  I recently got myself one of these notebooks, being a windows user and not ubuntu, I decided to update instantly all the features by using the Update Manager.

  This however seems to have killed the sound now, I tried almost everything that was found using google search to get my sound back, however I had no joy.

  I even tried to use popular workaround as copied below

  but still no solution. It returns an error saying the files are not.

• Starting with Ubuntu Remix on Toshiba NB100 problems

  Today, I tried to use the Update Manager to install several updates.

  During installation, the device froze.
  Now start only takes me to the start page of Ubuntu with the logo and a progress bar is empty.

  If I go to the Terminal, I have the following script
  BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3 - 5 Ubuntu12) shell (ash) integrated
  Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
  (initramfs)

  I have no idea how to proceed. Is there a command that I can use for commissioning successfully or do I need to use the recovery CD?

  Hello

  I think that you should just grab the laptop because it's the easiest way to solve this problem starting Ubuntu.
  Other workarounds would be too difficult and would take as long as a simple recovery.

  Recovery if the NB100. The procedure should t take long.

• Microsoft Update killed my audio

  I've been fighting against an update Microsoft Windows and Office Professional for the last two weeks because it kills the sound on my Toshiba laptop.  Surely other people facing similar problems with this update.  It's very frustrating.

  I know very little about computers.  I appreciate simple help anyone can offer (i.e. I hope that measures of Microsoft with a simple solution to the problem that they cause me here).

  If your's is a brand PC, visit their support site and see if there are updates system driver.

  If a generic desktop, updates by the author of the motherboard. I assumed it is not a true sound card

  Try the hard reset by the press, the power and the home buttons and keep them pressed until the Apple logo appears on the screen and release your fingers.

  I just want to see if other people have noticed that since updating to the new iOS on my iPhone 6 s 10 more my sound quality while listening to music via apple earpods was really the food but now its like im using earphones shop book and listening to an old cassette player - so low can hear barely im not impressed.

  I feel the same way. I use a Bluetooth headset and I notice, too, that the sound quality has gone downhill.

  Hi there being a Linux user myself using XUbuntu 14.04 I can be sure that FireFox be interrupting with your network connection, because it's a browser have you tried the link directly to your router via Ethernet and make sure that you are connected to the Internet.

• Latest ubuntu update - help Firefox and bookmarks missing - why?

  I've just updated to the latest Ubuntu and Firefox lacks the Menu Help and the drop down for bookmarks. The only choices in the right side menu of the mouse in the area of the tabs are:
  Navigateion toolbar, tabs on the toolbar, toolbar add-on, bookmarks on Top and customize. I cannot yet understand what version of Firefox I have.

  It seems that I can add bookmarks, but her do not appear when I press the little drop-down arrow in the Navigation bar.

  In the window of my browser, nothing between the title bar and the navigation bar.

  It would be helpful to know what version of ubuntu you are using. I am currently in Ubuntu LTS of 11.4 using Firefox canonical 15.0a2 (Aurora)

  Try to press and hold the Alt key on the keyboard that can display all of the menu items.

  To find out which version you are using, try the troubleshooting option. If this does not work in the menu, use the address bar when you type in web addresses and go to Subject: support . It is another method to obtain the same information.

  If you have the favorite item on the file or ubuntu bar then drop down to the bookmarks are not available, use the favorite item that you have, or the sidebar which can be accessed using the keyboard Ctrl + B

  If you disable the menutoolbar so that the firefox button is available the drop-down list of bookmarks reappear (you may need to add back in Customizing).

  You have the menu global integration and/or ubufox installed and active.

  After installation of the firmware update marked Softpaq number: SP75152, F.35Ap1 Version now four of our laptops (13 "and 14" ENVY ENVY) have a HDMI port not working. The external screens are 'no signal '.

  We spent a lot of time with the help of HP (via Hong Kong, we found ourselves in India). Remote control sessions. All a waste of time. The update of the BIOS is faulty, no system restore cannot solve this problem.

  Same day (June 13, 2016) one of our laptops automatically installed this update of the BIOS with the HP Support Assistant and killed the HDMI port.

  A. is there a way to acquire and install the previous BIOS?

  When can b. we expect a new update of the BIOS?

  C. how the hell did this update of the BIOS pass test? -> 4 / 4 updated computers laptops have a broken HDMI port. We have 7 other laptop on the left who are fortunately not updated.

  Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!  It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, HP experts and other support staff. From what I understand, bothl of you experience the same problem with HDMI after a BIOS update.  I'm happy to help you with this.

  I would, if possible, that each of you try the laptops HP - restore the BIOS to a restoration to the having previously worked BIOS.  The main purpose is to return you to a working state. If this method works for you, obviously do not install BIOS update again.

  Edit: Bugfinder reported that restoration, the method of BIOS didn't work for him, but he had to do several times (4 times in at least one case). I guess you could say that it is true to its name, and I thank very you much for the comments.

  Please let me know if it works for you and if not let me know if there is an error message any. If this does not solve your immediate problem, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

• Ubuntu 9.04 on NB100

  I have rather a complex network here and tried to get the version of Ubuntu 8.04 to work with it without total success. Everything was healed by installing remix 9.04 from a USB key, and the machine now works fine apart from the following problems.

  1. the activities feature keys do not work. Those relating to his show the on-screen display following the keys correctly, but they do nothing. With other things like the wireless is is more controlled by the forces nouvelles or disable keys and nor is there any screen.

  2. I'm not sure about the power management or the mode control fan or processor (not sure if it has reduced consumption). The system log contains messages such as "ACPI: unable to turn cooling device.

  If it's a Windows system, I would look on the Toshiba site for drivers related to power management and keyboard, but there doesn't seem to be much in the section Ubunto download area, and likely he would bring on the Hardy version rather than this flippant one.

  Fan-controll works, but the symbol does not appear on the screen. Other function keys work: sound, sound on / off, brightness... Skype works (micro and cam).
  A question I have is that the symbol of a USB key mounted, allowing you to take it apart,

  When I install the KB963027 update, the system does not detect the sound equipment. I try to detect changes in the hardware or the addition of new hardware in the Control Panel, but it was useless.
  I uinstall the KB963027 update and the sound works fine.

  If you install this update you will see the sound card in Device Manager? If so, try to update the driver. The latest version, you can find the Toshiba site:

• BIOS update killed my Equium A210

  I installed this update to the BIOS: http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/bios-20090624105402.zip for my PSAFJE 210 - 1as Equium and during the installiong my laptop just shut down and now whenever I try to start I just get a black screen, the lights say turned, the hard drive is on etc. but the screen is all black and I tried an external monitor but that did not work either and I also toshiba recovery CD tried and has failed.

  It sounds like a hardware failure serious BIOS is probably corrupted.
  You have updates the BIOS when the laptop was on the power supply?

• Updates kills internet connection every time

  Whenever I have install updates windows my internet connection is killed. My provider is Rogers. If I have to go back to a previous date. I'm currently 25 undates waiting, but whenever I install I have no Internet. When I trouble shoot it says I'm connected, but it won't allow me.

  Remove the Vista updates; two ways to do this:

  1. a System Restore to before the updates:

  Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > System Restore > restore time/choose your own date > next

  If you use Norton, disable it before using the system restore.

  If it is impossible to enter the Normal Mode, do a Safe Mode system restore:

  Press F8 at the startup/power and the list of startup options, use THE ARROW key to select Safe mode > and then press ENTER.

  System restore steps according to the info above.

  Also:

  2. click on start > right click on computer > properties > Windows updates down the lower left corner > updates installed in the lower left corner in the next window

  > then click the one that you don't want > uninstall will appear at the top > uninstall it.

• June 8 (kb2853915, kb2850674, kb2856758, kb2845522) windows updates killing Linksys WMB54G audio output

  I get no reports of error of these updates and the system has rebooted to complete. After the updates, when I choose my Linksys playback machine, there is no error and activity is illustrated by the device in the Audio window. However, no sound is produced by the music bridge. When I remove these updates, everything works fine. I hope that a fix for this. I wouldn't let my system without these updates.

• XAV-701HD questions, even after the update - changing Staion, no sound after the cycle of keys.

  I have a Sony XAV-701HD installed in my 09 Ram. I have had for a while now and still have problems even after the last update of the firmware. Since I installed the radio, the stations would change when I turn off the key and then restart the truck. Ususally a station off where I was listening. Then I noticed that when you listen to a CD, if I stop the truck, stop, and restart, I have sometimes no sound from the CD unit that change source to something else then back to CD. In addition, it seems to take an eternity for the CD start playing when I insert one, or when I start the truck every morning. Sometimes the CD start just up, other times not. Now, I've added SiurisXM to the unit, and I noticed that when I turn the key off the coast, and then back on, the device will not be playing Sirius Music until I have changing source, let the next launch of source for play, then switch back to sirius. I'm a professional installer, I know all my wiring is good, everything works. My Kenwood has worked perfectly in the same truck for 2 years before I changed to the Sony. Any ideas?
