Unable connect to vmware 4.1 console with previosly created user

Hello

I created the user on vmware esx 4.1 host. I needed this user to connect with ssh remotely. I've created by users and groups, and everything is ok.

When I try to log in, access denied!

I try and impossible to connect local console connection, the same situation. I isolate the problem, no problem of environment with permissions because I'am in su to the root user.

Thanks for the support, Miki

  • Customer Web couldn't connect to VMware Lookup Service error with the old server DNS name

    Hello

    I had a Vcenter server named virtualcenter.domain.com (192.168.1.10) with Vcenter 5.1 (with SSO, inventory, Webclient) on a windows 2008 R2 with a MSSQL2012 db.

    I tried to upgrade from 5.1 to 5.5u1 and he failed, Vcenter & Webclient installers have been crashing before you finish update

    So I decided to make a clone of my Vcenter and still have my production work while trying to update.

    My clone has been virtualcenter2.domain.com with a new IP 192.168.1.12

    I uninstalled everything for the webclient service that I had to clean files and registry entries manually, because he didn't find the uninstall program when I was clicking on uninstall.

    Then the installation went well, everything except the webclient service works very well

    When you try to connect to the new vcenter: https://virtualcenter2.domain.com:9443 / vsphere client / I got:

    Unable to connect to the VMware Research Service https://VirtualCenter.domain.com:7444/lookupservice/sdk -The SSL certificate verification failed.

    Why the error message is wearing the old DNS name?

    And why when installing, the webclient service to connect to the search service perfectly and then it doesn't work?

    After 1 day, uninstall/reinstall/install, try SSL things and many things, that I found online, the solution is the STUPIDEST thing ever.
    WHY DON'T C:\ProgramData\VMware\ls_url.txt USE VMWARE to provide the URL of the LookupService for the Webclient service? During the installation provide you the URL for registration with SSO, why the hell isn't it written that URL somewhere and use it after?

    And why the hell with all the gel/reinstalling ALL THE COMPONTENT of the Vcenter, I did, this MUTE txt file has not been updated with the new DNS name of my server?

    In any case, my webclient is currently working, but 1 day of work and mental torture do not understand why the hell my client was not working due to a file text fucking, it's depressing.

  • Unable connect user AD to any role assignment

    We created users being authenticated by OBIEE 11 g AD. In the ad, we currently have the user, password and information associated with all created users group.

    According to the behavior of the system if group a user an is not mapped to a role within the EM, it should automatically be labeled authenticated role which, being a part of their role of 'BIConsumer' will give the privileges to this user. This doesn't seem to be the case. Any point of view on why this would be the case?

    -If there is a group associated to AD user in the active directory itself, is it mandatory that ad groups be associated with a role? What I mean by that is, if we block init level RPD to map users authenticated to imported within the RPD and EM custom database roles, they would not work unless there is a direct ad group for role assignment?

    The RPD had no access 'Authenticated users' and "Consumer Bi-role" nec for all areas, among other permissions layer of presentation, so at least that a user has been assigned to a role that could access any of the areas of knowledge, that the default authentication would not work.

When I try to add it, I can see the name of the printer and I select it, but I get the error "Windows cannot connect to the printer" [operation failed with error 0x00000002]. I changed from Windows Vista to Windows 7, several months ago, but I don't know if that makes a difference (I think I used printer at least once since I change). Help, please.

  • Why the administrator is the only one who can connect to VMware server 2.0.1 GUI?

    I am facing this problem and have been unable to find a solution for this.

    I need to segment users who manages our servers VMware 2.0.1 in ProductionAdmins, DemoServerAdmins, DevAdmins etc etc. VMware server runs on Windows Server 2003 member of a domain (for example, the AD authentication).

    My main problem is that only users who are allowed to log on by using the graphical interface are those who are members of the local Administrators group - and by substituting so completely the VMware Server permission settings. I get a "you do not have the permissions to connect to the server" for all users, except the members of the group mentioned.

    In the VMware Server documentation, I can read that users and groups are managed by the host OS (AD), but is obviously not "the complete truth. I tried to add a user (domain or local user also) to the local 'users', '__vmware__', 'Power Users', etc., etc. no change

    What prevents the user to log on to the server. I even tried to add the user to "Remote desktop users" - which works very well (with the exception of the connection to the console that requires membership of the admin).

    I don't understand. What's wrong???

    Have you used the Administration-> manage roles (WebUI)?

    You set up the authorization for VMS (WebUI)?

    I work in the field and I can set up permission for domain members (not only Local Administrators or domain administrators).

  • Can not connect to VMware 5.0

    Nice day

    I have a problem that my admin account doesn't work any more (invalid username or password) of vSphere and my secondary account said "I have no security rights.

    I have 5 virtual machines configured on this box which is a Dell R710.  I can still access the ROOT of the console with the root login.

    It is ESXi 5.0.0 B 469512 is the trial version, all VMS are also closed today.  It was installed the first week of October on this box, so I know that it is within 60 days unless that happens the day where I downloaded it that would be beyond 60 days.

    In fact, I tried to access the box to activate VMware to the full version when I came across this problem.  I know that the admin account was the same as all my accounts on the network admin.

    Anyway if it has only an activation code so if someone could direct me to the right way to do this I would appreciate it and the ESXi if toast is there a way to get the VM on the disks before you reinstall ESXi?

    Thank you

    Dave

    Welcome to the community - if you can access the console with the root account, you should also be able to use the root to connect with the vSphere client - it is through the vsphere client that you will be able to add your license

    VMware this displayed on the download page of ESXi VMware ESXi 4.0 with Dell' customization 'yesterday. I installed it on a test server, a Dell m600.

    I use the free ESXi license at this time.

    I expect this version will include Dell OpenManage 6.1 as well as Dell custom drivers. After installation, I am unable to connect to https://esxi_server:1311 (i.e. port OpenManage).

    Issues related to the:

    1. Nobody knows exactly what is in this custom version? Is it drivers and OpenManage?

    2. Assuming that OM is part of the customization, what should I do to make it work?

    3. When I finally get my license for vSphere Essentials (maybe more), it'll work with this ESXi installation (just change the license number to authorize a vSphere Essentials managed node? or is it a completely separate ESXi install media for this product)?

    See further discussions on http://communities.vmware.com/thread/220783?tstart=0

    It contains all the necessary information to configure OpenManage 6.1 on ESXi 4.0.

    Earlier with ESXi 3.5, OpenManage component has been incorporated into the ISO image

    but leaving ESXi 4.0, VMware has introduced a new concept called Vsphere Bundle (VIB) Installation and allows end users download files VIB and install it on ESXi 4.0. If Dell has begun to post their OpenManage as a VIB component in support.dell.com.

  • Dell MD3620i connect to vmware - best practices

    Hello community,

    I bought a Dell MD3620i with 2 x ports Ethernet 10Gbase-T on each controller (2 x controllers).
    My vmware environment consists of 2 x ESXi hosts (each with 2ports x 1Gbase-T) and a HP Lefthand (also 1Gbase-T) storage. The switches I have are the Cisco3750 who have only 1Gbase-T Ethernet.
    I'll replace this HP storage with DELL storage.
    As I have never worked with stores of DELL, I need your help in answering my questions:

    1. What is the best practices to connect to vmware at the Dell MD3620i hosts?
    2. What is the process to create a LUN?
    3. can I create more LUNS on a single disk group? or is the best practice to create a LUN on a group?
    4. how to configure iSCSI 10GBase-T working on the 1 Gbit/s switch ports?
    5 is the best practice to connect the Dell MD3620i directly to vmware without switch hosts?
    6. the old iscsi on HP storage is in another network, I can do vmotion to move all the VMS in an iSCSI network to another, and then change the IP addresses iSCSI on vmware virtual machines uninterrupted hosts?
    7. can I combine the two iSCSI ports to an interface of 2 Gbps to conenct to the switch? I use two switches, so I want to connect each controller to each switch limit their interfaces to 2 Gbps. My Question is, would be controller switched to another controller if the Ethernet link is located on the switch? (in which case a single reboot switch)

    Tahnks in advanse!

    Basics of TCP/IP: a computer cannot connect to 2 different networks (isolated) (e.g. 2 directly attached the cables between the server and an iSCSI port SAN) who share the same subnet.

    The corruption of data is very likely if you share the same vlan for iSCSI, however, performance and overall reliability would be affected.

    With a MD3620i, here are some configuration scenarios using the factory default subnets (and for DAS configurations I have added 4 additional subnets):

    Single switch (not recommended because the switch becomes your single point of failure):

    Controller 0:

    iSCSI port 0: 192.168.130.101

    iSCSI port 1: 192.168.131.101

    iSCSI port 2: 192.168.132.101

    iSCSI port 4: 192.168.133.101

    Controller 1:

    iSCSI port 0: 192.168.130.102

    iSCSI port 1: 192.168.131.102

    iSCSI port 2: 192.168.132.102

    iSCSI port 4: 192.168.133.102

    Server 1:

    iSCSI NIC 0: 192.168.130.110

    iSCSI NIC 1: 192.168.131.110

    iSCSI NIC 2: 192.168.132.110

    iSCSI NIC 3: 192.168.133.110

    Server 2:

    All ports plug 1 switch (obviously).

    If you only want to use the 2 NICs for iSCSI, have new server 1 Server subnet 130 and 131 and the use of the server 2 132 and 133, 3 then uses 130 and 131. This distributes the load of the e/s between the ports of iSCSI on the SAN.

    Two switches (a VLAN for all iSCSI ports on this switch if):

    NOTE: Do NOT link switches together. This avoids problems that occur on a switch does not affect the other switch.

    Controller 0:

    iSCSI port 0: 192.168.130.101-> for switch 1

    iSCSI port 1: 192.168.131.101-> to switch 2

    iSCSI port 2: 192.168.132.101-> for switch 1

    iSCSI port 4: 192.168.133.101-> to switch 2

    Controller 1:

    iSCSI port 0: 192.168.130.102-> for switch 1

    iSCSI port 1: 192.168.131.102-> to switch 2

    iSCSI port 2: 192.168.132.102-> for switch 1

    iSCSI port 4: 192.168.133.102-> to switch 2

    Server 1:

    iSCSI NIC 0: 192.168.130.110-> for switch 1

    iSCSI NIC 1: 192.168.131.110-> to switch 2

    iSCSI NIC 2: 192.168.132.110-> for switch 1

    iSCSI NIC 3: 192.168.133.110-> to switch 2

    Server 2:

    Same note on the use of only 2 cards per server for iSCSI. In this configuration each server will always use two switches so that a failure of the switch should not take down your server iSCSI connectivity.

    Quad switches (or 2 VLAN on each of the 2 switches above):

    iSCSI port 0: 192.168.130.101-> for switch 1

    iSCSI port 1: 192.168.131.101-> to switch 2

    iSCSI port 2: 192.168.132.101-> switch 3

    iSCSI port 4: 192.168.133.101-> at 4 switch

    Controller 1:

    iSCSI port 0: 192.168.130.102-> for switch 1

    iSCSI port 1: 192.168.131.102-> to switch 2

    iSCSI port 2: 192.168.132.102-> switch 3

    iSCSI port 4: 192.168.133.102-> at 4 switch

    Server 1:

    iSCSI NIC 0: 192.168.130.110-> for switch 1

    iSCSI NIC 1: 192.168.131.110-> to switch 2

    iSCSI NIC 2: 192.168.132.110-> switch 3

    iSCSI NIC 3: 192.168.133.110-> at 4 switch

    Server 2:

    In this case using 2 NICs per server is the first server uses the first 2 switches and the second server uses the second series of switches.

    Join directly:

    iSCSI port 0: 192.168.130.101-> server iSCSI NIC 1 (on an example of 192.168.130.110 IP)

    iSCSI port 1: 192.168.131.101-> server iSCSI NIC 2 (on an example of 192.168.131.110 IP)

    iSCSI port 4: 192.168.137.102-> server iSCSI NIC 8 (on an example of 192.168.137.110 IP)

    I left just 4 subnets controller 1 on the '102' IPs for more easy changing future.
