Try to reformat my hard drive with Winodws XP

My laptop is messed up and need to reformat the hard drive on the laptop? How to get by doing this, without having to go to a computer store and pay for repair? I visit the site yesterday and clicked on something here and it downloaded a malware scanner and me out of most of the programs has now locked on the laptop that I have no other choice than to erase the hard drive and start over again. In addition, how can I go by checking if the product on the laptop code is correct and still good to use?

Hi Gvipercb,

·         You have your data backed up?

·         The laptop has been pre-installed with Windows XP?

If so, the product key should always hold good for resettlement.

Method 1: But first, we will launch the Microsoft Safety Scanner to scan the system. Check out the following link to do the same thing.

Microsoft Safety Scanner - free online tool for PC health and safety

You can also download and install Microsoft Security Essentials.

Method 2: If you want to reinstall the operating system, see the article mentioned. But make sure you have your data backed up.

    What is your purpose here? You want to reinstall Windows properly?

  • How to FORMAT my hard drive with a RECOVERY PARTITION and my system restore from. BKF files

    History made as short as possible.

    I inherited a gateway with XP Media Center 2004. I transferred all my old files to the new computer, and it worked fine. I did a full backup of the system (.) BKF). Later, I installed a disc for my Vivitar camera I used before with my old system and my computer crashed.

    I tried everything I know to do a restore. F8, F10 and F11 during start-up and the best I could come up with was the safe MODE, but it would fail to any ENTRY.

    I really feel like the hard disk must be formatted and start over. I can not access the recovery partition and no XP CD was provided.

    My question is: How can I reformat the hard drive with a petition of recovery and reinstall my operating system of BKF files?

    Hello

    I saw the 0x0000007B BSOD caused by trying to install XP on a disk hard while the BIOS is designating the reader as AHCI instead of IDE. XP has no native AHCI drivers, resulting in a stop 7B. Unless the PC had originally Vista or Win 7, but it might be useful to check that it is not likely.

    If the BIOS is set to AHCI, you could do one of three things (depending on whether your PC has a floppy drive)...

    1 find the Setup F6 disk on AHCI support at installation time (start with the manufacturer's website if you do not already have such a thing). Watch the very hit F6 prompt early in the installation process.

    2. change the setting in BIOS on IDE / ATA

    3. create a new "slipstreaming" installation disc drivers AHCI in the existing installation disc, see http://www.nliteos.com/index.html

    After the back if your BIOS is IDE / ATA

    No, at least not by us.

    Open a hard drive for some reason any at all can be done in special
    laboratory as parameters. Something else will destroy the disk.

    There are companies trying to recover data from broken disks,
    and they are sometimes successful. And who knows, maybe they
    sometimes use methods such as what you describe.

    But if you plan to use such a company, know what they
    are all very expensive. It does not for most people.

    For the future, if you have files you want to be sure are not
    lost, make sure to have in place a backup procedure on a regular basis the
    external media player.

  • Can't reformat the hard drive

    Hello I do not know much about computers.  I'm trying to find a way to reformat the hard drive on my son computer for a clean installation of XP Pro.  Initially, XP Pro SP1 has been installed on my IBM Thinkpad.  I have automatic updates must occur on the computer so over time, the service pack has been upgraded to SP3.  The corruption of the computer does not restore system, internet access and several programs running on the device.  When I try to format the hard disk with my XP Pro SP1 disk fails because the system is currently running SP3.  I tried to uninstall SP3, but the system does not.
    What do other options I have order of the reformat the system drive.

    Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Rrmay,

    Thanks for posting. If you try to reinstall XP you can put your OS drive on your computer, or use the OEM recovery media to reinstall XP.

    PERFORMING ONE OF THE FOLLOWING STEPS WILL ERASE ALL DATA IN CUSTODY: PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE A BACKUP BEFORE CONTINUING.

    The OEM recovery media format the computer and automatically return to the plant as if it was when you first it lit. If you have XP software at retail, you can do the following to format and reinstall.

    Method 1: Perform a clean install of Windows XP, a new installation is to remove all data from your hard disk by repartitioning and reformatting your hard disk and reinstall the operating system and programs empty (clean) hard disk. For more information about important things to consider before you partition and format your hard disk and how to partition and format your hard disk by using the Windows XP Setup program, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    313348 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313348/) how to partition and format a hard disk in Windows XP

    To perform a new installation of Windows XP, follow these steps:

    1. Back up all important information before you perform a new installation of Windows XP. Save the backup to an external location, such as a CD or external hard drive.
    2. Start your computer from the Windows XP CD. To do this, insert the Windows XP CD into your CD or DVD and then reboot your computer.

      Note To boot from the Windows XP CD, your computer BIOS settings must be configured to do this.

    3. When you see the message "Press any key to boot from CD", press any key to start the computer from the Windows XP CD.
    4. In the Welcome to Setup screen, press ENTER to start Windows XP Setup.
    5. Read the Microsoft software license agreement, and then press F8.
    6. Follow the instructions on the screen to select and format a partition where you want to install Windows XP.
    7. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation of Windows XP.

    I hope this helps! Let us know if you have any questions.

  • have 2 hard drives with different operating systems on them

    I'm upgrading. I took a hard drive from another pc. It has windows vista on it. Am using another hard drive with XP on it as a slave. But it does not recognize 2nd hard drive other than a shortcut that my friend created. I think it has to do with group policies in Vista? Or the 2 operating systems will not play nice with them? I can't reformat the drive until I get back to the top on them.

    Finally, I plan to each drive to reformat, but want to back up each drive, so I can't reformat now

    Do you not normally take a hard drive with an installed operating system, on a single computer and put it in another for a start of it.

    You can ask yourself all sorts of problems.

    Motherboard drivers are involved for each computer, they are installed.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    And there are rules of licensing:
    If your computer is pre-installed with Vista or if it was an OEM drive, that you bought, it is classified as an OEM license and is not transferable.
    The license of Vista OEM is related to the original computer it is installed on and dies with the computer.
    You cannot transfer it to another computer/laptop
    If a license of Vista at retail, you can transfer it to another computer/laptop.
    But it can only be installed on one computer at a time.
    .
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    There are a set of processes for dual-boot Vista and XP, if that's what you try to do.

    You will need to follow the link below:

    http://www.syschat.com/dual-boot-Vista-XP-Vista-already-1946.html

    If you mean something different from your message, try the Forum relating to data recovery Vista repair:

    Restore the previous settings, repair installations, recover data in.

    It is possible that your security (firewall, antivirus) software blocks or limit Firefox or the process of plugin-container without you inform, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.

    Delete all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container in the permissions list in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission to get full unlimited access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.

    See:

    You can also try a clean reinstall and remove the Firefox program folder.

    Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

    See "create a profile":

    If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile in the new profile, but be careful not to copy files corrupted to avoid transporting on the problem.
