Tunnel VPN RV-042 for Dual WAN Failover backup function

We have customers with dual WAN failover scenarios with site-to-site VPN tunnels.

In the past, the VPN tunnel backup feature has been available in the RV-082.

One of the new RV-042 firmware versions have the function of backup Tunnel VPN available?

The feature is supported on the RV042 V3 hardware.

  • ISA570 Weighted Dual Wan & Failover

So, we had a few problems here while we were both WITH link failover detection two ISPs for balancing.  Our problems seemed if go away once we have disabled the link failover.  What is happening is a wan link out randomly, it was not a particular wan link.  We could have one out one day and another on another day. I thought I would post to see if anyone knows or had problems with doing a 50-50 balanced weighted load scenario with the failover link light.  Now, with the recovery of disabled link, it seems that if a wan link goes down, computers are always sent on this bad wan link.

I did a combination of the two in deployments. Most of them is connections of failover with low cost connection primary and secondary connections of 4 G of type variable cost. I have not had any problems with load balancing and failover work together, but I can not also think all instances where he arrived so I can't be certain that he would not fail. ;-) If please try DNS and let me know if you experience the same results. If If, I would open a TAC case if Cisco can try to locate the bug, assuming that there is one at this time. Please keep me dated with your results. Thank you.

  • RV082, Dual Wan, VPN + protocol bindings

    Hi all

I have this kind of Setup and I can't figure out how to think this router.

My Installer uses Dual Wan load balancing mode. I only need one VPN tunnel. High availability is my concern.

Site 1 has fiber and Cable

    Site 2A cable and FTTN

Each ISP provides a static IP

VPN works very well in the event of failure. I am always disappointed that it works in the case where a single primary WAN breaks, but is not operational if primary WAN on Site 1 stops at the same time secondary Site WAN 2 stops. It is very rare but can happen.

In any case, my problems are where I need binding protocol to ensure secure WEB (https, banking, portal provider) sessions.

I bind, at the least, port 443 to my primary WAN. In this way, I can access the Web sites and keep me logged.

So, if I browse a HTTPS across the VPN server, binding protocol always attempts to pass port 443 by the WAN1. He will not even consider the VPN as a valid route first.

(Maybe) can problem I reduce Hop Count for Site 2 less than 35?     P.S. I replaced the addresses I don't think they are relevant.

Destination IP Subnet mask Default gateway Number of hops Interface
    ADDR network WAN2 255.255.255.252 * 0 eth2
    WAN1 network addr 255.255.255.248 * 0 eth1
    Site 2 255.255.255.0 Site 1 fiber Gateway 35 eth1
    Site 1 255.255.255.0 * 0 eth0
    by default 0.0.0.0 Site 1 fiber WAN1 15 eth1
    by default 0.0.0.0 Site 1 cable WAN2 40 eth2
    by default 0.0.0.0 Site 1 fiber WAN1 40 eth1

    Thank you all,

    Bruno

I would like to conclude this is a bug and requires further investigation. I wouldn't call it a limitation if it was my decision (not that I have so much importance in this regard)

  • RV042 v3 & RV082 v3: WAN Failover + restore VPN

    We have a v3 RV082 and RV042 v3 with latest firmware.

They have all two Dual WAN (backup active Smartlink).

They connect with each other via the VPN (with VPN enabled and configured backup Tunnel).

When primary internet (WAN1) fails, and it switches to the internet backup (WAN2),

We have to manually replace the VPN of WAN1 WAN2 interface to restore

    the VPN tunnel.

We tried to create a second instance of VPN using WAN2, however it will not save

due to a conflict of network with VPN original (even if we move the destination VPN

IP and VPN backup tunnel IP).  I imagine that the conflict is the destination network.

How do we automate the VPN interface change an outage of the internet?

Or about what work can be done to ensure the VPN is restored after a

failover of the Internet (WAN interface change).

To address scenarios, you need the two operating sites in the double-wan load-balancing mode. The main tunnel is formed with two interfaces WAN1 and the backup tunnel is formed with two interfaces to WAN2.

    Jesse,

One of the solutions to your problem is to apply the same for both interfaces crypto card and have the two counterparts mentioned under a crypto map entry.

Since you're using track/IP SLA to activate a single link to a single IP address of time will be answers.

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/security/ASA/asa84/command/reference/C5.html#wp2278871

Have several inputs card crypto with the same statement in game will cause problems.

    Hope that makes sense.

  • SonicWALL VPN WAN failover

Hello guys. I need to do it quickly for a customer. They have the following topology. Not real Ip addresses but it's their configuration.

    http://i.imgur.com/lFSTBeV.jpg?1

Basically, they have this race. So what I have to do?

Well now if the MPLS link fails. They need to change it manually to the VPN. So I need to find a solution to the socket on the MPLS VPN after a failure.

    I read this Sonicwall KB.

    https://support.software.Dell.com/kb/sw8445

I think is what I need. However I do not understand something. In this step you create a traffic from track to track static to the target of the probe. (Network > routing). I don't see where they create the VPN static route. They create the road MPLS but where is the 'static route Floating' they missed a step? Part weirdst in this article, is that the backup VPN is a policy based. I can't change the metric in this type of VPN. I missed something?

My other idea was to OSPF configuration, but let me know which is the best solution?

    Thank you

OK, placing the tunnel VPN site to site "tunnel interface" mode will allow you to create a route for the VPN traffic.

This will give you 2 routes created manually, one for MPLS one for the VPN.

You can then use probes to disable MPLS route when the probe fails causing the VPN route to support until the SPLM is back.

  • Is availble for IPsec VPN FOS 6.3 support stateful failover

Is availble for IPsec VPN FOS 6.3 support stateful failover

    SAJ

    Hello Saj,

Unfortunately not... stateful failover replica information such as:

Table of connection TCP, udp xlate table ports, h.323, PAT port allocation table...

    they replicate data such as:

    user authentication (uauth) table

    Table ISAKMP / IPSEC SA

    ARP table

    Routing information

Therefore, in the case where the main breaks down, the IPSEC vpn will be reformed for the failover... Meanwhile, the user will not be able to access the applications...

I hope this helps... all the best... the rate of responses if deemed useful...

Hi im new in dual wan configuration. Help, please.

1 router is connect to lrt224 to serve wifi and my switch also plugin for wifi wireless

Sometimes cctv camera released to public ip address when the wan2 switch but sometimes cannot show also
All around, with 1 wan dynamic as primary

    Hi @engkanto.net,.

I agree with the suggestions. It is best to connect the IP camera to one of the LRT224 router's Ethernet ports. Then you must configure the Port Forwarding or Port Address Translation If you have more than one camera using the same internal port.

    Thank you.

  • PPTP VPN or IPSEC for Android and iPAD

Being new on the RV180 (and routers VPN besides) I had trouble getting a VPN's, supporting my iPad and Android devices. However, I understand that an IPSEC connection would be a safer sollution. Unfortunately I can't find a clear statement anywhere to do it.

I found descriptions/parameters in the different RV180 of the setting of the (few) in mobile platforms. So far not managed to get the installation program.

Little help to start would be great!

    Thank you very much.

    Ronald

    Hello Robert.

My name is Chris and I work at the Cisco Small Business Support Center.

The PPTP option will be much easier to install, and most devices have a built-in capability of PPTP.

The RV180 supports the IPSEC tunnels, but only for links from site to site or a remote user with the client software.  Some of the other features of our support SSL VPN connections, which would allow you to use the Cisco Anyconnect client available for android, but SSL VPN is not a characteristic of the RV180.

On my Android (Droid X running Android 2.3.4) phone he built in VPN, IPSEC and PPTP client.  Yours is probably as well, but if not there should be a few apps available.

If you decide to go with PPTP you can configure it like this on the RV180:

    1. go to the router admin page and click on VPN > IPsec > VPN users.

    2. check the box to enable the PPTP server.

    3. complete the range of internal addresses for your customers to use PPTP (192.168.1.200 - 192.168.1.210 for example)

    4. click on save.

    5. Once you click on save, you should be able to edit the table of parameters of VPN client.

    6. click on add, check enabled, enter a user name and password for the PPTP user to use and for the protocol type, select PPTP.

    7. click Save to add the user.

Once this is done, you should be able to go into the settings on your Android device and add a VPN for PPTP connection.   Fill in the same information you setup of the RV180 and you should be able to connect.

The server address will be the WAN IP of your RV180.

As far as IPSEC goes, the process is similar but a little more complicated.

    1. on the router admin page go to VPN > IPsec > Basic VPN configuration.

    2. choose the VPN client for peer type.

    3. name connection (it is used on the router)

    4. choose a pre-shared key to be used with this connection.

    5. for remote WAN IP address, you can leave the default remote.com

    6. for the Local gateway Type, you'll want to choose IP

    7. to Local WAN IP select IP and enter the IP address of the RV180 (WAN IP)

    8. for LAN Local, enter the local network for the RV180 ID (default is 192.168.1.0)

    9. to the Local LAN subnet mask enter 255.255.255.0

    10. click on save.

The steps above create a VPN IPSec tunnel using the default values of the router, which you can view by clicking on default settings under VPN > IPSEC.

Now you just set your phone.  On my phone, I have an option for Advanced IPSEC VPN, but yours may be different, or you may need to use an application like a customer, if your phone does not have built-in IPSEC VPN.

On my Droid X, I want to go wireless and networks, VPN settings, Advanced IPSEC VPN, add a new virtual private network.

My phone uses models of connection, so be sure to choose one that fits your tunnel on the RV180 parameters.

Enter the RV180 WAN IP address as the VPN server, as well as the pre-shared key, install you on the RV180.

Make sure that all connection settings that you have configured on the RV180.

You will also be asked for an internal subnet IP address, and for this, you must enter the Local LAN and subnet mask, that you configured on the RV180 in steps 8 and 9 above.

I wish I could be more specific, but it seems that there are several different menus and options depending on what Android phone using your.

I hope that this helps, but if not feel free to respond and I'll try to explain.

  • Tunnel VPN site to Site with 2 routers Cisco 1921

    Hi all

So OK, I'm stumped. I create much s2s vpn tunnels before, but this one I just can't go there. It's just a tunnel VPN Site to Site simple using pre-shared keys. I would appreciate it if someone could take a look at our configs for both routers running and provide a comment. This is the configuration for both routers running. Thank you!

When the GRE tunnel carries your traffic to private ip range, your ACL must contain address of the host of point to point the IPSec tunnel.

Since then, both routers are running EIGRP in the corporate network, let the EIGRP Exchange routes via GRE tunnel, which is a good practice, rather than push the ip ranges private individual through the IPSec tunnel.

Let me know, if that's what you want.

    Thank you

  • Number of tunnel VPN LRT224

    Hello!

I trying to get the LRT224 and need to understand something before you buy it:

Manual user said it supports 50 VPN tunnels, but in the demo of the user Web interface, I can see PPTP 45 + 5 + 5 OpenVPN EasyLink - how these add up?

In addition, these numbers limit the simultaneous number of tunnels or VPN accounts? For example can I have 10 accounts Easy Link (Open VPN) created and use only 3 of them at the same time, for example?

    Thank you very much!

Hello, Amalakhov! These are the VPN router features:

-50 via IPsec Site to Site tunnels
-5 (compatible with OpenVPN) SSL tunnels
    -5 PPTP tunnels
    -IPsec 110 Mbps throughput
    -12 Mbps SSL throughput

The maximum number of concurrent VPN connections through the router depends on the flow of IPSec. Your connection will be sacrificed if you would connect more than 5 tunnels at the same time.

Hello. I'm creating a tunnel VPN IPSec LAN - to - LAN of my ASA5510 to another network but met an obstacle bit. My counterpart on the other side has informed me that he already has a VPN tunnel to another company that has the same IP range as my network(10.100.16.0 /24) and can not create the tunnel.

I was wondering is it possible to use NAT on the VPN tunnel so that traffic that goes from my network over the VPN tunnel gets translated and my counterpart on the other side sees this reflects the range of IP addresses?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello

Yes, you can use the same address you already use for internet access.

Just update your list of access crypto to reflect the new address and to ensure that the third party did the same.

  • Dual WAN router and protocol binding

Hello! I'm trying to find a dual WAN router with support VPN, which allow me to redirect part of the traffic to a specific port WAN and balancing of this specific traffic in the case of this WAN failure (the latter is preferred but is not entirely necessary) load.

RV042/G could help me with this? In this case, allow redirection Protocol only? What port/ip forwarding? Or some sort of filtering of packets to redirect to specific WAN ports?

Maybe I need another router in the conduct of business?

    Thanks in advance!

Hi Jose, RV0XX model (g) supports a protocol source LAN link to extended network destination set. It can be a host of high-end LAN or a single host LAN. It may be the customer service or all services. In the case of a failure of network SCOPE, all links in the Protocol are "ignored" and switch to the active WAN until normal operation is restored.

  • Bring up the tunnel vpn crypto without interesting traffic map

Is it possible on ASA to bring up the tunnel vpn site to site static crypto map without generating interesting traffic? I want to reverse route injection generate road dynamic until traffic begins to flow.

    Roman,

Unless something chnaged recently RRI inserts routes without present SAs, meaning that they are static (in contrast to current default behavior on IOS 12.4 (9) T-I_think leave).

But to answer the question, in more recent versions, you can bring up the tunnel using packet - trace CLI.

    M.

Edit: request for improvement that will present the same features of IPP on ASA as on IOS:
