try to install a printer Epson FX-880 on my new Windows 7 by using a printer cable converter. Port this USB as "unspecified device".

I am according to the support site for Windows 7 compatibility, this printer should install automatically.

When I right click the "unspecified device", there is no option to remove it. -Just "create shortcut", "Troubleshoot" (which is not a problem-same Mr. Fixit is not a problem) and "Properties".   Properties shows just like a USB bus controller.

When I try to install it as a local printer, the Epson drivers list does not show my model.  I tried to pick a couple of the printers listed, but nothing helped.

Any help will be appreciated

If it is a desktop computer you might want to try a serial port pci card, as the converters can be problomatic.

According to the win7 Compatibility Center, the driver is included in windows update, but unfortunately this info isn't accurate allways.
