Transition from 32 to 64-bit

I need to upgrade my Vista Ultimate 32 to 64-bit. the upgrade option is not active if I try to install from CD. Then if I go to upgrade my current Windows Vista option, the I get an error "not compatible".

The thing is I want to remove my HD. Does anyone know if anyway update without deleting my files?

Thank you

32-bit to 64-bit is not an option to upgrade.

They are different operating systems

Do you a clean install with a FULL 64 bit disk/license Vista.

See you soon.

During the transition from 32-bit to 64-bit, you must do a clean install.  You can transfer most of your settings via the windows Easy Transfer Wizard, but you will need to re - install all the applications.

    2. Do right click my computer and then click Properties.

      • If you don't see "x 64 Edition" in the list, then you are running 32-bit Windows XP.

Don't want to make a room upgrade, or if you want a fresh install / clean

You can use a Full Windows 7 or upgrade disk to do a custom clean install. This will remove all of your programs, but you can save your files and settings on an external storage before doing so. You will need to reinstall all your programs after installing Windows 7. Here are the steps:

    1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor to see if there are known problems that might affect installation and if you can install the 32-bit or the 64 bit version of Windows 7.

    2. backup all your files and settings to avoid losing documents, photos and other information. Windows Easy Transfer is a free tool to copy files (not programs) from your PC and then transfer back after installation of Windows 7. If you don't want to use Windows Easy Transfer, you can copy your files to a Flash DRIVE or CD/DVD. Note: The easy transfer will not work when changing languages, or when moving from 64 bit to 32 bit (it will work ranging from 32-bit to 64-bit).

    3. find the discs installation and license/product associated to all your programs keys, because you have to manually reinstall all programs. If you have downloaded some Internet programs you can redownload them.

    4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation do you want?" click "Custom (advanced)." Note: 32 to 64-bit requires restart and boot from the DVD.

    5. when Windows 7 is installed, you can use Windows Easy Transfer (or a different backup method you used) to restore your files & settings and use your installation disks to reinstall all your programs. Then you're done - take advantage of Windows 7.

I went from a Win7 32-bit on a 64-bit win7 machine computer. Now, I get "this connection is not approved" on many pages, including support for Mozilla, Yahoo, send a mail to yahoo, etc. The only thing that has changed is my computer. Everything worked on the 32-bit system. I tried DELL-no-help, I tried Norton-no-help - I tried all published recommendations - nothing helped. Can someone give an explanation of how solve this incompatibility (presumed) Win7 64 bit computers? How can I quickly and absolutely get rid of MESSAGES "THIS CONNECTION IS UNTRUSTED"?
Thanks for ANY help from an expert.

Right after that I posted this problem it seemed the solution:
I noticed a pop-up, named "BROWSERSAFEGUARD" who has attempted to set my computer to a "cleaner" for a price. I checked in my installed programs if there was a "Browsersafeguard" and he was there. I uninstalled it, check "incompatible with my system" and my computer turned on like never before. Lightning fast connections and no message more "this connection is not approved. Wow. It took me 7 days to find it. Hope this will help you, too. • Can satellite P300 - I switch from 32 to 64-bit Windows?

    Hello
Soon I'll receive the CD with Windows 7 and the drivers for my laptop (P300-20 b). I warned for Toshiba Windows 7 Upgrade Option Program. And currently I have Vista 32 bit.
Can I switch to Windows 7 64 bit of Vista 32? And another question, what is the optimal amount of RAM for 64-bit system? Currently I have 3 GB.

    Thanks for the reply!
    Kind regards
    Gregory.

    Hello Gregory

Unfortunately, you can't switch from 32 to 64 bits. If you want to use the 64-bit operating system, you must do any new installation. Install Vista 64-bit using the recovery disc or HARD drive recovery option.
After doing this update install Win7.

Optimal RAM? You can use it with current 3 GB, but if possible you can upgrade RAM and more powerful laptop. ;)
Laptop specifications that your PSPCCE can be upgraded up to 8 GB of RAM. Not bad.

«The transition of the server error has to do with displacement of the IP4 to IP6.» All pages work technically, but if you happen be routed through IP6 instead of the IP4, some of our pages will not appear due to firewall issues. »

  • Windows Installer service is missing from my Vista 32 bit. How to re-install Windows Installer?

Windows Installer service is missing from my Vista 32 bit SP2. How can I re - install Windows Installer? None of the 27 sets of update and Installer Cleanup solutions worked, a last resort option could work but it will not install without the Windows Installer Service.

I tried each FixIt option, says the problem is solved, but isn't.
I tried install Windows Installer 4.5, but it came back as not relevant to my system (because there is no previous installer to update).
Tried a number of recommended patches, but they are all geared toward fixing the problems of Windows Update not a lack of Windows Installer.
MicrosoftFixit50202.msi seems to have corrected Windows Update on my laptop but it won't install on Vista pc because there is no Windows Installer.
I ran the installation disc the option 'fix' with the original, it finished but has not replaced Installer and nothing was fixed.

How can I put the installer of Windows on my computer?  If there are files on the original drive that can be put into drive C what are they?
Someone suggested to uninstall Service Pack 2, and then reinstall, but if I have no installer of Windows that may not work. Others said they reformatted to correct same question, but it did not work.

These previous solutions have not helped:
Could not locate the installer of Windows on Vista Home Premium 32 bit.
Difficulty the installer of windows vista sp2
    code641/MSI
Failed installation error msg error 80070641 Windows update

After a month of butting heads with the refusal of Microsoft to actually help except to sell us all a new copy of Vista or Win7 at the normal price I solved the problem myself.

    1. I made a list of all my software purchased, including required registration keys, etc. and site URL for those who I don't have a disk for.
    2. Deleted registry back up on my external hard disk, reloading apparently one makes the backed up registry problems breed more.
    3. Inserted my drive from Dell to factory since 2007 and restarted. Press a key to boot from the CD. Chose "reformat hard drive' first, then when prompted hit"Reinstall"(slightly different wording on your computer).
    4. After you have reinstalled the factory disc 32-bit Vista, I spent hours 7 next installation of SP1, SP2 and hundreds of updates. Note that several times Windows Update said some updates to date has failed, but finally everything installed correctly by repeating the sequence of installation/reboot to update. There have been a few files that reported to turn off computer completely, I've shown... clicked with indicator shutdown (stop), let it do its thing until it turned off the computer and then the computer restarted manually later. After a total of 8 hours and 14 minutes as my Vista has been fully loaded, updated the installer is still intact, everything works very well and did not cost a penny.

It has been 2 days since the reformatting/reinstall. I reinstalled all my additional software without problem. System Mechanic is back in service without any prejudice to my installation Service. Seems that something is involved with .NET Framework 4 triggered a defense mechanism that caused the installer should be deleted, solved the problem of the .NET Framework from Microsoft, but it can be installed by the installer being removed to protect our computers. The question was not just with Dell computers, it is Dell support is just as incompetent that Microsoft support batch so more Dell owners were here to complain.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FYI: my mobile Samsung with Win7, the correction was easier because my installation Service has not been removed:

    1. Uninstalled all the software using .net Framework 4 (only 2)
    2. Uninstalled all .net Framework 4 bodies found on my list of programs (Client Profile and Essentials)
    3. A ran my System Mechanic to remove debris aka too much clutter and correct registry problems
    4. Laptop rebooted then ran Windows Update. All the updates installed with 3 requiring the judgment to install. .NET framework reinstalled with updates.
    5. Reinstalled my 2 pieces of software that use .NET Framework.

It has been 4 days without any problem at all. So, in my case, it's .NET Framework 4 that created and continued the problem, even if the specific audit FixIt kept saying all .NET Frameworks have been installed correctly.

  • Went from Win 7 32 bit to 64 bit. No network car driver? Tried all I know. Another driver downloads, excerpts. I'm lost

    My characteristics.

380, windows Dell optiplex 7-64 bit, core duo 2.8 ghz intell

Here is my problem (beating a dead horse). Hoping someone can guide me through the solution

I had installed on my Windows 7 32-bit computer, so I decided to "Hey, I'm going up to my ram at maximum capacity and I wanted 64-bit windows to run the ram.

Once I installed windows, everything went great except for the network over not being drivers is not on my computer. So I looked at this question and this has happened to other people, BUT others have better luck that I do. So I did a few things that have been proposed.

Enter diagnosis mode BIO - no problem
Re install the driver Dell optipex broadcom_57xx network card - not RETOURNERAIT NOT COMPLETE the INSTALLATION
went to the start menu and tried device manager - I deleted some, probably import thing, of advice that a 'Dell-name' guy said to do and I was always not download driver
I even tried to install a driver Dell program who would find any problems with the drivers-nothing stupid dell to use does not work correctly.

It all gos to the fact that my computer doesn't have some LAN ethernet or pilot damn wireless device which is causing me to not be able to connect to the internet. The error is literally (you have no driver card network or something like that)

It's really annoying that going from 32 to 64 bits, I have to come here (even though I love this site) and pray for someone to help me. I've never had problems like this before.

I don't know what to do. Maybe uninstall windows and re install 64-bit again.

Please for the love of God someone help me.

  • Question about migration from 32 to 64-bit win7pro

I recently bought a refurbished laptop comes preloaded with Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. Also, the laptop came with installation media on dvd for 32 and 64 bit. I want to migrate to 64-bit laptop, but I fear that the system has already been activated.

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

    http://www.notebooks.com/2009/10/07/using-Windows-easy-transfer-in-Windows-7/

Boot from the DVD 64 bit Windows 7
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • The transition from the bridge of one payment to another

    Hello

We have a customer who currently treat offline credit card transactions that that they have their payment gateway set to 'process (process manually via the existing installation) offline '.

Now, they want to put in place a bridge of the National Australia Bank (NAB).

Could someone provide suggestions as to how it would approach the transition from the bridge of one payment to another whereas BC only allows gateway to a payment to be selected at a time?  In other words:

    1. Is it possible that the existing offline payment gateway and the new NAB gateway can coexist so that we could go through a test phase without interrupting the continuity of the customer with the treatment of existing credit offline transactions?
    2. Or do we have to "cut" their existing sales process until the new payment gateway is fully configured and tested?

Any comments would be much appreciated.

    Gavin

It is not that much work to spend from OFFLINE to NAB TRANSACT

I'm not sure, that you need to worry too much on the implementation and testing before to cut more (unless you have a really high turnover store and you want to be careful)

Perhaps you could watch you log in to your partner portal and reproducing the SITE you want to configure on (if you have an exact dupe). Then you can go about your tests on THIS site and get all tested and functional then cut on the settings when you are happy

    Good luck

Your laptop comes with a version of the OS only?
Specifications of the laptop does not work for me but if you have this laptop with a version only, there is no way to switch between 32 and 64 bit OS.
You can install 64-bit but on your own installation disc using Microsoft.
