello

I'm trying to get some files off my old hard drive encrypted. He has xp on it, and I can't start on my new computer. Since it is a separate, apparently, I can't do either windows easy transfer. Is it possible for me to locate the certificate and key, or to transfer files with the key and the certificate on my new computer (I have password from the old computer if I need that)? Can I somehow run WET on this hard drive for keys/certificates can be transferred. This seems to be a common problem from what I have read.
Otherwise, do you have ideas on how to start my old xp disk on my new system without reformatting?
Very important to get these files.
    Thank you!

First of all, I assume you mean encrypted files (EFS, Encrypting File System).  These files are encrypted with a key that is still encrypted in your system like a certificate.  In order to read your encrypted on any other system files, you must restore the certificate from a backup.  The short article is mandatory for anyone considering the use of EFS:
"Best Practices for encrypting file system"
Special attention to the subsection down titled "why you should back up your certificates.

  • How to transfer windows on a new hard drive

How can I transfer all my system windows on a new hard drive

    Hello

There are different ways to do

hard drive manufacturers will normally provide the cloning software to move your operating system installed from the old to the new hard disk

Search for information on this subject on their Web site

If you have vista business or ultimate, you can use the builtin vista complete PC Backup to move

    read the information below

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial145.html

or if you have vista home version you'll need 3rd party software

link below is an example of this:

    http://www.Acronis.com/homecomputing/products/TrueImage/index.html

also to put your machine how you bought, if you decide in different ways:

    1. If vista is preinstalled, you should have a recovery on your old hard drive partition

You can recovery disks to reinstall on your new hard drive

ask the manufacturer of the machine how

    2. contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

    3. or borrow a microsoft dvd vista

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

Save all data, because it will be lost, do the above

  • Easy transfer Windows between Vista Home premium 64-bit and windows 7 32 bit

I have an Acer X 3200 office that works on Vista 64-bit. I just got an Acer One netbook that runs on Windows 7 and is a 32-bit. I tried to use the Windows easy transfer application to transfer my files on to the netbook.
Two computers, when they are linked, forms a connection and the netbook comes with the message that the files can be transferred on a 64-bit to a 32-bit computer.
There are downloads that can solve this problem? I looked on the microsoft site and found none.

Is there a solution to this. Ill be interested to know.

    Thank you

    Lee

Downloads, no, if are two network PCs simply copy the data to another file. Do not try to copy settings or applications (other than a full installation file)

  • Easy transfer Windows of Windows 7 to windows vista does not

    Easy file transfer question

I had to go back to Vista to W7 64-bit.  (long story) Before that, I created a file transfer with W7.  I can't make the transfer of files to Vista.  I was told it would work, but I have problems.  Any guidance would be extremely useful.  Thanks, Jagsrus

    Hello jagsrus,

To add to what said Dena, you must restore the files and settings to a 64-bit computer. Because easy transfer creates all of the backup in a file single .mig, it would not allow you to browse the file and restore the backup files.

Once you create a backup, you can restore the files on a 64-bit computer, you can go on using the backup and restore windows to create another backup that you can restore your 32-bit of Windows Vista. Read this article:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/back-up-your-files

If you have another 64-bit computer, you must restore the data and backup important files. This will help you restore them on your 32-bit computer.
