Troubleshooting of the GPU acceleration

Hello

I LR6 with active GPU but I use MSI Afterburner to monitor the use of my graphics card and it is always 0% when using lightroom, RAW conversion to DNG format or JPG export. Why is my card not used and in what scenarios the GPU get used?

  • Cannot disable the GPU acceleration

I tried the GPU acceleration in the past, but it has not been activated for my Radeon HD 6950. Ironically, today, I found it was and he lit. LR soon froze in the develop module, so I went into preferences to turn it off again. I tried several times, but it is not clear, everything freezes! I tried to restart, but crashes again on the attempt. Is the only way to delete the preferences file, and if so, where is it?

    Hi Bongboots,

    Please follow the Solution below

    1. Go to edit > preference > Performance > uncheck "processor chart use" If this does not solves the problem then,
    2. With Lightroom closed
    • Access

  • LR CC 2015.3 version still crashes when the GPU acceleration is used!

Today, I had installed Version 2015.3 and was hopeful that all the bugs have been fixed and all the problems of recent months have disappeared.

Wishful thinking? When I turn on the GPU acceleration, it freezes again! When I disable it, everything seems to work well.

I use a series of 380 MSI AMD Radeon R9 with 4 GB of GDDR5 memory on a Windows 7 computer.

    1. What is the host and the guest operating system?

    2. is the VM new OS installed after the installation of workstation 11? If there are the VM, you should install the vmware grouped with WS11 tools. And before you power on the virtual machine, make sure you choose the 3D graphics acceleration, then select the recommended graphics memory (--> display setting).

  • The Nvidia GTX 970 works with the gpu acceleration in first pro / after effects.

The Nvidia GTX 970 works with the gpu acceleration in first pro / after effects.

I want to know as I suppose it would be, but it is not in the configuration required for the cuda acceleration.

Yes, he does. I have the 980 and it works very well also.

  • Performance is worse with the GPU acceleration that without

I have a Windows 7 system fast, i7 980 X processor with a monitor @ 2560 x 1440 pixels. As a photographer, I'm processing of thousands of photos and my PC can not be fast enough, so I thought that I invest a little in a new graphics card. OK, I have not bought a Quadro, but with GTX 970 from Nvidia, I always feel a modern, fast, with a value of more than $ 400 map.

My first experiences after the installation of the new graphics card are more then disappointing - a lot is worse, running without any GPU acceleration. Before, I could scroll an image to the image almost no imperceptible lag. With the GPU acceleration turned on, each image must be "rendered" first first you get a blurry picture of Pexelated / of complitely and flackers of color shortly, then after a while, it becomes more clear. So it seems that with GPU acceleration turned on, Lightroom 6 completely ignores the preview images pre-rendered - FACT IT MAKE any SENSE WHAT? Yes, all the sliders mode develop work faster, but the preview shown instantly image is a false low resolution and it always takes time for an image high resolution to display - as much time, as it should, making it with a CPU.

For me, it would make sense that next image will be loaded into GPU memory by actually DURATION and rendering the previous image would be preserved in memory as well. Also miss me some detail for the GPU acceleration settings - if it remains at the current level, rudimentary, (for me) the best compromise would be to disable the GPU acceleration to scroll through the photos, but using just to develop sliders.

I would want guus at Adobe to improve the product real, not just marketing slogans on the improvement of performance!

    kirillxxx wrote:

. My suggestion is simple enough - if the guys at Adobe can not program properly, the easiest would be (to make an option) to disable the GPU acceleration for image swithiching and just take his profit for the developer sliders.

You can not simply switch off to change the image. The image * should be loaded into the GPU, which is where the delay comes from. Even though you might think about what would happen: of course the image would change quickly, but then you would still wait before you can deal with.

For now the acceleration GPU in LR is very it is childhood: things first generation, and we are all good enough beta testers.

Some people are lucky: they love him and have no problem.

Some people are out of luck: it causes nothing but problems.

Some people like me are sitting on the fence: we have mixed experiences.

I don't think you threw $400, at some point (I live in optimism) questions will be fixed and LR will work on your system. He just had to wait. Isn't is funny, but you only need to take a casual look at any photography forum to see that there are problems with GPU acceleration and now is not the time to buy the latest and greatest card.

I've personally held off buying a new card to replace my aging one until I see that there is zero chance of all the problems of proof.

  • The GPU acceleration is grayed out in first and AE, but not in Media Encoder. However, the rendering is slow in all 3 programs.

    It worked fine in CS6.

Now, whenever I open a project (Pr or Ae) I get the message: this project has been modified used with accelerated by GPU rendering. This happens with all projects, even with those that I created in the Pr/Ae CC, with already disabled accelerated by GPU rendering.

In Media Encoder, the GPU acceleration is not grayed out, but still if I made a first sequence or model ae via ME, its very very slow. (takes 5 hours for a video that took 20 minutes in CS6)

    Any thoughts?

    Thank you, Daniel

I didn't have the time to post it yesterday, but you have found similar work around. What is happening is the decoding of earlier projects, or projects of the same version even sometimes won't boot the MPE of hardware engine. These files are cached and won't clear for this sequence until you delete the cache. 1 way to do is to replace the clips. The easiest is in the future change the EMT of the material to the MPE software and select delete the files from the cache when it invites. Then return to the MPE material and clear the cache again. That recreates the decoded files cache that often solves this problem.

  • SpeedGrade very slow on the GPU acceleration

My system has a nvidia gtx 590.

I have run triple monitors so I need two GPU (590 is an FYI double card)

When you run speedgrade in GPU acceleration even at 1/4 ground video is maybe 10-12 fps

the software only reads it in real-time to the ground full...

    I guess that's a multiple GPU issue?

a way to solve this problem?

I seem to have solved this... will post for those who seek in the future...

I used speedgrade mode dual monitor

the display of the desktop interface was on GPU 2 while the secondary output was on 1 GPU... speedgrade didn't like that

When I went to the office and secondary to GPU 1... everything worked fine. Can now read the full ground on the gpu acceleration

  • Lighroom 6.1 develop vs vs library export colors change with the GPU acceleration

Having managed to obtain the execution of acceleration GPU (with AMD Radeon 6800 on Windows 7) subsequently, I make a radical change in color between the library and develop modules.  The develop module shows a really cool picture.  This can be 'activated' on and outside by disabling GPU acceleration.  The library files and anyexported show a warmer image in comparison.

How can I fix it?  Anyone has any ideas - I had to disable the GPU at the moment... again...

Library and develop are color management and use the profile.  But they use it in different ways with different code (for example develop uses the GPU is not the case of library), so incompatibilities in the risk profile of stumbling one but not the other.

  • The GPU acceleration: all of a sudden is not available.

I went to Premiere Pro 2014 and now get this message:

This project changed was used with the Mercury Playback Engine (OpenCL) GPU acceleration which is not available or not certified on this system.

I use a card not certified on a Mac Pro 2009 (MB ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024), but he had always worked well in previous versions of Premiere Pro.

This average Adobe is no longer allows users to work with uncertified maps?

Never mind. I'm a fool. I forgot to remove the cuda_supported_cards.txt file in the contents of the package of the 2014 version. Duh.

  • The GPU acceleration seems to make no difference

I work with a timeline of a single layer and a single 60i AVCHD video. Whatever of acceleration GPU is enabled or not in the project settings, the timeline begins always choke move frames at the same time, several seconds into the clip. According to a counter, there is no difference in the use of the GPU during playback with gpu acceration both enabled and disabled. If I try to encode a sequence using h.264 in media encoding, the use of the gpu remains flat to zero. Scrub through the timeline is extremely agitated, no matter what settings I use. Am I missing something?

    Here are my system specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.1 GHz

    RAM: 4096 MB

    Graphics card: GTX 470 1280MB

Given the response of Todd, I would say the answer to evil is one.  Your Core 2 CPU is not powerful enough for these images.

  • SpeedGrade CC2014.2 disables the GPU acceleration

As said elsewhere, but this time in a PC, SpeedGrade's latest incarnation (CC 2014.2) GPU stops and gives the "lack of GPU resources' dialog box when according to GPUZ he only used 2 to 6% (Yes, it is two to six percent) of my GPU and 600 MB of the 4 GB of vRAM, I've got. No other program other than the operating system running... Manager tasks indicates less than 50% of the CPU to work, only about 6-8 GB of my 16 GB of RAM in use (Adobe apps together for up to 12 GB). So it's not as my system resources are in tatters, is it?

OS/programs on an SSD RAID 0 pair; files images and project on 2 TB internal of separate units, all on a flash SSD disk cache stuff in-house.

    Data sheet:

So far, but NONE of the Adobe apps used more than 25% of my GPU and always used 1 GB of video memory, it's ridiculous... sigh.

work to normal for me now. My first project sequences are 720 x 480-9 of them, one being the 1920 x 1080 as shown above.

I went back to first and reduced my sequence settings to match everything else. Why 720 x 480 is I do always 1920 x 1080 and this stage of a project is limited to SD, so I match all other media. I had ignored cutting a sequence so far.

I don't know if it was my dose, but Speedgrade working and leave my GPU in action now.
