Two operating systems on PC with Windows7

I have new PC running windows 7 Home premium. I can load XP pro to run as a dual operating system with windows 7?   Any help is appreciated?

Thank you, racer20

Racer, Yes, you can do a dual boot with Win7 and XP Pro.  However, it can be a little difficult to find drivers for your components.  I run a dual-boot system for several years.  I did it both ways; a single drive hard and two partitions of two separate hard drives.  I recommend two hard drives.  This way, you have an operating system if a hard drive fails.

Here's a guide to help you.

    Hi Bhaisona

    1. do you have a new or different XP pro drive?
    2. the new drive has a different product key for XP operating system installed on the desktop IBM?

If the disc XP Professional nine and a key of different product, then you can install the computer with the Windows Vista operating system in a dual-boot configuration.

  • Two operating systems; Windows 7 Professional with an option of Windows 10

Two operating systems;  Windows 7 Professional with an option of Windows 10.

As a Neolithic Windows, I'm comfortable with Win 7 like all my old XP applications have continued to work with Win 7.  Now I want to try to get around the current Win 10 operating system through experience to see what Win 10 offers me in every sense of the use practable. I don't want to lose the existing installation of Win7 which works well, I think to a new PC.

I need a route which can accommodate my learning needs.  I'm open to suggestions that might involve touchscreen options to win 10 OS while keeping the mouse driven navigation for Win 7 applications.  Clues on a postcard!

10 dual-boot Windows, you will need to buy retail (it's only free if you use it to replace Windows 7, not to start the long side).

So first, buy an installation Windows 10 CD/USB stick to your favorite tech store and install it as a dual-boot option.

You will find that there is no dichotomy of the 'touch' vs 'mouse' use Windows 10.  You can use the mouse as you do today in Windows 7: there is literally not a single instance of a hidden mouse-gesture-operated menu, you need to know the secret movement to activate (unlike Windows 8, Windows 10 has been designed so that a user of Windows 7 could jump in without any training).

How to install two operating systems on a single computer, xp and windows 7... ?

    Hello

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.
For the installation of two Windows OS (called Dual Boot), you first determine what exactly the BONES. Based on this, you can proceed to install the oldest operating system first, then installing the latest OS. Here, in your case, Windows XP first and then Windows 7.
If you change the order, the latest version of Windows will not work correctly.
In addition, you can use Virtual PC or VMware to use Windows XP in Windows 7. Windows XP Mode is another version of Microsoft which allows you to use Windows XP in Windows 7 through Virtual PC. You can download Windows XP Mode from here:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/Virtual-PC/Download.aspx
To install Windows XP Mode, you must have Windows 7 Professional or higher, with hardware virtualization enabled in your PC (you should check in the BIOS of your PC). If you prefer Windows XP Mode, you don't have to install Windows XP in the above mentioned way. It installs like any other program on Windows 7.
Note that if you have Windows 7 Edition Home Premium or lower edition, you can try Windows XP using Virtual PC/VMware or dual-boot.

Please don't be crazy on me, but in my opinion, this is the wrong place for your question. The fact is that Toshiba doesn't support Windows 2003 server for mobile computing. If you have problems try again with Microsoft.
As a manufacturer of operating system, they should be able to offer an explanation for each error message. Sorry, but I see no connection between the problems described and Toshiba as a hardware manufacturer.

    Hi Nawwabym,

    A. XP is installed in the primary partition?

    B. What is the letter of the drive of the XP partition?

    C. how many partitions you have on your computer?

To find the primary partition (Boot from Vista)

    1. click on start

2 type Diskmgmt.msc in the search box and press on enter.

3 disk management windows open and you will be able to see the letter of the primary partition.

Removal of the partition that contains the original operating system on a multiboot system could render your system unusable. That partition contains system files that depends on your computer to start your computer, regardless of what OS you want to use.

Please provide details to help you further.

  • The two operating systems fails on the Satellite A200 - 220 (PSAE3E)

I have a very irritating problem on my laptop...

I installed Windows 7 Professional x 86 on my laptop and the latest Ubuntu 9.10, and the computer crashes all the time.
The original operating system was Windows Vista Home edition.
The computer is 1 and a half years and I can not beIeave that's not Win7 compatible, and it does not support the latest version of Ubuntu, so if someone has an idea what is the cause or if the configurations are needed to run it please help me.

computer crashes all the time is a rather general statement and I do not think that anyone here can say with certainty what the problem is here. Operating system installation is a complex mixture of operating system itself and many different additional drivers, tools, utilities and party applications third.

Who knows what you did, how you installed it and what was your order of facilities? So for this problem cannot wait for a simple response.

First step of course is install Win7. At this point the OS is naked and without some additional software.
Is your laptop breaks down at this point?

  • Two operating systems on my Dell; How can I now run Vista?

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 s. He has XP and Vista (I think; Windows Vista sticker on the front of the PC and Vista Ultimate OEM sticker on the top with a 20-digit product key. Reference called Dell and they said I should have a drive with the system Vista on it. Can find looked at her top and bottom with no.. Is there a way I can get a DL of Vista with product key without having to pay (again)?

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • Vista does not start, fails to Startup Repair indicating that the version of the operating system is incompatible with Startup Repair tool

I use a laptop Dell XPS M1330, under Vista Home Premium 32 Bit. The laptop froze, I tried to do a system restore, which did not work. Now the laptop goes into startup each time put on repair. A message window appears saying "Startup Repair cannot repair the computer automatically. Startup Repair window says "Startup Repair could not detect a problem. Diagnostics details say: Root cause found: the operating system version is incompatible with Startup Repair tool.

I tried to use the Dell Factory Image Restore to restore the system, but it does not end. I get an error message instead. There is no details, it's just a small window with an X and the Word error.

I also tried to use resettlement Dell DVD, but that doesn't seem to work either.

Vista does not start at all, not in either safe mode.

I just ran to the Dell Diagnostics tool, and that is to say that the integrity test of memory has failed... No idea how to solve this problem?

I'm at a loss and helps woukld be appreciated.

    Hi James,

Ø are you using the correct version of the Vista disc to run Startup Repair?

I suggest to run the diagnostic tool memory WINRE mode and check if the memory (RAM) installed on the computer works fine.

Follow the steps below to start the computer using the WINRE and run the memory diagnostic tool.

    A. Insert the Windows Vista installation disc.

    B. restart your computer.

    C. Si you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.

Note: If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings. For more information, see BIOS: frequently asked questions.

    D. choose your language settings, and then click Next.

    E. click on repair your computer.

    F. Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.

    G. in the menu system, SelectMemory diagnostic tool Recovery Options.

Once scanning is complete, check to see if the problem is resolved.

Access the link below to learn more about Windows recovery options in Windows Vista.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/how-do-I-know-if-my-computer-has-a-memory-problem

If you have several sticks of RAM installed on the computer, you can try to remove one of the RAM stick and check if it works very well. Also, you try to exchange the RAM sticks and check if one of the RAM is originally this issue and if it needs to be replaced.

Note: If you are not aware of the evolution and swaping the stick of RAM on the computer, it is best to contact the computer manufacturer for help on this and you can do it at your own risk.

You can also contact Dell support and check if you need to replace any hardware.

I hope this helps. Let us know the results.
