Trial of RoboHelp 7: conditional tags

Uh oh. no answer on that. I was wondering why.

I use the trial version of RoboHelp 7.0 and attempt to generate HTML Help while using conditional tags. It's a small project, only 29 files, but it seems every time I try to generate exclusion of certain content (conditional tag: for example, does not YELLOW), the update of the files... progress bar in the generation of HTML Help window freezes and the only way to stop this is to kill the app any idea what happens?

In fact, on further investigation, it seems to be a problem to do with the opening of the original draft of RH5 in RH7. If I create a new project of RH7 and add tags, conditional compilation alright. The only solution I can find is to create a new RH7 project, then import all the subjects of the former. If the tags in the former are then added to the new, it will compile with tags. However, it's messy, as import topics seems to lose the table of contents and index, and graphic links are messed up, etc.. So, I want a solution if possible please!

My FrameMaker 9 tagged conditional text tables is not captured by RoboHelp 8.

My tests show conditional text for tables in FrameMaker when imported in RoboHelp gives me a table with no tag of conditional compilation at all. If I have, in addition, the value of conditional text for the content in the table I find myself alone with an empty table. IOW, I have to "man-handle" all tables in RoboHelp... sucks big time!

My RoboHelp settings are fine as I can see all build tags in FrameMaker in RoboHelp (they are not automatically applied to the tables). Applying the compilation conditional tags before importing FrameMaker files is never a good idea because it is not working properly. From my experience, you must always set the same conditions of generation in RoboHelp as you do in FrameMaker. IOW, repeat!

  • Remove a conditional tag my content

Using robohelp 10 on win 7

I have 5 conditional tags in my HR project. In some cases, the text can be tagged with multiple conditional tags.

I want to delete a batch tag content so that all content no longer uses this tag.

Simply remove the tag from the pod of conditional compilation?

If this is not the case, how can I do?

Simply press the DELETE key and HR will tell you that it will remove the content tag. From my experience, it does. Test it in a fictional project in case of doubt.

  • Conditional tags in RH9

Can we add conditional tags to Image Maps? I right click on the image plane but I get no option related to the conditional tags. Thank you!

    Hello again

Last night I tested and it does not seem you can apply tags to each of the regions. But not really using the RoboHelp interface. What I did to apply a tag to a word just above the image. Then I switched to HTML code mode. I then copied the tag code that RoboHelp inserts just before the marked information and I pasted just before the definition of the map region area. Once you have done that, the tag code end vouscopiezetcollezle than just after the definition of region map.

I then tested by generating the project and see if the field has been deleted. It has been!

One thing that I do not have much testing was to see how the designer of RoboHelp view will hold up to. Sometimes it rather snarkily removes any changes that we make in HTML view.

But it could give a try!

  • RH9 conditional tags works do not

Conditional compilation tags worked before and now are not. I went to the bottom of the list of things and cannot understand what is wrong, or what I have done to stop them.

When I right click the topic in the topics list tag, then click on Properties > advanced, the condition of the internal Web site is verified correctly. The status of the broker site is not. When I publish them, the topic is displayed on both servers, not only that I checked.

I clicked republish all to make sure that each file is published, just to make sure the condition goes there. Still nothing.

The subject has this Green highlighting on the table of contents, so Robohelp believes that a condition has been applied.

Here's what I changed, since it worked:

    • I changed the path of publication for the Web site project broker - one who shouldn't display the topic. The new directory displays the topic (wrongly). The old directory with the old files is still not (properly), when I run the project from there.
    • I started to publish the project to both servers at the same time rather than separately, I did during the initial test. Yet, when I look at the file download dialog and check the timestamp in the directory, files go to the proper places. When I unchecked a download and the paths will be published separately, it still doesn't work any more.
    • I changed the name of the State for the broker's Web site. However, I never checked this box - internal name for the condition remains same site and it is the only project that counts in this test, because the internal subjects should not be published on this site. It shouldn't matter, but I'm there understood because I changed it.
    • I deleted the subject and put it back, going through each of the steps conditional tag, and then republish.

Are there any other variables that I forgot? Help, please!

    Thank you!

  • Topics marked with the conditional tags still appear in the documentation

    Hi all

I have a big problem with RoboHelp 7.

I defined a new conditional tag (I have 2 together) and I mark the topics in the table of contents with relate to this tag conditional, right?

When I generate the chm file, everything is OK. The headings marked with the conditional tag do not appear in the table of contents that I specified to exculde subjects marked with this conditional tag.

When I generate documentation however, everything is still in the document even if I was clear that I don't want these subjects to appear.

Can you please tell me what I'm doing wrong, or how can I properly so that I get my results?

I am using Windows XP Pro and RoboHelp is updated with all service packs.

    Thank you

    Bogdan sailor

Right-click a topic in the table of contents and select apply the tag build conditional. Check out the new / Multiple option.

    This screen displays.

You can clearly see if the tag is applied to the table of contents or the subject. If it is applied on the subject, so it will be not when generating table of contents entry will be automatically deleted. If it is applied to the table of contents only, he is always in the build.

  • RH8 post-conversion, are completed space expression conditional tag

We have installed just RoboHelp 8. After having converted my 3 projects of RH7 RH8, the system has added build spaces between the words of a condtional expression. That's fine because it is much easier to see the words - which represented an improvement over version 7.

However, it is also add a space after the conditional construct sentences, which is incorrect. It adds a space before a comma, adds a space before a period if the conditional compilation expression occurs at the end of the sentence, etc. But it doesn't seem like it does in all cases... I don't know why it does this, but it has happened after the conversion to 8.

The generated help is displayed as in the example below. Note the space before the period in the first sentence and the space before the comma in the second sentence. He did it on a few pages.

    Customer definition details

This page allows you to add a new customer or modify an existing customer. If you add a customer, you must complete the details and then save it.

Tried to download the example of conditional compilation expression, but it is not letting me.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer. It would be a lot to fix it manually, so I hope someone knows how to solve this problem by using a parameter.

    We have the same problem.

Our workaround solution should not use the conditional tags in a sentence, but rather have 2 separate versions of the same sentence and put the conditional tags on the sentences.

  • Conditional tags shake spacing in HTML output

The marked text is displayed in the html help as if there is no space between the words 'Customer' and 'Definition ':

Any ideas as to what is happening here? I was wondering if it had something to do with the words in bold print , since the other tags of the same or not - similar words bolded correctly showed.

  • Build Conditional Tags - problems when generating content

    Hello

Just wanted to print 4 pages of a long aid project so I added the compilation conditional tags called "ad-hoc" and created a print Doc SSL where ad hoc was conditional create value.

When I generate the document I am making everything always. Am I particularly thick today?

I tried marking all 'online', and then adding the ad hoc tag to pages construction the condition as 'online' AND 'ad hoc', but then nothing.

    Help appreciated as never.

    Nick.

    @Tompsk on Twitter.

I don't think that the tag a wide impression is necessary. If you apply credits for all the subjects, then remove some before generating applied online with NO of GENERIC help, you will get only the items which you have removed the tag. No need to apply another.

If you want to print, then forget about tags, just a print layout where you select only the items you want in.

Printing works in the opposite way to online. Impression, that you include, online, you will need to exclude.

  • Problem with the conditional tags in printed output

I write help files for different versions of our software - version 4 and 5 using Robohelp for HTML 5.0.2

There is a large overlap of information between the two, so I use a help file joint with marked topics that are specific to version 4 or version 5.

I went out and then use with 'NOT v4' or "NOT v5" as the conditional tags.

It works fine in the HTML output. However, I encountered problems with the printed output.

Ideally, I want the help file using the option "generate the single document" because it means that the document produced, without the single output field. However, when I do, the tags conditional build fail and I get a piecemeal result.

If I generate the document by using the option 'generate individual documents' tags conditional build work, but I get the only field I want to avoid.

Does anyone know how to get the conditional tags to work when the option "generate the single document" is selected?

Pierre and HKabaker - thanks for your comments.

I think I have the answer now.

In the properties for the SSL Print dialog, the third screen is the dialogue of section layout. I had removed some sections in the right pane (for example, the default title page, glossary, and index) because I did not want them to appear in the final printed output. It seems that without these sections present conditional compilation tags do not work correctly when the document is released by using the option 'generate a single document ".

I started again with a "blank" printing of SSL version. Conditional constructions using the "generate a single document" appear to work fine when I leave the dialog layout intact section.

I can even do the conditional tags build an injustice because the option "generate a single document" (after that I made the changes in the dialog layout section) seems to be that some of the chapters in the table of contents and omitting others.

  • Conditional tags build... weird behavior?

If I apply a conditional build tag to a section in the table of Contents tab, the topic gets included in the output, even if I've specified this tag to exclude.

However, if I ask even conditional build tag a theme from the project tab, then the topic gets excluded (as expected) the output because I've specified this tag to exclude.

Is this lack of uniformity in the behavior of design? I looked at using RoboHelp, and it seems that there is nothing wrong with adding conditional build tags to the themes of the tab contents.

Can someone shed some light on this? I use Adobe RoboHelp HTML 6, Build 099.

    Thank you
    K

PS: It seems that RoboHelp completely ignores tags conditional build that I add to the themes of the tab contents. If I see these topics marked with the project tab or the subjects, there is no shading color for these topics. The shade of color for the watch only subjects if I tag the project tab or subject themes.

    Hi Kutra

Looks like you are badly understand operation of the tags of the generation and the table of contents. The table of contents are simply a file with pointers to your topics. It can be many many topics that never see the light of day in your table of contents, but exists in your project. Just because a topic is not in the table of contents does not remove not the project. So when you apply a label of construction to a node in the table of contents, you simply tell RoboHelp to create the project without this particular table of contents entry, if you exclude the tag. But when you apply the tag to the subject itself, you say RoboHelp to create the project without this topic if you exclude the tag. And if you do that, there's really no need to tag in the table of contents it won't appear here even if the subject was excluded.

  • Conditional tag indicators are visible in the generated output.

    W7, FM 13.0.1.385

Hi, as above really: when I print to pdf, indicators of conditional tag print the pdf file.

You must disable them before printing. IIRC, uncheck the option 'Show Condition indicators' in the conditional window. I think you can do it at the level of the pound on all files at the same time.

  • condition tag applied to insert to insert text not hiding all the Insert

    Hi all

    I am running FM12.0.2.389 on Win7-SP1 (64-bit) laptop with i7 & 16 GB of RAM.

As Arnis had mentioned on a post on the use of tags condition with tables, applying the condition for the character of point tag insertion conceals the entire table when you hide that tag. It's the way I always saw tags condition applied to the insert text, too much work. However, this is not what I see now, but I don't know if what I'm seeing is "as expected" typical behavior, or a new change since FM9 (jumped FM9 FM12), or if there is a problem with my installation of FM. "."

Here's the scenario: I have FM files that serve as overlays of text in multiple documents ("insert FMs" for clarity). The entire library of files FM has deployed several condition tags and variable to accommodate more boundaries between nearly identical products, U.S. / International English and more short documents output the same set of source files. For the sake of discussion, I'll use an example which includes 4 labels of condition:

    • 3D (specific products)
    • LI (specific products)
    • Kit (specific output)
    • Installation (specific output)

Insert FM has 3D and LI tags as appropriate. Container FM has 4 of all labels in the game. The tag is the FM Kit insert insert text for the Insert marker. When I'm running Kit, I can show 3D or LI and achieve the expected results. However, when I hide Kit, text inside of the FM which is tagged with insert regardless of the specific tag always present, even if the rest of the FM in medallion is hidden. I am pleased to provide you with a ZIP of the files needed to use as a sample.

I don't remember ever having this problem in FM7 or FM8 FM9. (I was a user of FM since the FM5.5 and the use of tags condition since FM6.) Is this normal? Is this a change designed as? Or am I facing a sort of weird corruption of my particular FM installation?

    Thank you

    René

    Hi René,.

A text overlay behaves in a similar way to a table. It is anchored at the insertion point, and you apply the condition to the anchor to condition it. When you apply the condition to the Insert, all content conditionally marked in the box becomes a combined condition, i.e. the Insert with 3D and conditions of LI now has Kit, Kit & 3D and conditions of Kit & LI.

Therefore, you have to build the Boolean expression to show or hide so combined cases. In order to hide the KIT and 3D interior and conditions LI of the Insert, the Boolean expression would be:

not ("Kit" or (("Kit" et "3D") or ('Kit' and 'LI')))

Simply hide only Kit will not hide a combined condition (e.g. Kit & 3D).

  • How the conditional tags can be viewed without installed RH?

    Hello

I use RH9 to create chm HTML Help files. I have two tags conditional configuration. Everything works fine to build the chm. I would like to somehow show the content of each conditional tag.  This isn't a problem for someone who has RH9 you can go to the reports to see the topics that are associated with each tag and then display the topic that presents the text associated with a tag.

However, if a manager needs to review that which accompanies each tag but isn't RH9, how I would give them something that shows them the content that goes with each tag?  Which gives them 2 different chm files to compare it won't because there is just too happy to determine the differences.

    Thank you

    John

    Good, a few thoughts...

For the tags applied to all subjects, you could create a set of frameworks that would allow the two subjects to be displayed simultaneously. Each side-by-side or up and down. Which could allow an easy comparison.

And I thought that for content, you could code the text color. But it would probably be a little a lot of work. My thought was that you could create and apply styles that cause the color coding to occur. Only set them in a sheet of unique style that would apply only to generate the file CHM 'review '. Then, you must use the original style sheet required during the generation of the final output.

  • Conditional tags - how to exclude files from the output

    Hi all

I am trying to exclude certain topics (books) of the generation by applying the conditional tags. It works very well and these books are excluded from the table of contents; However, section files are not excluded that the output size is exactly the same. The items I must exclude are huge video tutorials. It seems that HR changes only the TOC when applying conditional build tags.

Any ideas how to ensure that the files of excluded topics are not in the output?

    Thank you

    Hello

If the subjects are actually excluded or not depends on exactly where you added the conditional tags. If you haven't been tag elements of the table of contents, all that is remove entries from the table of contents.

My suggestion is to wipe the table of Contents formatting per tag and add the tags to the subjects themselves. Then, they should be excluded. And when they are excluded, they will disappear also the table of contents.
