Trying to reformatt Vista

OK, I'm trying to reformatt my old pc for 2 years with the same Vista Home Premium disk I'm origionally installed on my new pc.

My 250 GB hard drive was almost full. Nearly 20 concerts had left on it.

But when I go to reinstall "fresh" and click on the box that says my data will not be saved, which makes me think im going to do a full reformatt.

After going two times this route once windows is installed, I go to my computer just to find that I STILL just 20 concerts left free. I'm not sharing it somehow.

What I am doing wrong?

I tried to install vista service pack 1 and had no luck. I downloaded directly from Microsoft and installed. After waiting and waiting, my computer had restarted and said "changes in the Installation failure-recovery '. Now, the computer starts only in safe mode. I ran the check disk and the system started fine then. However, I turned off the computer after that and he returned only safe mode.

  • I just tried to download Vista SP1 on my count, he went through all the motions and now my computer is nothing but a black screen.

Very angry about this, until I tried to install this pack, my computer was working perfectly. Now, it seems that my entire system has been destroyed, and when I try to contact Microsoft, it seems that I have to pay $72 Australian, just to get him to talk to me. Seems hardly fair, that their pack which crashed my system. Someone has an idea of what he must do to either restore my system (without the use of disks to restart), or is anyone know how I can contact Microsoft without paying (since this is not a problem on my side). Any suggestion would be appreciated.  Regarding what happened, he went through the entire process of installation of the service pack, but when he stopped for the last time, the computer starts with a very simple beeps and then nothing, no white screen, no warning, no prompt, nothing.

    Will need you the DVD

  • TRIED TO INSTALL VISTA SP1 NOW I'M DEAD IN THE WATER

I am running Vista Home Premium 32-bit on a Dell desktop computer. A month ago, I came across a few major problems with my computer.  I couldn't get out of safe mode, programs are not run properly, blah, blah.  With a lot of help, I finally could get all back to what I thought was normal.  I ran antispyware, antimalware & and with other tweeks & fixed I have not noticed problems for about a week.

So last night while on the computer, I got the message that Windows is ready to install an important update.  It was SP1.  I usually wait until the middle of the night & let Windows automatically install the updates but I thought why wait, then I started the installation.  He said that it could take several hours, I went to bed and I forgot about it.

This morning I wake up to see that the monitor is all black except for a single line of printing:
    !! 0xc01a001d! 37354/98242 (\Registry\Machine\components\derivedata...)

This printing line flickered sort of as he wants, but he was stuck.  I failed to continue or stop so I finally did what was once called an illegal arrest... I don't know if there is a new term for this, but I think you know what I mean.  When I turned my computer back on, I got the message that something caused my computer do not close properly, perhaps a new program or software, and he suggested that I have let Windows find & try to fix the problems.  I clicked on that and the blue bar began to run through the progress window.  He says that it can take several minutes.  Well 2 hours later nothing had changed.  He was always doing exactly the same thing.  He wouldn't let me cancel so I let it run half an hour.  Then I finally made another "illegal stop."  When I turned the computer back on I chose normal startup to the top even if the computer suggested I have start the repair program.

Now I know whence the line of print that I mentioned before.  The screen was black except that it begins to show all the things that are installed on the computer.  At least, I guess that's what it is.  It was like when your computer is running antispyware or something & all files are being checked.  In any case, it's exactly the same thing that what I pointed out, it was on my computer first thing this morning except that it stopped at 28599/98242.  He has not moved or changed except it flashes as he wants to spend but cannot.

What is the cause & do - what do I do about it?  Trying to do a system repair did not work & I can't get the computer starts normally then now what?  SP1 is installed on our laptop with no problems.  The only difference is that I let it install automatically.

Please help before I have eventually throw the top of desk by the window!

    Sandee

    Sandee,

    David advice was correct.

Read all the info on the link below.

You need to download the ISO file, I talked to the computer on which you post here, not the broken one!

It is a repair disc you need to do from this ISO file:

As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.

If yours falls into the category above, download the ISO on the link provided and make a bootdisk of it.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.

Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.

    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/

It's a very good Vista repair disc.
You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
There is not a disk of resettlement.

And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
