  I use a HP Envy (Windows 7, etc.), a year or so old, but I just did a reset complete system - a few days ago. It is therefore running (approximately) on the parameters of the box.

  However, I have problems by changing the settings of the active title bar for programs that do not have their own settings of active title bar (think Windows Explorer vs Google Chrome). This has caused some problems, especially for things like Mathematica, where the menu under the title bar is screwed up. More important still, it seems just ugly.

  Unfortunately, go into the settings of customization (including advanced settings) in Control Panel does not work. In fact, the parameters are essentially the value by default and cannot not even match at the exit. It is quite confusing.

  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if I can provide more information on the parameters, specifications, etc.

  You may or may not need to change the BIOS settings.  Assuming that you have a bootable CD with this tool, put it in your CD drive and restart the computer.  One of the 3 things will happen:

  1. the computer starts from the CD and you can follow all instructions you have Symantec.

  2 watching very carefully that the computer starts.  You may see a message that says something like "press any key to boot from the CD-ROM.  If you see this message, press a key (for example, the space bar) and the computer boots from the CD.

  3. watch very carefully that the computer starts.  You will see a message that says something like, "to change settings, press F1."  The key that you press on will be different depending on your particular computer.  It might be F1 or F10 or del key.  Whatever it is, press this button and you will enter the BIOS configuration utility.  From there, you can change the boot order to CD first.  Directions to navigate the BIOS Setup will be displayed on the screen, but they will involve using the button tab, enter, and arrow keys, because your mouse does not work in this utility.

The problem is that on the siides where the PlayBar is hidden (assign cpcmdShowPlaybar = 0), there is a band of colorful at the bottom of the screen (where the playback bar would have been had visibility been lit), I don't want to have.

  No way to change the resolution of the project at halfway, that is what you want: reduce the height when there is no playback bar. Would look funny too.   You may be able to find a third party extension that can do the job, but my advice would be NOT to install this software.

  Looks like you have changed the default structure applications (or created your own custom applications) to get to this format? Note that in FM8 DITA, the book's release is controlled by the application of 'Book' and the formatting in the design view is controlled by the application of the "topic".   I had to put the connected to the account of "Allow user to administer this computer" in users and groups then went to Mail and set default Outlook.  After the e-mail saved the default and then I removed the checkbox "Allow user to administer this computer" (two reboots) but saved the day when administrator.  Seems there should be an easier way, but it worked for me...
