  In your device manager, you have the Apple keyboard driver? You have an element of Bootcamp in the Panel?

  I have windows xp professional sp3. I had installed a new keyboard. for a few days it worked satisfactorily, then somehow the keyboard functions have changed. as when you press the left control button explore/firefox opens, pressing right shift key two parallel vertical lines (|) appear every time I type.   Sorry, you are having this problem!  What is the make and model of your keyboard?  Have you looked on the Web site of the manufacturer for any issues you have described?

  Looking at the specifications Page for your laptop, it is not listed as coming with a backlit keyboard - that would be normally provided under documenting the keyboard.

  I recently had to replace the keyboard on my A500 - 17 X (PSAR3E-00N005EN) and I decided to replace it with the same keyboard backlit model. The original keyboard was not backlit, but I thought I'd give it a go anyway, as it was the same price.

  I installed it in my laptop and everything works fine apart from the backlight function.
  There was even a port for the Ribbon to be back so it is definitely installed properly. I read on other forums that it is sometimes a problem with the BIOS or HWsetup but my BIOS does not give me the opportunity for her and neither does HWsetup.

  I was wondering if there is a way to get the backlight to work on the keyboard.
  Perhaps another driver or by changing the BIOS/HWsetup somehow?

  In my view, there is no way to activate the backlight through drivers or BIOS settings. You may need to send the laptop to a Toshiba repair center to get it activated.

  Keyboard backlight: press the "fn" key and hold the ' SPACEBAR'. Press "F5" to activate the backlight power. Or simply press "fn" key and "F5" key to activate the backlight power.

  I also suggest you follow the "computers HP - problems (Windows, 10, 8) Microphone" and reply back.
