Tungsten E won't hot synch

I looked on here you have about this problem and am a little lost. I don't know if my you have bluetooth or not: I use it only for the docs and the techniques of reading (not ' puter tech unfortunately) ebooks. The software installed OK on my Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit machine, but I can't seem to hot synch at all. (I'm wondering if Palm Desktop running in XP compatibility mode could help?) My PC doesn't have bluetooth listed under properties. I don't know how to check the TE of the bluetooth capabilities. The message I get trying to hot synch is:

"The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your configuration and try again. »

(That I have several times, without success.) Even Palm Desktop can't find the USB (Com 1), although I'm assured continuous it will be 'as soon as it is available"(Wha -?) ... I'm not particularly ' puter smart, but it seems that without the Bluetooth on my PC, I might be out of luck? Say it isn't so! (Took me forever to learn my way around this old TE...) Win 7 has yet to do me a favor, either. Impossible to install anything without hassle.)

Thanks in advance for any help you can send me here.

Congratulations!

As long as the other T. E has a different name from HotSync, it should be a piece of cake.  Just do a HotSync and the account must be configured automatically.  (You certainly don't want two devices with the same name of account of HotSync - recipe for disaster.)

  • AT & T Centro crashes when hot Synch

Using a Centro for AT & T, the age of 11 months (still under warranty for a few weeks), WIN XP Pro, USB synchronization, Software Desktop version 6.2.2 synchronization process always freezes (for two weeks) to synchronization of the agenda.  I've been waiting for hours, and it never ends, or gives me error messages.  HotSync log provides no clue.  Both the office and the Centro show the hot synch happening, he just never completed the agenda or gets any more in the process.  I do not use e-mail or internet functions on my Centro, just the phone and desktop applications.

I did a complete uninstall and re-setup (including registry changes) several times, and always get the same frustrating results.

I checked that I downloaded as the latest version of desktop (6.2.2) software and have the same problem.

I tried another computer, same results.

I brought changes to the settings in the synchronization program hot say things to ignore (do nothing) to the calendar program, but he is always trying to sync the calendar every time, and fails at the same place ("synchronization schedule, 10 2") is the last message active I see before the frost.

I tried the resets of soft, same results.

In the middle of this process to two weeks, my hard drive on my main computer died and was replaced, but accordingly, I lost my original Palm folder, so now all I have is on the Centro himself.

I have never had any such problems over the past 12 years, as a user of Plam, so I guess I got lucky based on what I read on this forum.

Is there something that I have not tried that can run, short of a hard reset, which would cost me more than five years of data (a user since 1996 Palm, Palm, Handspring Visor, Palm Vx and now the Centro)?

    Thanks for your time.

Hello..  Something is strange if its still trying to sync calendar.  Download dbfixit and the game to install through Installer and go to settings-applications and go to each pipe and set it to not do anything set up and check the box to set default.  Then the sync which should install dbfixit.  Then run it and fix the errors and run it again until you get no error found. Once all errors have been corrected back to lines and light only Agenda and let it sync, give it some time, but he should finish it in 3 or 4 minutes once hits are book.  If it is successful, then turn on other lines and synchronize.  Remember not to put any return default synchronization for the final synchronization.  Give that a try and let me know what happens.

Hello and thank you for using the Palm Help Forums!

Go through the same own instructions to uninstall again. If you need I can give them. After you are done try to install the version of Palm Desktop 4.1.4e and see if you get the same results. It is recommended if you are using XP, keep the software 4 x. Palm Desktop 6.2 was built mainly for Vista. Here is a link to the software 4.1.4e: http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/, /? • Hot synch does not illuminate

I have a Palm Centro (Verizon).  While making a hot sync my computer screen are cleared.  I had to unplug & remove the battery to restart my computer.  When I open Palm Desktop, my data were there except my contacts.  My phone still has the list of contacts as well as everything else.  The know-how of problem is Hot Synch will not open and I get an error message saying "Hot Synch Manager had to close, I want to send an error report.  When I go to program files, Palm, sync - the same message appears.  Don't know what happened or how to get hot synch switched back.  I tried to uninstall all software and reinstall, but nothing works.  Even did a restore of the computer, but nothing.  Any help would be appreciated.

OK, it seems that your appointment has corruption. When it "hangs" on a lead PIM, it is usually caused by corruption, the blobs in the calendar, records without data that was there at some point in time.

There may be the database at the source of the problem. Click on the following link for the program called DbFixiT. This program has a trial version that you can download and install on your Palm OS device. The trial version will search the database and then to declare the corruption. You can then search records at the origin of the problem and fix them yourself or you can buy the program and do it automatically repair records.

    http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm

When you install the program, set the conduit for appointments to do nothing. Run the trial version and it will show the corrupt files. You can then challenge the records manually or buy the program and take the database for you. The program is only $12.95 but is invaluable when it comes to repairing the database. You must also run the analysis to the blobs of calendar.

After the repair of the database on the Centro, defined lines in hotsync manager for handheld overrides desktop.

  • CUSTOM FOR HOT SYNCH SETTINGS

I recently had to erase everything on my treo 650 and I backed up by changing the settings in the custom hot synch to say just use the info desktop to substitute the other info.   It's been about 2 weeks now and I want to sync again, but I don't want to use the settings of the substitution of office use, I want to synchronize the two (or even just use my treo as a master). However, when I go into HOT SYNCH on palm desktop, all under hot synch options are grayed out. I don't want to sync because I'm afraid that it will use the info on the desktop, which is not as up-to-date as the one on the phone.  Am I missing something?

  • Hot synch

I use my tungsten E 2, a few days after hot syncing I lost my contact & tasks, please help me & let me know the procedure to restore the same

    Sanjay jegou

You're past Palm Desktop and the device of data? Do you Hotsync more then once? See this procedure to recover data if you synced not more once with your Palm DT.

You can recover data from your user folder as long as you only Sync once with the PC when you discovered the missing data. When synchronize you with the PC there are files created for each category of PIM in your user folder. For example; datebook.dat or appointment (according to the version of Palm Desktop) and datebook.bak. 6.2 file names are .mdb and mdb.bak. 6.2, the files are in the folder of user name in PalmOSdesktop in my documents.

The files are named .dat and .bak. When you synchronize, the current data is stored in. dat. The next time that you synchronize the data in the .dat file is copied to the .bak file. You can rename the .dat to .old. then rename the .bak to dat. If the data in the .bak file is intact, it will now be in palm desktop when you reopen Palm desktop. I have included a link to show you how to find the userfolder on the PC.

    http://www.Palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?id=26674

    Here's another link about the loss of data;

    http://www.Palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?id=39503

The best way to backup your data is to use the export function in Palm Desktop. Create a new folder on the desktop named Palm Desktop Backup data. Then, select the category that you want to export. You will get a window asking you where you want to save the file, save it in the folder created on the desktop. There is a button that allows you to select the record currently selected, or all, select all. If you do not select all, only the highlighted record is exported. You will need to name the file for export then I suggest the name of the category, for example: calendar (with the current date). Do this for all the essential data in each category. With the data exported to the folder on the desktop of the computer, you can save this data to a flash drive, external hard drive or a CD - RW. With this method, you will have your data in a separate place than Palm desktop and the device. If 'Lose you' data again, you can import the data back into palm desktop.

Make sure that when you make changes in palm desktop or the device to export data to the folder created for the backup.

    Here is a link for other options for backing up your data;

  • HOt sync - Tungsten E2 for Vista

I had hot, synchronization successfully for some time, although often when I turn on my laptop Vista out, the dates on the calendar disappear.  But as long as I could hot sync with my handheld, it was a minor inconvenience.  But now, apparently, something's wrong with my Pocket PC, because it won't hot sync on my Vista laptop or on our XP desktop (which we used to do).   He gets to the extent of the '2' on the date of transfer of book and then freezes.  When I cancel, also well on the computer and your handheld, it freezes and I have to turn both of them off the coast.  I tried a warm reboot, then a partial hard reset without success.  I hesitate to do a hard reset because I have years of dates on my handheld it is essential to keep.  I'm not aware that I changed the settings on the handheld when it used to work. What can I do?

I don't know what happened, but when I went in Palm Desktop, this time, my schedule is back!

Thank God!   Maybe the dbfix doing something after all.   Thanks for your help.

Hello and welcome to the Community Forums of Palm.

Palm Desktop 6.2 is not a "patch".  It's a brand new version of Palm Desktop which was published in order to provide users with a Vista compatible version.  I know that this is apparently now the version listed by Palm for XP users, but there is no real reason to use it on the version shipped with your E2.

What you probably need is just the conduit for Outlook 2007:
