two admin accounts

I was asked a technician to type the following command-

NET user administrator / Active: Yes

This created a new account admin with elevated privileges and now there is only the possibility to delete my account of 'David' original with no option to delete or change the type of the new account, even tried logging in on two accounts of account but can only change my account "David."

Additional note:

dsykes72,

Keep the built-in Administrator account.
Give him a password secure (keep a written record of the password and not to lose).
Use this account for emergencies only.
This way, you'll be NEVE get locked out of your computer in the event that an admin account is corrupted...

It is more preferable to have 2 Administrator accounts, for the same reason.

  • Corrupt admin account, now I can't do anything.

so this problem started when my computer crashed when I was playing a game so I'll restart my computer, so I get to the login screen and I click on my account sign in ect, but when I do I get this error service user profile service does not have the connection. That account was the only Admin account on my pc so I'm going on my guest account to hope to find a solution, so I watch this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEyxD6ZG-jI) I get to a point where you rename the profile list things and I can't, I get an error renaming key. After seeing this error I am trying to find a solution for that as well and I see that I must run regedit as admin, but when I do it says that Regedit.exe is not found so I decided to try it this way, I find another where you copy your files from the user to another one and then I try to open my folder of the user of the admin account and I can't use the word of past admin to get in as I type right, I do everything and the dosent work admin. So I try and see if admin password works on aything else and it will not work. I think my sali corrupt admin account with the password pls help as im stuck.

This account is the only admin account on my pc

-> Big mistake. You should always have at least two admin accounts, even you have at least two keys of the House and for the same reason.

It is said that Regedit.exe is not found

-> The file is located in the folder c:\Windows\System32. You see it there?

You copy your files from the user in another

-> Another what? Can be a little more specific?

You should now use your repair Windows CD to start the computer in Windows Repair Mode, and then use the system restore to set Windows in a few days. If you do not have such a CD, ask a friend to burn you through the control panel / backup and restore. It is absolutely essential if you are maintaining your own PC.

  • 'Creative cloud' is working on a new admin account but not not in old account admin

    Hey community,.

As my "Adobe Creative Cloud" was no longer working (not able to connect) on my old admin account.

Adobe told me to create a new admin on 'El Capitan' account.

Working on the new creative cloud account.

(Adobe told me that there is a configuration problem on the old account)

    I would like to know

    • How can I detect what's the difference in configuration between the two account?
      or
    • How can I migrate all the settings and my old account to the new facilities?

    Purpose:
I have a different software on my old account that I use for my work; VMware Fusion 8, different browsers, printer software, tools etc.)

    And also the settings...

(I obviously don't want to use my old account for everything and have to switch to the new account just for the creative cloud...)

    Plan:

I can either migrate all the settings from the old account to the new or detect the problem in configuration in my old account.

    Kind regards

For the full backup used Carbonite - due erase hard drive and reinstall XP - carbonite cust. veeeeery slooooow service and I had to use the laptop for the preparatory work.  When the backup has been restored, he implemented the administrative account of origin, besides I have created a new.  Now, most of the files are under the old administrative account, and I need to move the OLD files in the NEW Admin account.

Would sincerely appreciate your very specific instructions? ... step by step, if possible? Not quite a prolific technician, but no slouch, not more.

You can't really merge two accounts. You can copy data from one account to the other. Folder options > view tab > check "Show hidden files". Then go to:

c:\Documents and Settings\name of the old account and copy the files to My Documents, desktop, Favorites in folders in your new user account. When you have all your stuff, you can delete the old user account from the control panel > user accounts. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Stuck on the admin account, password seems to have been changed after my dell frozen

I am the administrator of my computer and am stuck on my account, the password changed one day a few weeks ago after my computer froze for about 15 minutes. I was the admin acct, after he defrost it worked very well. I was stopped for the night and when I tried to connect the am password no longer works. I'm able to get in the other two accounts on the computer, but I can't let anything like that or system restore because I need the admin password.  I have a lot of music and pictures here and I really don't want to lose all of it.

Provided if you have a Vista DVD disc or repairs.
If you do, use this tutorial

    Excerpt:
    Important note...
This works in cases where you changed your password to something new and then has forgotten or deleted a user account by accident. So that this works, there must be a restore point from the system during which logging has managed for the account of the problem. In addition, this isn't a problem if you are in a domain environment because the domain administrator can always reset your password.

  • Combining programs, files, folders, etc from two user accounts has a handset (i.e. administrative)

    Hello

When I transferred files and folders, etc from my old computer to my new one, it divided them in two user accounts, which is the administrator (apparently I got the documents under two users on my old computer but didn't). The problem is now I have to go back between the two accounts to show different things. I would like to know if there is a way to combine everything that the two user accounts into one, preferably the administrator account. Does anyone know of a way to do this?

    Thank you.

    Hello

1 from your ADMIN account making another account with the same password - give him ADMIN -.
It's your safety valve and test and difficulty. Always keep a handy unused Admin account.

Now, from your ADMIN account, you can access the user folders in the other USER account.
Use start - computer or Windows Explorer to access your USER account - then copy the
the data of its foldes in the same folders on your ADMIN account work (only data - not)
programs). Do not copy on the data files of your ADMIN account USER account
something similar as Document there are files with the same names, yet who have different
content - if existing ones rename the files in the files of the USER before completing the copy.

    C:\USERS\YourUserAccount\Documents\ copy

    C:\USERS\YourAdminAccount\Documents\

Be careful to not to overwrite files with the same name (copy will warn you).

Repeat with the other data files.

The process is similar to migrating from a damaged account - just pretend for the USER account
is corrupted and migrate towards your work account ADMIN as here:

  • I now have a hidden admin account on my second windows. Can I use it to connect to my old windows

    original title: passwor

I have two windows installed on my laptop. Both are windows vista. I could not log on to the windows of the first, because it does not accept my password, even if my password is correct. Then I installed windows again, but did not remove the old windows.

My question is: I now have a hidden admin account on my second windows.

Can I use it to connect to my old windows. The old windows is stored in a separate file. I'm the only Admin and the only user.

    Hello

You will not be able to use the old profile, but the hidden administrator account is activated, you may be able to access files and folders in this account that you have not deleted the profile.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Admin account locked out

Something strange is happening with my Windows 7. We had two accounts of users out there: mine (which was also the Admin account) and my wife. None of these accounts had a password. (Perhaps not a good idea, but no one else uses your computer.)

Last night, my wife was not appear on the display of connection opening, but there was an empty profile called "user". When I connected who and entered in the user account of my wife, he let connect us.

I went to users to see if I could see what was going on and I don't know how it happened, but the next thing I knew, without entering anything at all, he said that there is a password on my Admin account.

Then I logged back on job connect screen, now my wife account appears and there is only the 'User' profile Virgin appeared to me. If I log in it and enter my username, it asks for a password - password that I never created and therefore do not know. So now I'm stuck on the Admin account to my computer.

Is there something I can do?

There are two things you can do:

    • Restart your machine in Repair Mode, with your CD to repair Windows, then use system restore to set Windows to a point before your problems began.
    • Plan ahead. Have a single administrator account involves some obvious risks. You must have two accounts admin fully tested, with their details recorded on paper.

Post again if you want more details.

  • Only the user is a Standard user, how do I get an admin account?

    Hello

    Windows 7 Pro

When I set up this new computer, I created the main account as a standard user. Bad move. Now when I try to make changes, I invited him UAC with an inactive "Yes" button. It is said to enter an administrator password - it is not one that I know. I'm not able to use the cmd as administrator either. I have to reinstall Windows to fix this? I tried several suggestions that I found on the web (safe mode, etc.) and nothing gets done by the UAC.

    Thank you!

    OT:

Only the user is a Standard user,

Sorry, I have reflected on something else when I wrote 'choice 4 '.

First, note the comment at the top of the page I linked to:

Theoretically if you do not have an administrator account, the built-in Administrator account should be available in safe mode (see also related articles). For any identified reason, the built-in Administrator sometimes to be unavailable in safe mode.

So, the first thing to do is to reboot safe mode and see if the built-in Administrator account is here.  I will not delete my Admin accounts to test this situation.

Assuming that the built-in Administrator account is NOT available in Mode safe...

The link I gave you, the two method I (32-bit only) and method II require you to "open a command prompt at startup" and give a link for directions to do so.  If you go to this link, there is a 'Option One' which uses the installation of Win 7 disc and a 'Option 2' that tells you to use the menu of Boot Options to boot into "Safe Mode with command prompt."

However, Safe Mode with command prompt not automatically you will get an account with computer administrator privileges, and I suspect that you will not be able to make registry changes suggested that way, despite the generally good reputation of sevenforums.com.   So, use the Windows 7 installation DVD to display the "System Recovery Options" and then select "Command Prompt" there.

Assuming that you do not receive the built-in administrator enabled account, log in, create a new account and give administrator privileges.  If you intend to use this account for anything other answering the UAC guests, create a second administrator account, "just in case."

Finally, open an elevated command prompt (right click > run as administrator) and use the following command to disable the built-in Administrator account:

NET user administrator / active: No.
