I ignored it and went to download a registry cleaner program to try to solve, but he also said "cannot access Windows Installer". Undertook research to install across the entire hard drive and the Windows registry and I found nothing. Not even the key MSIServer was there. I went to the Services and it was not there either. I opened my journal program, and he said that Microsoft Windows Installer has been deleted from the hard drive. The newspaper program that I use is open source and theres no script that writes, deletes, or replaces all files! So all I can do now is to install again, so I went to the Microsoft Download page: Windows Installer but when I tried to download mine)

    Hello

Please use the Windows Vista Forums.

    Start the Windows Installer service

    1. Click Start, type Services.msc and press {ENTER}

    2. double-click on Windows Installer

    3. set the Windows Installer to Manual startup type

    4. Click Start to start the service. Note the error message, if any.

    5. click on OK.

Make sure that the Windows Installer is not disabled if group policy.

    a. Click Start, type gpedit.msc in the search box and press ENTER to open the Group Policy object editor.

    b. click on Computer Configuration, administrative templates, click Windows components and then click Windows Installer.

    c. double-click Disable Windows Installer on the right side.

    d. make sure that the configured or disabled option is selected.

If this does not help, check that the location of the Msiexec.exe in the Windows registry file matches the location of the Msiexec.exe file on the hard drive. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type regedit in the search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.

    2. in the left pane, click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, click SYSTEM, click on CurrentControlSet, click Services, and then MSIServer.

    3. in the right pane, double-click ImagePath.

    4. in the dialog box change channels, make sure that the string in the value box contains the correct path of the Msiexec.exe file on the hard drive. This is the way that you saved in step a, a - c. For example, if the Msiexec.exe file is located in the drive: \Windows\System32 hard disk, the correct path of the Msiexec.exe in the zone data file of value is the following path:

    drive: \Windows\System32\Msiexec.exe/v

Note in this path, drive is the drive where Windows is installed. The "/v" at the end of the path is a parameter required by Windows Installer. Do not delete it.

    5. If the value box does not contain the correct path, type the correct path in the box, and then click OK.

Note Add "/v" until the end of the path, as shown in the previous step.

    6. close the registry.

    Reregister Windows install.

    a. Click Start, type %windir%\system32\msiexec / unregserver in the search box, then press ENTER.

    b. type %windir%\system32\msiexec/REGSERVER, and then press ENTER.

    WARNING:
Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk.

If this does not help, run SFC/scannow to replace all system files missing or corrupt.

This command will launch immediately the System File Checker to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replace all the files with which it detects a problem.

    1. click on start

    2. click on all programs

    3. click on accessories, then right-click on the command prompt.

    4. Select the Security tab and choose "Run as Administrator"

    5. click on command prompt

    Type SFC/scannow

The System File Checker tool analyzes the system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.

  • Unable to access Windows Update page

I am running XP Service Pack 3 and were unable to access the Windows Update page for a few weeks now. I get an error message saying that "Internet Explorer can not locate the page". I tried several routes to access the update page, but they all fail. Analysis of virus and malware picked up nothing. I am running Internet Explorer Ver 8.

It turns out that the problem was software malicious. After the last post, more I tried to do at least I could do: Internet Explporer wouldn't start again, I could not copy files from one drive to the other and my backup software has been disabled. I have reinstalled Windows to solve problems. Scans of my files from backup using Quick Heal has revealed the presence of Trojan.Gen, who may have let in some other bad guys. I can now access the update site.

How can I access email Windows that is running on a Vista operating system from another computer, more specifically from my computer at home (this one) that is running Windows 7.

I was told MS that Windows 7 will not support Windows Mail, I prefer (although she was responsible here) and that only Windows Live Mail can be performed on-site.  Is this really the case?

Many users never bother with e-mail software such as Windows Mail, preferring to use webmail online.
The problem is when clicking on links in e-mail, on web pages, Windows launches the e-mail program default, which is Windows mail in Vista. There are only a few webmail providers who have developed a programme of assistance that will allow their webmail become the default of Windows.
